It seems like only yesterday we were drafting our teams and had high expectations and hopes for the fantasy football season. Seven weeks in, we are riddled with injuries from knees to concussions to hamstrings. We are all looking at our teams and trying to find the value to get that win we need right now to make that push toward the fantasy playoffs. Here are Week 7’s wide receiver streamers and sleepers to help you get a W and push toward a championship.
Week 7 Wide Receiver Sleepers and Streamers
Streamers
Darius Slayton – New York Giants
All Giants fans are hoping that standout rookie Malik Nabers can come back in Week 7 after missing two games with a concussion. Even if he doesn’t Darius Slayton continues to be the second man on two wide sets. He has seen a big uptick in targets with Nabers sidelined but that could continue as teams start to bracket-cover Nabers once he comes back into the lineup. Slayton has seen double-digit targets in the past two weeks which ash pushed him to solid fantasy production in PPR leagues.
Week 7 brings in the divisional rival Philadelphia Eagles. Despite having a very solid and deep group of corners and safeties the Eagles are giving up the fifth most points to wide receivers. Slayton is a veteran receiver who should be able to continue to be a solid option for quarterback Daniel Jones. His total opportunities might drop if Nabers does return but until we know that for certain I’m willing to fire up Slayton in my flex spot.
Greg Dortch – Arizona Cardinals
Things have fallen off for Greg Dortch after his hot eight targets in Week 1. He only has 19 targets in the five games since then. That is a 3.8 target pace. Things could be turning around for the young wideout. Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. left the Week 6 game with a concussion. His status for Week 7 remains unknown. It is a Monday night game so the extra day might allow him to clear protocol. Dortch saw a slight uptick in snaps with Harrison out. He was back over 60% after dipping to 41% the previous week.
It’s a tough matchup for Dortch against the Los Angeles Chargers. They are currently giving up the seventh fewest points to wide receivers. If you are looking to use Dortch as a wide receiver streamer you want Harrison to be back on the field. The Chargers have two solid outside corners in Kristian Fulton and Cam Hart but struggle in the slot. The slot is where Dortch normally plays when everyone is healthy. That would line him up across from Tarheeb Still who PFF.com rates as the 77th best corner. With their best coverage linebacker having to focus on tight end Trey McBride it should open up the middle of the field for Dortch and give him plenty of opportunities.
Xavier Worthy – Kansas City Chiefs
We get a Super Bowl rematch this Sunday with the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to San Francisco to face the 49ers. It’s a matchup that should produce a ton of real and fantasy points. Someone I think who will be involved heavily for the Chiefs is rookie Xavier Worthy. The speedy rookie has shown flashes of what he can be in this offense and should continue to do so this week.
The Chiefs are coming off their bye week which gives them a massive leg up on the 49ers. They have had time to not only rest and get healthy but also implement some new and creative plays to their playbook. If you are looking for versatility then Worthy is your man. His speed alone opens up so much. He has the ability to run past defenders on deep passes and can get to the edge on designed run plays and bubble screens. With the pass rush the 49ers have getting the ball out quickly to playmakers will be paramount for Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid. Worthy is also coming off back-to-back WR2-type weeks and already has two touchdowns on the season in the receiving game. I expect the Chiefs to find ways to get him open and showcase him in this marquee matchup.
Sleepers
Ray-Ray McCloud – Atlanta Falcons
It’s hard to imagine that a team could support Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooney, and Ray-Ray McCloud as viable fantasy options on top of probably two running backs but that is what we have with the Atlanta Falcons. When I’m looking for a wide receiver sleeper I want a player who has big play potential and that is exactly what McCloud is. He has over 40 yards in all but two games this season. His average yards per catch is 10.79. He is doing a ton with very few receptions. He also returns kicks which could boost his production if he can finally take one all the way.
Week 7 the Falcons face the Seahawks which is a good matchup. Both teams can score so the passing game across the board will be open. The Seahawks have a good secondary at the tip but lack depth which could play into McCloud’s favor in four-wide sets. It only takes one long reception for him to be a solid wide receiver sleeper and he has done that in most games this year. As quarterback Kirk Cousins continues to become more comfortable in this offense it raises the value of all the other players involved.
Bub Means – New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have one of the toughest matchups in Week 7. They face the Denver Broncos who are currently giving up the fewest points to wide receivers. If I’m rostering Rashid Shaheed I’m worried. I’m worried about the concussion that Chris Olave suffered in Week 6 but I like that it opened up opportunities for rookie Bub Means. What we saw in Week 6 after Olave went down was Means get eight targets catching five of them for 45 yards and a score.
Means also has the benefit of working with now-starting quarterback Spencer Rattler in practice and camp. Both are rookies and have seemed to form a bond. That chemistry is huge, especially against a tough matchup. Is Means the next superstar? No, but he can be a solid wide receiver sleeper if your team lost Olave or one of the numerous other injuries we have seen over the past six weeks.
Tim Patrick – Detroit Lions
Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Remember 2020 and 2021? The years when Tim Patrick, then playing with the Denver Broncos, had six and then five touchdowns and looked like a developing weekly fantasy flex play. If you remember those years and how good Patrick was you were sad to see him miss the following two seasons with injuries but have been very happy with what he is doing now on the Detroit Lions. Similar to his time in Denver Patrick is the third receiver option behind Amon-Ra St Brown and Jameson Williams. That hasn’t stopped him from producing solid numbers in back-to-back weeks. Despite only having five catches over that two week span he has 120 yards. He has proven he can be a deep ball threat. It’s a sneaky play if you are looking for a wide receiver sleeper.
The Lions face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 which provides a great matchup across the board for their receivers. The Vikings are currently giving up the third most fantasy points to wide receivers. Patrick has the potential to get his first score of the year as this divisional game has a 50-point over/under. Patrick is a looming red zone threat at 6’5. The Lions haven’t needed to use him in that way yet with how good the running game is but the Vikings are very solid against the run. I expect the Lions to throw the ball early and often as they look to knock off the kings of their division. Patrick should continue to see a few deep shots a game and catch most of them.
