2024 Fantasy Football: Week 1 Quarterback Rankings

The 2024 NFL season has finally arrived, and it’s time to unleash the Week 1 quarterback rankings! The rankings will be released each Wednesday and include notes on some of the week’s matchups to help with lineup decisions throughout the season.

Week 1 is difficult to predict. However, in the first couple weeks of the season, the general strategy is to trust your draft process and start your studs. You’ve already done your homework and invested time into the position, so this is the time of year when you should feel most comfortable rolling out your guys. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the Week 1 quarterback rankings and notes.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2024 season.

Quarterback Notes

  • I’m all in on Jordan Love this week. He faces an Eagles defense that allowed the second-most passing touchdowns and fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2023. Love should have no problem taking advantage. He finished as the QB5 last season, averaging 20.6 fantasy points and 271 passing yards since Week 10. He also threw for multiple scores in eight of his last nine games, with only one interception in that stretch. The Week 1 matchup kicks off in Brazil and is expected to be a high-scoring affair. Love should be able to pick up where he left off in 2023 and ranks as the QB7 in my Week 1 quarterback rankings.
  • All eyes will be on Jayden Daniels in Week 1. The rookie is a dual-threat quarterback with immense rushing upside who should thrive under a Kliff Kingsbury offense. While it’s unclear how Daniels will adjust to the NFL’s speed of play, his debut against Tampa Bay should be a favorable one. The Buccaneers allowed the third-most passing yards and eighth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks last season. They also gave up six rushing touchdowns to the position, tied for second-most. Daniels should be able to exploit with his legs and is my QB9 for Week 1.
  • Matthew Stafford rounds out my top-12 quarterbacks in Week 1. He faces his former team in a matchup with the highest expected point total on the Week 1 slate. Stafford last faced the Lions in the 2023 postseason, throwing for 367 yards and two touchdowns. He also racked up 22.7 fantasy points. Stafford should be able to put up strong numbers again. Detroit was one of the most generous defenses to quarterbacks last season, allowing the third-most fantasy points and fourth-most passing yards to the position. Expect an air assault on Sunday, with Stafford (and Jared Goff) benefitting.
  • Joe Burrow falls just outside QB1-territory in my rankings, which feels weird. But he gets a somewhat difficult matchup against a Patriots defense that allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2023. The unit also successfully contained the air game, allowing the 10th-fewest passing yards and second-fewest passing touchdowns. Burrow ranks as the QB13 in my Week 1 quarterback rankings, behind dual-threat options like Jayden Daniels and quarterbacks who should air it out a ton, like Jared Goff and Tua Tagovailoa. Burrow is primed for a bounce-back season; just temper expectations in Week 1.
