With the 12th pick the Green Bay Packers selected Michigan DE Rashan Gary
This was a bit of a disappointment to Green Bay fans as the Packers were in position to nab a top pass-catcher with their first of two first round picks. But they opted for Gary, who has wowed onlookers with his athletic ability but needs some work to make a consistent impact at the next level. He could become an asset against the run quicker, though, but he needs work on his techniques and will learn he cannot simply bull rush his way to the passer. He is a somewhat raw prospect in terms of his fundamentals but he could eventually become a dominant force for the Packers.
Fantasy Impact of Rashan Gary
The Packers were 22nd against the rush last season, so Gary can certainly help on the edge in that regard. The Pack were just 26th in yards for losses last year so they are looking for Gary to make his presence felt in that department as well. Gary can eventually help protect the Packers secondary and possibly prevent the team from engaging in less shootouts.
