With the 32nd pick the New England Patriots pick WR N’Keal Harry out of Arizona State
You have got to be kidding me. New England loses one of the greatest tight ends to play the game and replace him with the best receiver in the 2019 Draft Class.
N’Keal Harry was a fantasy gold mine at Arizona State and had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He came to Tempe, Arizona as a top-20 prospect and proved his worth week in and week out as their primary target for multiple seasons. Harry is a matchup problem at 6-foot-4 and can get open in medium to long routes. He’s competitive on every play and will fight for a jump ball whenever it’s thrown to him. His collegiate production is reassuring and he’s actually a pretty decent blocker. Most importantly, he came from a humble background and has a great head on his shoulders.
He doesn’t quite have the downfield speed you’d like out of your top receiver. He also tends to stay in coverage for too long in routes. I think his biggest criticism is his lower touchdown numbers while at Arizona State. I wouldn’t read into it too much given the string of running backs the Sun Devils have boasted over the past several seasons.
Fantasy Impact of N’Keal Harry
If N’Keal Harry wasn’t number one on your dynasty draft board before tonight he is now. The best receiver in the class is now playing alongside Julian Edelman and not to mention one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks to play the game in Tom Brady. I expect big things from N’Keal Harry early on in his career and if you don’t have the top pick in your dynasty draft then you’re probably not landing this dude.
One worry I have that could hinder his production is Josh Gordon. Yes, that Josh Gordon. Gordon signed a tender to play with the Patriots in 2019. If Gordon is on the field, he easily eats into that production that Harry deserves to have. Remember guys, the Patriots never miss on players. The guys they draft are almost always the guys they wanted the whole time.
