The tight end position continues to baffle. C.J. Uzomah, Mo Alie-Cox, and Maxx Williams all finished as top-five tight ends in Week 4, based on half-PPR scoring. So if you’re having trouble deciding which tight end to put in your lineup this week, I hear ya! Hopefully, my Week 5 tight end rankings and notes can help point you in the right direction. Keep in mind, these rankings are based on a half-PPR format.
Before I get into this week’s notes, there were a couple of injuries to top tight ends that headlined Week 4:
- Rob Gronkowski missed a return to Foxborough last week due to multiple fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Gronk will likely miss a couple of weeks, if not more. Cameron Brate’s usage will be worth monitoring moving forward. He and O.J. Howard essentially played the same amount of snaps in Week 4, but Brate doubled Howard’s routes (31 to 15).
- Logan Thomas suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 and will likely miss this week’s game. Ricky Seals-Jones should get the start this week, but there are better Week 5 options, especially with Curtis Samuel returning from IR.

Week 5 Tight End Notes
C.J. Uzomah finished Week 4 as the top tight end, with 95 yards and two touchdowns. I wouldn’t bank on a repeat. Tee Higgins will likely return from a shoulder injury in Week 5, and outside of last week, Uzomah has never been targeted more than twice per game.
I’m high on Dawson Knox this week. He’s scored four touchdowns in the last three games and has seen at least five targets in the last two games. The Bills want Knox involved offensively, and that will likely continue in their Week 5 matchup against Kansas City. Fire him up this week, in what will likely be a shootout.
Mike Gesicki is a top-10 tight end in Week 5. He’s been targeted 18 times in the past two games, and Jacoby Brissett should continue to look his way this week against the Buccaneers. The Dolphins will likely be playing from behind, and Gesicki could benefit.
Both Dalton Schultz and Blake Jarwin scored touchdowns last week. However, Schultz is the more appealing tight end. He led the Cowboys in targets in Week 4 (8) and out-snapped Jarwin (72% to 54%). Schultz is the better bet to cash in again this week against the Giants, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to the position.
Tyler Conklin had four receptions for 18 yards in Week 4. Blech. But, he was targeted six times and has been targeted 14 times in the past two weeks. Additionally, he played on over 80% of the team’s snaps and routes last week. He should fare better in a Week 5 matchup against the Lions, and is still a top-12 tight end for me this week.
Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith each saw five targets and scored in Week 4. But it was Henry who played more snaps (40 to 28) and ran more routes (29 to 17). The two tend to limit each other’s upsides, but both are top-15 options this week against the Texans, who are giving up the most fantasy points to tight ends.

Looks like something was misplaced. This is the TE page but with the WR rankings.
Thanks for the heads up! The issue has been fixed.
