2024 Fantasy Football Playoffs Championship Winners

I hope that if you are reading this, you are in your league’s Fantasy Football Championship and that this series has made some sort of impact in getting you there. Every week this season I went through and analyzed NFL matchups focusing on factors such as Fantasy points allowed per game, yards allowed, and player performances to predict who would excel. It has been a long season and this series has always taken up the most time but it has been well worth it to align with my intention as a content creator … to help YOU “Play 2 Win”.

Last week this article was red hot with players who had great performances in the Fantasy Football Semifinals: Xavier Worthy (20.5 Fantasy Points), James Conner (26.6 Fantasy Points), Chuba Hubbard (32.5 Fantasy Points), Jahmyr Gibbs (25.4 Fantasy Points), Caleb Williams (22.76 Fantasy Points), Chig Okonkwo (19.1 Fantasy Points), Anthony Richardson (20.24 Fantasy Points), Tee Higgins (19.8 Fantasy Points), DK Metcalf (14.7 Fantasy Points), James Cook (27.6 Fantasy Points), Saquon Barkley (27  Fantasy Points), Jerome Ford (24.1 Fantasy Points), De’Von Achane (31 Fantasy Points), Deebo Samuel (25.1 Fantasy Points), and Bucky Irving (18.2 Fantasy Points).

We are finally in Championship week, which means now is more important than ever to secure those W’s. I will approach this article slightly differently this week and cut to the chase regarding player spotlights. We have a very dynamic schedule with games starting Wednesday – Sunday which makes for plenty of excitement for the holiday week.

I hope you win those Championships, but more importantly, I hope you all have a great holiday with your families. It has been a long year for a lot of people so now is the time to truly enjoy yourself with the people you love the most. Alright alright alright back to football.

2024 Fantasy Football Playoffs Championship Winners

Quarterbacks:

Bo Nix threw 29/40 in Week 16 for 263 yards and two touchdowns while adding 25 more yards with his legs. 21.02 Fantasy Points last week is the fifth time this year the rookie has scored 21+ this season. Nix has finished eight weeks this season with multiple passing touchdowns, four weeks with over 270 passing yards, five weeks with 35+ rushing yards, and four weeks with a rushing touchdown. Nix will now face a Bengals defense in Week 17 that allows the fourth-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and the seventh-most passing yards per game. Joe Burrow and his weapons on the other side of the ball should mean Nix having to do plenty in this one, which elevates his ceiling even more in a great matchup. Smash start.

Brock Purdy threw 26/40 for 313 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and rushed for 26 yards last week which was 22.12 Fantasy Points. Purdy has alternated from terrible to top-12 Fantasy performances the last four weeks, but in general, has had a solid Fantasy year. Purdy has scored over 20 Fantasy Points seven times this season, three for over 300 yards four times, threw multiple passing touchdowns five times, rushed for over 30 yards four times, and scored four rushing touchdowns. Purdy will now face a Lions defense that allows the 11th-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and the sixth-most passing yards per game. The Lions offense is one of the best in the NFL, arguably the best, which should mean plenty of passing from Purdy in this one.

Bryce Young is my favorite streaming quarterback this week and is coming off his best Fantasy performance of the season with 27.12 Fantasy Points (QB2). Young only finished with 158 passing yards last week but with two passing touchdowns, a season-high 68 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown. Young has had sneaky rushing upside the last few weeks with three rushing touchdowns across his last four games. Young will face a Buccaneers defense in Week 17 that he threw 26/46 for 298 passing yards and a touchdown against in Week 13 where he added a rushing touchdown which meant 23.62 Fantasy Points. Tampa Bay allows the second-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and the third-most passing yards per game this season.

Mason Rudolph is another sneaky sleeper quarterback this week if you need one in Superflex league formats. Across Rudolph’s last four games played he has averaged 32.75 passing attempts, 21.5 completions, 241.75 passing yards, 1.75 passing touchdowns, 1.75 interceptions, and 18.55 Fantasy Points. Rudolph faces a Jaguars defense in Week 17 allowing the most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and the most passing yards per game.

Running Backs:

Bucky Irving scored 27.5 Fantasy Points back in Week 13 against the Panthers and Rachaad White 8.8. That week the rookie rushed 25 times for a season-high 152 rushing yards, scored a rushing touchdown, and caught three passes for 33 yards. In that same game, White also rushed efficiently for 76 yards on just 11 attempts. The Panthers allow the most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the most rushing yards per game this season, which I believe makes both Irving and White good plays for this week with the priority in Irving. Bucky has scored 15+ Fantasy Points seven times this season, and White has five times. Irving has scored 27+ points twice and White over 24 points twice. David Montgomery’s injury means the Buccaneers backfield takes over as the best duo in the NFL.

Jonathan Taylor had a vintage performance in week 16, rushing 29 times for 218 yards and three rushing touchdowns which was a massive 39.8 Fantasy Points. Season-highs across the board right there. Taylor has finished back-to-back games with over 100 rushing yards and has surpassed the 100 now in six of his twelve games played. JT has a nice opportunity to stay hot in Week 17 against a Patriots defense allowing the seventh-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the ninth-most rushing yards per game this season. Taylor’s volume has been solid with 23+ touches for three straight games.

Breece Hall rushed 18 times for a season-high 113 yards in Week 6 against the Bills and also caught five passes for 56 yards which was 21.9 Fantasy Points. Hall has an opportunity to repeat a big performance against the Bills in Week 17 who allow the third-most Fantasy PPG to running backs this season. Hall missed Week 14 then returned to 48% of the snaps in Week 15, and upped that to 77% of the snaps in Week 16 which was a positive sign of health. Hall has consistently been a big part of the passing game with six weeks of five or more catches this season and has finished five weeks with over 20 Fantasy Points. So in the event the Jets have to chase the Bills in this one, we can at least be optimistic Hall gets the receiving work.

Tyjae Spears has been on fire the last two weeks with scores of 27.2 and 21.6 Fantasy Points. Spears rushed for a touchdown in Week 15 but his receiving stat line was massive catching six balls for 87 yards and a receiving touchdown. Spears then rushed for a pair of touchdowns in Week 16 while also catching three passes for 39 yards. I do not believe Tony Pollard is fully healthy, and regardless if he is or is not Spears has been taking over the last two weeks with these performances while playing 56% then 61% of the snaps. Spears will now face a Jaguars defense that allows the second-most Fantasy PPG to running backs this season.

Ameer Abdullah has scored 19.6 and then 19.5 Fantasy Points in the last two weeks. Seven catches for 58 yards and a receiving touchdown in Week 15 then a rushing touchdown and five catches for 47 yards in Week 16. Abdullah has been in a committee with Alexander Mattison but has thrived in that the last two weeks with both scoring and receiving upside. The Saints allow the fifth-most Fantasy PPG to running backs this season, and after scoring 0 points last week I feel the Raiders can utilized their running backs a ton in this matchup to just manage this one out.

Gus Edwards rushed 14 times for 68 yards and two touchdowns last week for 20.1 Fantasy Points. This was the first time this season Edwards has scored double-digit Fantasy Points, and his Fantasy stock is likely centered around touchdown scoring but we know this is the upside he brings as a guy who scored 13 total last year. Across the last five games Edwards has scored four rushing touchdowns and now faces a Patriots defense allowing the seventh-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the ninth-most rushing yards per game. Another sleeper running back for the list.

Wide Receivers:

Nico Collins has scored 20.2, 19.9, 17.7, and 15 Fantasy Points in the four games played at 70%+ of the snaps since returning from injury. Collins is a steady producer with a great connection to CJ Stroud, which will need to be even stronger now that Houston is not only without Stefon Diggs but also Tank Dell who will miss the rest of the season with knee injuries from last week. Collins’ 10 targets last week is a stat I believe will be mirrored in Week 17 and some against a Ravens defense allowing the second-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and second-most passing yards per game. Collins is always a strong start, but Week 17 could be a massive performance in a big matchup against the Ravens.

Terry McLaurin has had a great year with rookie Jayden Daniels and has been hot across his last four games. During this stretch, Scary Terry has averaged 7.5 targets, 6.25 receptions, 77 receiving yards, 1.5 touchdowns, and 22.95 Fantasy Points. Six total touchdowns across these last four games screams the upside McLaurin has with Daniels, and he has a career-high 12 total on the season. McLaurin will face a Falcons defense in Week 17 allowing the fourth-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers which is a great matchup to stay on fire for Fantasy Football.

Jayden Reed exploded back in Week 4 against the Vikings, catching seven of his eight targets for 139 yards and a touchdown which was 27.1 Fantasy Points. Reed has an opportunity to ball out again against the same team in Week 17, and the Vikings allow the most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the fourth-most passing yards per game. Reed’s usage has been extremely inconsistent this season, but his Fantasy upside is very evident with scores of 33.1 (Week 1), 27.1 (Week 4), 16.3 (Week 9), and 19.7 (Week 13) Fantasy Points. Some positive signs recently were the three rushing attempts for 27 yards in Week 15 and then the 76 receiving yards in Week 16 which shows his versatility. Reed is a risky FLEX play but worth taking a shot on in Week 17.

Calvin Ridley caught three of his five targets last week from Mason Rudolph for 78 yards and a touchdown which was 16.8 Fantasy Points. Ridley posted another huge performance with Rudolph as the quarterback back in Week 8 where he caught 10 of 15 targets for 143 yards. There is a clear connection between this quarterback-wide receiver pair, and with the Jaguars allowing the fifth-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the most passing yards per game we can see a huge game out of Ridley. In Week 14 Ridley posted 59 yards against the Jaguars but Week 17 will be a much bigger performance against his former team. RIDLEY REVENGE WEEK.

Adam Thielen caught eight of his 10 targets for 99 yards and a touchdown back in Week 13 against the Buccaneers and has an opportunity to repeat a big performance against the same team in Week 17. Tampa Bay allows the 10th-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the third-most passing yards per game, which makes this a great matchup. Thielen has scored double-digit Fantasy Points for four straight games now, with two of those games earning double-digit targets, weeks of 99/102 yards in there, two touchdowns scored during this span, and six+ catches in all four. If you roster Thielen, you play Thielen in Week 17.

Keenan Allen is the WR6 in total Fantasy scoring across Weeks 12-16 with scores of 23.6, 24.3, six, 20.2, and 29.1 Fantasy Points during this stretch. Three games of 13+ targets, four games of 73+ yards, three games of 82+ yards, and five touchdowns have supported this explosion. Allen’s 141 receiving yards last week was a season-high, and the connection to rookie Caleb Williams is extremely clear. Allen will now face a Seahawks defense in Week 17 that allows the 11th-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers which should mean continued Fantasy impacts this week.

Tight Ends

To conclude this article, I will list the Top-10 matchups in Fantasy PPG allowed for the tight end position, and then the tight end who gets that matchup in Week 17:

  1. Bengals – Adam Trautman (pass on playing him)
  2. Colts – Daniel Bellinger (pass on playing him)
  3. Panthers – Cade Otton (not sure if he will return from injury)
  4. Chiefs – Pat Freiermuth (ranged from 11-2-18.8 Fantasy Points Weeks 13-15)
  5. Raiders – Juwan Johnson (pass on playing him)
  6. Buccaneers – Ja’Tavion Sanders (0 targets last week – pass)
  7. Jaguars – Chig Okonkwo (13.9 / 19.1 Fantasy Points the last two weeks. On fire)
  8. Browns – Jonnu Smith (Averaging 16.42 Fantasy Points since Week 7 – strong start)
  9. Rams – Trey McBride (TE3 on the season. Major bounce-back week coming)
  10. Packers – TJ Hockenson (down weeks but still well targeted and a must-start)
