Fantasy GMs who eschewed drafting a quarterback early and have been streaming the position have been able to find success this season. If you drafted Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes early or managed to snag Tua Tagovailoa or Geno Smith later on in your drafts, this article probably isn’t for you. But if you’ve been streaming quarterbacks this season or have Justin Fields or Aaron Rodgers on bye this week, here are some viable Week 14 quarterback streamers with good matchups to target.
Week 14 Quarterback Streamers
Check out our Week 14 Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE | PPR |
Note: The below quarterback streamers are the “best of the rest”, meaning that they’re generally rostered in less than about 50-60 percent of major fantasy football platforms at the time of this writing even after waivers have run on Wednesday.
Jared Goff (37% ESPN, 61% Yahoo)
After a mid-season slump, the Lions have bounced back in a big way, having won four of their last five games, with the one loss coming against Buffalo by only a field goal. This week, Jared Goff will be at home in the dome facing a Minnesota defense that ranks 24th in DVOA against the pass and just 29th in pass rush win rate. The Vikings also lead the league in passing yards per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks and are 12th in points per game allowed to opponents through 13 weeks.
Moreover, the over/under for this game is currently projected to be 52.5 total points scored, the highest of any game in Week 14. With Detroit’s two biggest playmakers, Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift, the healthiest they’ve been since Week 1 along with D.J. Chark and Jameson Williams both back from injury, Goff should throw for a lot of yards and multiple touchdowns in what could be a shootout, placing him firmly at the top of the list of quarterback streamers for this week.
Tyler Huntley (15% ESPN, 21% Yahoo)
Despite subpar passing production, Tyler Huntley has an immense ceiling due to his rushing potential. Even though he threw for just 187 yards and an interception against Denver coming into the game for Lamar Jackson last week, Huntley still had a useable QB15 fantasy finish due to his 10 rushing attempts for 41 yards and a touchdown.
In fact, Huntley displayed his potential last year, having averaged 61 rushing yards per game in his four starts in 2021. He even finished as the top-scoring fantasy quarterback in Week 15 of last year against the Packers with two rushing scores. It helps, too, that Pittsburgh’s defense has allowed the fifth-most passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. With the decent passing matchup plus his rushing floor and ceiling, Huntley should be a solid fantasy option and is one of the top Week 14 quarterback streamers.
Ryan Tannehill (11% ESPN, 26% Yahoo)
While the Titans’ offense has struggled in recent weeks against tough defenses in the Bengals and Eagles, they have a much easier matchup this week against a Jacksonville defense that ranks second-worst in the league in pass defense. With the Jaguars having allowed the fourth-most passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, Ryan Tannehill finds himself among the top quarterback streamers for this week.
Of course, a glaring concern is that the Titans are favored at home this week, and if Trevor Lawrence is out due to his foot injury, this game could turn into a blowout in the second half with a lot of rushing attempts for Derrick Henry and Dontrell Hilliard without much passing production from Tannehill. Another potential cause for concern is that Treylon Burks is still questionable with a concussion. Still, with slim pickings at quarterback this week with six teams on bye, Tannehill has enough upside to be an enticing play.
Honorable Mentions
In deeper leagues, if none of the above-recommended quarterback streamers are available, Mac Jones hasn’t been great, but the Cardinals have allowed the ninth-most passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks and the second-most points per game to opponents this season. And if you’re desperate, the Rams are a mess, but if healthy, John Wolford will be facing a Raiders defense that ranks 30th against the pass, has allowed the third-most passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks, and has allowed the seventh-most points per game to opponents thus far.
