Week 15 is here and that means the start of fantasy playoffs. Woo-hoo! If you made the cut, congratulations! However, there’s still a lot of work to be done. Significant injuries continue to pile up at the quarterback position. Additionally, a handful of top-performing quarterbacks have tougher-than-not matchups this week, making for some difficult decisions. So with that in mind, let’s get to those Week 15 quarterback rankings and notes.
Kyler Murray is the latest top-tier quarterback to be affected by injury. He suffered a torn ACL on Monday night and will miss the rest of the season. Colt McCoy takes over in Arizona and gets a tough Week 15 matchup against a Broncos defense that ranks fourth against quarterbacks. In Baltimore, Lamar Jackson remains out with a sprained knee. There’s a slim chance he returns this week. In other injury news, Russell Wilson, Kenny Pickett and Tyler Huntley are all in concussion protocol, so be sure to track their progress this week. If they are unable to suit up, Brett Rypien, Mitch Trubisky, and Anthony Brown would get the start, respectively.
Brock Purdy suffered an oblique injury last week and is day-to-day. The Niners play Thursday night, so it’s possible he misses Week 15. If Purdy can’t suit up, Josh Johnson will get the start. Mike White was also dinged up last week, twice leaving last week’s game with a rib injury. He’s day-to-day but is looking like he’ll still be able to start Week 15. In Atlanta, Marcus Mariota is expected to be placed on the IR. Rookie Desmond Ridder will get his first career start in Week 15 and will be the Falcons’ starter to close out the season.
As always, stay on top of the injury reports this week and make any necessary lineup adjustments. Good luck in Week 15, everybody!
Week 15 Quarterback Notes
- Dak Prescott led the Cowboys to a win against the Texans in Week 14, but it wasn’t easy. He completed 29-of-34 passes for 284 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. It was the first time Prescott failed to throw for multiple scores since Week 7. However, Prescott should be able to remedy that this week. The Jaguars have surrendered 21 touchdowns to date, tied for fifth-most in the league. They’ve also allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to the position. Look for Prescott to rebound in Week 15.
- Mike White is day-to-day with a rib injury but is trending in the right direction for Week 15. Assuming he suits up, White gets a cushy matchup against a Detroit defense that has given up the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (23.32). The Lions have also allowed the third-most passing yards to the position. White has no problem slinging the ball. Since taking over the quarterback reins in Week 12, his 129 pass attempts and 925 passing yards are third-most at the position. There aren’t many quarterbacks with upside this week, making White a top-10 quarterback for me in Week 15. UPDATE: White was not cleared by doctors to play, making Zach Wilson the Jets’ Week 15 starter. Wilson lacks White’s upside and is a back-end QB2 for me.
- Tua Tagovailoa falls down my ranks this week. He played poorly in a favorable matchup against the Chargers in Week 14, completing 10-of-28 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown. He’s also been in a bit of a slump recently, scoring under 16 fantasy points in each of the last three games and ranking as the QB22 over that span. Things aren’t going to get easier this week. Tagovailoa gets a tough Week 15 matchup against Buffalo on the road. The Bills are the sixth-best defense against quarterbacks and weather could be an issue. Temper expectations this week.
