Can you believe we are nearly a third of the way through the fantasy football season? We have finally started to see some action, and are in full fantasy mode! Week 5 put up some of the best numbers yet, so let’s hope our teams can continue to shine. Stuck between two players and don’t know who to start in Week 6? In these weekly articles, I will review and help you decide which WRs and TEs to start and sit every week based on matchups, weather conditions, injuries, and more. You’ll never see studs like Justin Jefferson or CeeDee Lamb on this list, but this is more advice to help you decide between those two players that will help you set and win your weekly lineup. Week 5 Start and Sit
Start ‘Em Wide Receivers
Diontae Johnson vs. Atlanta Falcons
Diontae came back down to earth after back-to-back 20+ point performances in Week 3 and 4. Held to just 3 receptions for 23 yards in Week 5, he should be in for a nice bounce-back vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Since being named the starting QB, Andy Dalton averages 35 pass attempts per game, and Johnson sees 11 targets a game. He’s clearly been the WR1 for Dalton in Carolina, and in this divisional game, I expect the Panthers to put up a fight against the Falcons. Johnson is in for a solid WR3 with WR2 upside. Fire him up!
Rome Odunze vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The rookie WR continues to build rapport with rookie QB Caleb Williams, and this is another matchup that should continue to enhance that chemistry. Since his breakout game in Week 3, Odunze has not posted a double-digit fantasy game. So why start Odunze this week? Well, the Bears face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. The Jags come in allowing the most fantasy points to WRs, and Caleb Williams continues to get comfortable at the NFL level. While DJ Moore leads the Bears WRs with a 26.1% team target-share and is the clear WR1 in that offense, this leaves room for the rookie to have his fair share of targets in Week 6. He’s got FLEX appeal in Week 6.
Calvin Ridley vs. Indianapolis Colts
This Tennessee Titans offense has been tough to watch in 2024, but they come into a favorable Week 6 matchup against a Colts team that has allowed 180.2 yards per game to WRs. Just last week, the Colts allowed Brian Thomas Jr. to go for 8/122/1TD. Ridley is the WR1 option in Tennessee, and in this divisional matchup, I expect the Titans to put up a fight. Fresh off a bye week, I expect this offense to come out firing, making Ridley a solid WR3 in Week 6.
Sit ‘Em Wide Receivers
Any LA Chargers WRs vs. Denver Broncos
While Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston have had some flex appeal at times, this matchup is going to cause headaches for this entire Chargers offense. Justin Herbert should be benched, and every Chargers WR should be benched. This Broncos secondary didn’t allow Mike Evans or Garrett Wilson to exceed 50 yards. and I don’t anticipate any Chargers WR to put up more than 10 fantasy points in Week 6. Leave them on your bench.
Garrett Wilson vs. Buffalo Bills
Wilson just had his best game of the season, why are you saying to bench him? First off, this Bills defense has not been kind to the opposing WR position; they allow the 5th-fewest points to WRs. Additionally, with the Jets firing HC Robert Saleh, we are not entirely sure what this team is going to look like. Wilson might see 8+ targets, but there has only been ONE time this season, he’s turned that into more than 15 points. Chances are you drafted him early and you might have to start him due to bye weeks and injuries, but unfortunately, there are better options at WR in Week 6.
Courtland Sutton vs. Los Angeles Chargers
The Broncos have actually been somewhat entertaining to watch this year, am I right? Bo Nix has surprised some people and continues to get better. In a tough divisional matchup vs. the LA Chargers, Courtland Sutton should stay on your bench. Though he comes in with a team-high 41 targets, that has turned into only two 10+ fantasy performances, and three below 8 points. The Chargers allow the 4th-fewest fantasy points to the WR position, making this a recipe for disaster. Leave him on the bench to avoid disaster on your roster.

Start ‘Em Tight Ends
Tyler Conklin vs. Buffalo Bills
Tyler Conklin has flown under the radar after the rollercoaster of a season the Jets have had. In the last three weeks, Conklin comes in averaging nearly 8 targets a game, 5 receptions, and 51 yards a game. In what I described as a tough matchup for Garrett Wilson, I anticipate he gets bottled up, opening the floor for Conklin. Start him as a low-tier TE1 this week.
Tucker Kraft vs. Arizona Cardinals
Tucker Kraft made my “Start ‘Em” list last week, and he finds himself back this week. Averaging 21 fantasy points in the last 2 weeks, Kraft finds himself going against a team that just gave up 8/64/1TD to George Kittle. As long as Jordan Love is under center, Kraft is turning into a “Must-Start” Tight End in fantasy football. Start him with confidence this week!
Cole Kmet vs. Indianapolis Colts
I’ve talked about how bad the Indianapolis Colts defense is in this article, and Cole Kmet falls as another piece that should benefit. Though Kmet has only seen 7 targets over the past 2 games, in what could potentially be a high-scoring game, I want all pieces of this Chicago offense. Fire him up in Week 6!
Sit ‘Em Tight Ends
Dalton Schultz vs. New England Patriots
Nico Collins is officially on IR, and while Schultz could potentially benefit, I believe there are still too many mouths to feed in Houston for Schultz to make a difference. Through 5 weeks, Schultz’s highest fantasy performance has yet to surpass 8 points, see more than 4 receptions, and record a TD. Leave him on your bench, it doesn’t seem he’ll be fantasy-relevant in 2024.
Hunter Henry vs. Houston Texans
It’s officially the Drake Maye show in New England! In his first career start, Maye will face off against a Houston Texans defense that allows the 2nd-fewest points to the TE, so I expect lots of Ja’Lynn Polk and even more Demario Douglas. Leave Henry on your bench this week.
Mike Gesicki vs. New York Giants
Mike Gesicki got off to a nice start in his career in Cincinnati while Tee Higgins was out. Since Higgins’ return to this offense, Gesicki has seen his contributions to this offense diminish. In the last 2 games, he’s seen 3 combined targets, with 22 total yards. As long as Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase are both active, Gesicki has no fantasy relevance.
