Fantasy basketball is a different animal than fantasy football. Daily matchups with constant monitoring of your team, the waiver wire, and so much more. With that being said, sleepers set you apart in fantasy basketball. These sleepers turn into fantasy stars and help you compete all season long. Here are my three favorite sleeper point guards for the 2024-2025 fantasy basketball season.
Sleeper Point Guards
Miles McBride, New York Knicks
Miles “Deuce” McBride is set to be the New York Knicks six-man this season. The Knicks traded for Karl Anthony Towns and got rid of who would be the six-man, Donte DiVincenzo. McBride played fairly well. He had 16 starts, including two in the postseason. McBride had averages of 18 points and 3.9 assists. 3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 42.6 minutes per game.
With that being said, The Knicks’ depth is in question after the Towns trade. McBride will become the leader of the bench unit, and that is why the surface was just being scratched for Miles McBride. In 2024-2025, we will see a leap. Draft him.
Ben Simmons, Brooklyn Nets
Ben Simmons is listed in three positions. Point guard is the primary position he is listed as. He has 33 triple-doubles. Simmons has not played since February 26 of this year. In a “tank” year for the Brooklyn Nets, no more Mikal Bridges either, Simmons has a chance to make a tremendous impact. Simmons has an ADP (average draft position) of 163.8 next to players like Gradey Dick and Dyson Daniels.
In fantasy basketball, someone who fills the stat sheet up is better than someone who drops 20 points a night. Ben Simmons had 34 fantasy points last season in a game where he had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Nets will be a bad team. Ben Simmons will be the best player on the Nets, pending his health for the upcoming season. Draft Ben Simmons in the 14th round and enjoy.
Malcolm Brogden, Washington Wizards
Malcolm Brogden has dealt with a chronic elbow injury. He played in 39 games last season, 67 two years ago, and 36 games three years ago. Brogden, this time, does not come with a heavy price tag. Draft Brogden in the 14th round and enjoy the fifth-round production when he plays.
The intriguing part is the team he is on now, the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are bad. Brogden will be the veteran leader of this team, along with Jonas Valanciunas. The starting point guard will be Brogden, alongside Jordan Poole as his backcourt mate. Also, averaging 26.2 fantasy ppg last season, which had him ranked 21st among all point guards. All in all, when it comes to point guard sleepers, there are not many better than Brogden for the 2024 season.
