While we aren’t exactly in the days of Pudge and Piazza the catcher position has seen a nice uptick over the last couple of years. In 2023 10 catchers hit 20 or more home runs and 18 catchers hit 15 or more. Fifteen catchers topped 60 RBI and 16 catchers with 100 or more plate appearances hit .260 or better. Most of this production was spread out pretty evenly. William Contreras and Adley Rutschman were at the head of the class but the field wasn’t all that far back. Our consensus rankings reflect a balanced catcher pool with plenty of room for disagreement throughout the ranks.
