NFL Week 1 is here, and we’re starting to mull over our fantasy football lineups for the week. In order to help you with some of those decisions, I present to you my Week 1 quarterback rankings — as well as some notes on this week’s matchups. Hopefully, this will be a useful guide when setting this week’s lineups. (Note: All rankings are based on Half-PPR scoring.)
The quarterback position is one of the most important — if not the most important — in football. However, don’t fret too much over lineup decisions with quarterbacks in Week 1. In general, you should be confident starting the quarterbacks you drafted. Additionally, don’t get cute when it comes to difficult matchups, especially with top-tier quarterbacks. They have the talent to more than keep you afloat each week, regardless of their opponent.

Week 1 Quarterback Notes
- Tom Brady is a top-5 quarterback this week. He faces off against Dallas in Thursday night’s kickoff to the 2021 season. The game is projected to be one of the highest combined scoring totals of Week 1, and Brady has no shortage of receiving weapons.
- Dak Prescott has a challenging week. Tampa Bay’s defense should be stout, and the Cowboys will likely be without Pro Bowl offensive lineman Zack Martin, who landed on the COVID list over the weekend.
- Ryan Fitzpatrick should benefit from a plus matchup this week against the Chargers. Baker Mayfield could be chasing points against Kansas City, and Trevor Lawrence has a chance to shine in his debut against Houston.
- Tua Tagovailoa has a challenging road game at New England, and Joe Burrow could have a difficult time in Minnesota.
- Jared Goff (against San Francisco) and Daniel Jones (at Denver) are two hard passes for me this week, as their fantasy production should be questionable at best.
