The major news at the position is that Mark Andrews is likely out for the season with an ankle injury. Andrews was the TE4 on the season and led the position in touchdowns with six, leaving a big hole to fill at the top of the Week 12 tight end rankings. There’s no direct replacement for Andrews’ talent. But backup Isaiah Likely could be a solid fill-in this week and ranks as a top-tier TE2 in my Week 12 tight end rankings.
On the bright side, there are no bye weeks to deal with in Week 12. Just keep in mind there are slight changes to the weekly schedule, with three Thanksgiving Day games and one game on Friday. Make sure you adjust your lineups accordingly!
Tight End Notes
- Evan Engram is coming off another disappointing week, yardage-wise. He’s still seen a healthy dose of targets in the past two weeks (13), but he’s failed to crack 30 yards in either game. That should change in Week 12. Engram faces a vulnerable Houston defense that has allowed the most receptions and fourth-most yards to tight ends this season. They’ve also given up the fifth-most fantasy points to the position. Engram is an integral part of the Jaguars’ offense, and his 74 targets on the season are third-highest among tight ends. Engram should continue to soak up targets this week, making him my TE5 in Week 12.
- Trey McBride was quiet but productive in Week 11, catching five of seven passes for 43 yards. He continues to be a focal point in the Cardinals’ offense — McBride has seen at least seven targets in three of his last four games and ranks as the fourth-best tight end during that span. The fantasy goodness should continue in Week 12. McBride gets a tasty matchup against a Rams defense that is second-worst against the position. They’ve also given up the ninth-most yards to opposing tight ends. McBride ranks as my TE6 in Week 12.
- David Njoku was a target-hog last week. His 15 targets were second-most league-wide, and he hauled in seven of them for 56 yards. Up next is a juicy Week 12 matchup against Denver. The Broncos are the worst defense against the position and have given up touchdowns to tight ends in each of the last two games. They’ve also allowed opposing tight ends to rack up 50+ receiving yards in six of their previous seven games. Njoku could feast this week and ranks as the TE8 in my Week 12 tight end rankings.
- Mark Andrews is likely out for the season after suffering an ankle injury in Week 11. Talent-wise, there’s no replacing Andrews. But backup Isaiah Likely could be a productive fill-in, especially this week against a soft Chargers defense. Los Angeles has allowed the second-most receptions and receiving yards to opposing tight ends. They’ve also given up the fourth-most fantasy points to the position. Likely is a top-tier TE2 with TE1-upside this week.
