NBA Player Prop Bets for April 27
Trae Young UNDER 32 Points:
In what was a shocking victory (to me at least), the Hawks beat the Celtics in a closeout game on the road. Trae Young was the hero and dropped 38 points on an inefficient 14/33 shooting. Dejounte Murray was suspended that game for bumping into a ref, so Trae Young took more shots than he will tonight, with a higher usage rate. With Murray back tonight, I expect Young to shoot around 10 fewer shots, which will lead to our UNDER hitting, assuming Trae doesn’t go 50% from the field. The Celtics have the third-ranked defense in the league, and they’re going to want to finish this series tonight, so they can move on to the next round without putting extra mileage on their bodies. He’s had 32 or less in three of the five games this series.
Jayson Tatum OVER 30 Points:
Jayson Tatum hasn’t been playing like himself in this series, but it hasn’t really mattered as the Celtics have been getting so many great performances out of their role players like White, Brogdon, and Robert Williams. Tatum has scored UNDER 30 points in four of the five games this series, on very inefficient shooting. Tonight, he’ll be depended on to carry the load, and have some good momentum going into the next round. The Hawks have the 22nd-ranked defense and play at the 4th fastest pace in the league, so I anticipate Tatum will have plenty of extra possessions to take over. Admittedly, I would’ve had this same thesis for Games 1-5 (and been wrong in all but one game), but after that tough loss in Game 5, I don’t think the Celtics will rely on their role players as heavily as they have in the past. It will be a “mamba mentality” game for Tatum tonight.
De’Andre Hunter OVER 10 Points:
Role player or not…it doesn’t matter how you view Hunter. He may be a three-and-D guy theoretically, but when the game starts, he takes the role of the 2nd or 3rd scoring option. He’s taken 10 or more shots in all five games and has topped out at 17 and 19 shots. He’s averaging 16 PPG in this series and in a must-win game, I don’t think he’ll be slowing down. I feel very comfortable about this hitting, and the odds wouldn’t be the best, so I’d throw this OVER into a parlay.
