59 Essential Notes from Week 14 Heading into the Fantasy Playoffs

Each week I do the dirty work and look at every single team, taking notes of who did what from a Fantasy Football lens. This takes some time but is important to do each week so that we can identify players trending up/down, be aware of role changes, make roster transactions, and understand bigger pictures. We should always be learning and adjusting when it comes to Fantasy Football – it is what can separate you from your league mates. Here are the important notes from Week 14 that you should be aware of as we are heading into the Fantasy Playoffs.

Week 14 Notes that Will Help You in the Fantasy Football Playoffs

  1. Drake London showed us just how talented he truly is, especially when he is actually utilized. Week 14 saw a season-high 10 receptions on 11 targets for a season-high 172 receiving yards. The most important season-high of this group was the 29.2 Fantasy Points. Week 14 was the third time London finished with over 18 Fantasy Points this season.
  2. Desmond Ridder totaled 347 passing yards which is what truly boosted that Drake London big game, and his lone touchdown pass ended up in Kyle Pitts’ hands.
  3. 34 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with five receptions for 54 yards meant a 19.8 Fantasy Point score for Bijan Robinson. Three total touchdowns and two weeks over 19 Fantasy Points for Bijan across his last three games following the Week 11 BYE.
  4. Lamar Jackson had one of his best Fantasy Football weeks of the season, due to the combination of 316 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, and 70 rushing yards. Jackson’s Fantasy season has not necessarily been the most consistent, but he is obviously one of the most high-upside quarterbacks to roster for Fantasy Football.
  5. With Mark Andrews out for the season, Zay Flowers has scored 20+ Fantasy Points in each of his last two games. That makes three total touchdowns across these last two games played for the first-round rookie. Flowers caught six of his 10 targets for 60 yards in Week 14.
  6. “Revenge game” narrative in Week 14 with Odell Beckham Jr. facing the Rams, and it ended up being his best Fantasy Football week. Four receptions on a season-high 10 targets for a season-high 97 receiving yards. 19.7 Fantasy Points for OBJ in Week 14 was the third time across his last five games played he scored 14+ Fantasy Points.
  7. Isaiah Likely caught five of seven targets for 83 receiving yards in Week 14, in place of Mark Andrews as the new starting tight end. Likely had some big weeks as a rookie, and could be a solid play for the rest of the season due to his displayed receiving yard upside and Jackson’s history utilizing his TE1.
  8. James Cook rushed 10 times for 58 yards, but more importantly, finished with a huge receiving stat-line, catching five passes for 83 yards and a score. 19.2, 16, and 25.1 Fantasy Points is a positive trend, and the receiving upside has been evident the last two weeks with 57 then 83 yards through the air.
  9. Josh Allen threw for 233 yards, a passing touchdown, and an interception, and rushed for 32 yards and a score. 10 rushing touchdowns on the year helps his 14-interception column.
  10. Signs of SOME life for Adam Thielen in Week 14. After scoring under six Fantasy Points in both Weeks 12 and 13, Thielen scored 12.4 in Week 14. Five receptions on seven targets for 74 receiving yards. Jonathan Mingo scored poorly but still led the wide receiver room with nine targets.
  11. DJ Moore caught six of his 10 targets for 68 receiving yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 20 yards and a touchdown. Across the last five full Justin Fields games, DJM is averaging 10.2 targets, eight receptions, 127.8 receiving yards, 1.2 touchdowns, and 29.58 Fantasy Points.
  12. Justin Fields threw 19/33 for 223 yards, a touchdown, rushed for 58 yards, and scored a rushing touchdown. Week 13 marks the third time Fields has scored over 24 Fantasy Points in a week.
  13. After Roschon Johnson led the backfield in Chicago Week 12 before the Week 13 BYE, D’onta Foreman led in touches for Week 14 with 13. Khalil Herbert finished with three touches, and Johnson with one. Foreman missed Week 12, so it looks as though he is the guy in the backfield but this is murky.
  14. Back-to-back Fantasy weeks for Jake Browning with over 23 Fantasy Points, which makes him look like a possible streamer. In both games Browning rushed for a touchdown and threw for three total. 354 then 275 passing yards the last two weeks.
  15. Joe Mixon has been on a hot streak since the Week 7 BYE, which continued into Week 14. 21 rushing attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown along with three receptions for 46 yards in Week 14 for 21.5 Fantasy Points. Mixon has scored 20+ Fantasy Points in four of his last seven games and in back-to-back weeks. Three straight weeks of 44+ receiving yards is significant.
  16. Huge week for David Njoku in Week 14, who finished with a season-high 91 yards and scored twice. 27.1 Fantasy Points was a season-high for Njoku, who has been extremely consistent in Weeks 7-14 outside of the Week 13 scoring asterisk. Six receptions on eight targets in Week 14.
  17. News broke on Monday that Joe Flacco was demoted back to the practice squad, which makes him eligible to sign elsewhere. Not sure the direction this is going, but Flacco has been solid the last two weeks for Fantasy Football and real-life football. 254 and 311 passing yards and five total passing touchdowns across the last two weeks is notable passing upside for the veteran.
  18. CeeDee Lamb continues to be arguably the best wide receiver to roster for Fantasy Football. Six receptions on 10 targets for 71 receiving yards and a touchdown for 19.1 Fantasy Points. Lamb is currently the WR2 for Fantasy on the Year, averaging 21.8 Fantasy PPG. Lamb has finished five weeks above that average.
  19. Dak Prescott threw 24/39 for 271 passing yards and two touchdowns. In the seven games following the Week 7 BYE, Dak has thrown two touchdowns in two of those weeks but for three or more in five of those games.
  20. Tony Pollard rushed 16 times for 59 yards and caught seven passes for 37 yards. Seven receptions tied Pollard’s season-high total from Week 2. 16.6 Fantasy Points in Week 14 marks the fourth week in a row that Pollard has scored that or more points.
  21. Solid Week 14 for Javonte Williams, who rushed 17 times for 66 yards and a touchdown and also caught three passes for 25 yards. Week 14 marked the third time this season Williams scored 18+ Fantasy Points. 20 total touches is a desirable volume.
  22. Courtland Sutton cannot stop scoring touchdowns this season. Sutton caught his 10th touchdown of the year and has only played three games on the season where he did not score.
  23. After trailing David Montgomery by 10 touches in Week 13, Jahmyr Gibbs out-touched Montgomery 14 to 13. Both running backs rushed for 66 yards on the dot, with Gibbs scoring a rushing touchdown.
  24. Devin Singletary rushed 13 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in comparison to Dameon Pierce who rushed four times for just nine yards. Singletary has clearly been the better running back this season, and I feel like Houston is putting this together.
  25. Michael Pittman Jr. continues to be utilized as an alpha wide receiver and to perform as an alpha wide receiver. 13, 16, 11 targets across the last three games following the Week 11 BYE have resulted in 107, 105, and 95 receiving yards. 20.7, 27.5, and 19.5 Fantasy Points the last three weeks.
  26. Season-highs across the board for Evan Engram in Week 14, catching 11 of his 12 targets for 95 yards. 32.5 Fantasy Points in Week 14 follows up a huge 23.2 Fantasy Point performance from Week 13. Engram has earned seven or more targets in 11 games this season and has finished seven weeks as a top-seven Fantasy tight end.
  27. Trevor Lawrence threw a season-high 50 times in Week 14, completing 28 of those attempts for 257 passing yards. Lawrence threw both three touchdowns and three interceptions in Week 14.
  28. Travis Etienne rushed 14 times for 35 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 37 yards. The second game in a row with a rushing touchdown, the third consecutive week catching four passes and the second week in a row with 17-ish Fantasy Points.
  29. Rashee Rice has looked like the true #1 for Patrick Mahomes the last three weeks, even over Travis Kelce. Rice has earned 10, nine, 10 targets and caught eight, eight, and seven of those targets in the last three games. Rice has finished with 107, 64, and 72 yards in the last three games, scoring in two of them and ranging from 14.4 to 24.7 Fantasy Points during this stretch.
  30. Travis Kelce caught six of his 10 targets for 83 receiving yards and scored 14.3 Fantasy Points. 91, 81 then 83 receiving yards the last three weeks for the GOAT.
  31. With Isaiah Pacheco out injured, Clyde Edwards-Healire finished with 13 touches and  Jerick McKinnon finished with seven touches. McKinnon rushed for a touchdown and produced 37 scrimmage yards while CEH produced 68 scrimmage yards.
  32. Bounce-back game for Austin Ekeler rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown and catching five passes for 49 yards. 21 Fantasy Points was reassuring after Ekeler scored under 10 the last three weeks in a row.
  33. Quentin Johnston finished with a season-high 91 yards on just three catches, which was 39 more yards than his season-high total from last week.
  34. Cooper Kupp looked more Cooper Kupp in Week 15, catching eight of his 10 targets for 115 yards and a touchdown. 25.5 Fantasy Points in Week 14 is a positive trend from the 15.9 in the week prior, and all of those who said he was “washed up” likely were silenced.
  35. Matthew Stafford has finished as a top 10 Fantasy quarterback for three straight weeks now with scores of 23.7, 23 and 24.4 Fantasy Points. Stafford has thrown 294, 279, and 229 yards going backward during this span, and has totaled 13 touchdowns across these three games.
  36. Kyren Williams totaled 28 touches, which was the second time this season he has hit that volume mark. Williams rushed for 114 yards on the day, which marks his fifth time this season rushing for over 100 yards and second time across the last three weeks. Volume and production continue to be tied to Kyren.
  37. Puka Nacua had himself another decent day, catching five of his eight targets for 84 yards. Puka has earned seven or more targets in every game played this season, and this was the sixth week producing over 80 receiving yards.
  38. Back-to-back weeks scoring exactly 12.3 Fantasy Points for Davante Adams. Encouraging is earning double-digit targets in three of Adams’ last four games, but the Fantasy scoring simply is not where we would like it to be.
  39. After throwing 10/23 for 63 yards, Joshua Dobbs was benched for Nick Mullens. Important to note due to the possibility there is a change at quarterback here.
  40. Vintage Ezekiel Elliott game with Rhamondre Stevenson out injured. Zeke rushed 22 times for 68 yards and caught seven passes for 72 yards and a touchdown for 27 Fantasy Points. Heavy volume and production have true Fantasy Football implications until Stevenson returns.
  41. Bailey Zappe had himself a big game, throwing 19/28 for 240 yards and three touchdowns to one interception. Maybe this is not a note that is pushing to pick up Zappe, but it is a note that a big performance that resulted in a win surely means Mac Jones is staying on the bench.
  42. Hunter Henry caught all three targets for 40 yards, with two of those resulting in a touchdown. Week 14’s 19 Fantasy Points is the third week Henry has scored 16+, but due to the inconsistent volume and production, I am not sure we can trust him.
  43. JuJu Smith-Schuster had his first productive day catching four of his six targets for a season-high 90 receiving yards.
  44. Zach Wilson had his best week of the year in Week 14, throwing an efficient 27/36 for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson is apparently dealing with a knee injury, but this performance is encouraging for the other weapons in this offense.
  45. Garrett Wilson scored 20 Fantasy Points (20.1) for the first time this season due to the big Zach Wilson performance. Wilson caught nine of his 14 targets for a season-high 108 receiving yards. Wilson has earned 14 targets in three games this season.
  46. Breece Hall rushed the ball 10 times for 40 yards and caught a season-high eight passes for a season-high 86 receiving yards. 26.6 Fantasy Points in Week 14 was the fourth time this season Hall produced 20+ Fantasy Points. The heavy receiving work Hall has earned following the Week 7 BYE makes him a safer play, even if he is not rushing the ball for big numbers.
  47. AJ Brown caught nine of his 13 targets for 94 yards and scored 16.4 Fantasy Points. AJB has earned 26 targets across the last two weeks and has produced 90+ receiving yards eight times this year.
  48. Mitch Trubisky surprised many by scoring over 20 Fantasy Points in his first start of the year. Trubisky threw 22/35 for 190 yards, a touchdown, and an interception but was boosted by a rushing touchdown.
  49. Diontae Johnson has scored a touchdown from Trubisky in back-to-back games. Johnson caught three of his seven targets for 57 yards in Week 14.
  50. Najee Harris finished Week 14 with 15 touches for 48 scrimmage yards while Jaylen Warren finished with 11 touches for 40 scrimmage yards. Both running backs scored under nine Fantasy Points.
  51. Although Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the worst Fantasy scoring wide receiver in Seattle out of the trio of him, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, it is important to note he has led the wide receiver room in targets for two straight games. 18 targets across the last two weeks.
  52. Kenneth Walker III finished Week 14 with 12 touches for 54 scrimmage yards compared to rookie Zach Charbonnet’s 10 touches for 48 scrimmage yards. Both running backs were banged up coming into Week 14, but this split is worth monitoring.
  53. Deebo Samuel has been on a monster tear the last three games, scoring 22.4 then 35.8 then 34 Fantasy Points. Deebo caught seven of his nine targets for 149 receiving yards with both a receiving and rushing touchdown in Week 14. 116 then 149 receiving yards the last two weeks for Deebo, and sicne the Week 9 BYE he has totaled seven touchdowns in five games.
  54. Since the Week 9 BYE, Brock Purdy has finished as a top 10 Fantasy quarterback in four out of his five games now. Purdy threw 19/27 for a season-high 368 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Week 14. Purdy has thrown for over 300 yards in five games this season.
  55. George Kittle scored a touchdown and totaled 76 yards. Week 14 was the third time Kittle has scored in the last five weeks since the BYE.
  56. Brandon Aiyuk caught six of nine targets for 126 receiving yards and finished with 16.6 Fantasy Points. Week 14 was the fourth game of 120+ receiving yards.
  57. Christian McCaffrey rushed for 145 yards in Week 14, which was his second-highest total for the year. 16.3 Fantasy Points was the lowest score in seven weeks, which speaks to CMC’s season.
  58. Rachaad White has been one of the most consistent Fantasy Football running backs, scoring 15+ Fantasy Points in seven of his last eight games. White has averaged 3.5 receptions per game as one of the better pass-catching backs in the league but has also stepped up his ground game in the last three weeks. 100, 84, and 102 rushing yards in the last three weeks have been a huge eyebrow-raiser. White scored 21.5 Fantasy Points in Week 14, guided by those 102 rushing yards along with 33 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown on 27 touches.
  59. Big game for Baker Mayfield if you happened to stream him for Fantasy Football. Baker threw for 144 yards, two touchdowns and rushed for his first touchdown of the season. Week 14 was the fifth week for Baker scoring 19+ Fantasy Points (20.1).
