Second base seems to be a perplexing position as we get started preparing for the 2024 fantasy baseball season. Many analysts talk about it being a shallow position with a lack of elite hitters, while others talk about an abundance of depth with very useful bats well into the tiers. One thing is very clear though with our 2024 Consensus Second Base Rankings. Mookie Betts and his newfound second base eligibility stand head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
I guess that’s not too surprising when you consider that in 2023 Betts outpaced the second-best second baseman (Marcus Semien) by $10 according to the Fangraphs Auction Calculator. Even though Betts doesn’t run as much as he used to he’s an easy call as the top second baseman and you’ll see all of our analysts agreed.

These second base rankings below are based on 5×5 rotisserie scoring. We used 20 games played in 2023 as the threshold but were liberal if we thought a player would spend time at the position in 2024. Make sure to check your league rules to see who’s eligible in your league. We also have a searchable tool where you can view all 2023 Games Played by Position data.
