David Njoku looked good in Week 3. He finished the day as the TE2, catching nine of 10 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. Njoku has been a favorite target for Jacoby Brissett, and his 18.2% target share is sixth-most amongst tight ends. He’s a strong play this week, and is a top-10 tight end in my Week 4 rankings.
Jelani Woods also came up big last week. He finished as a top-five option, catching two-of-three passes for 13 yards and two touchdowns. However, don’t chase Woods’ Week 3 production. He only played 23% of snaps, and the Colts use a three-tight end committee that should be avoided altogether.
Dalton Schultz missed the Monday Night game with a sprained PCL. Be sure to monitor his status this week. If he plays, he gets a plus matchup at home against the division-rival Washington Commanders.
Week 4 Tight End Notes
- The good: Kyle Pitts caught five of eight targets for 87 yards, rebounding from his two underwhelming performances to start the season. The bad: His playing time sharply declined – he played 67% of snaps in Week 3, compared to 84% and 93% in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively. Pitts also only has one red-zone target this season. The talent is there, but until we start to see some consistency with his usage, Pitts will likely remain out of my top five.
- Zach Ertz is the TE3 in half-point PPR this season, and his 25 targets are second-most at the position. He should continue to be heavily targeted as long as DeAndre Hopkins and Rondale Moore remain out. Carolina has been a solid unit against tight ends, but Ertz’s volume makes him a weekly must-start.
- David Njoku’s targets have increased each week, and he finished Week 3 catching nine of 10 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. He’s second on the team in target share, and he gets a favorable matchup this week against the Atlanta Falcons, who have allowed the second-most points to tight ends this season. Njoku is my TE10 this week.
- Robert Tonyan makes for a sneaky Week 4 streamer. He gets a cushy matchup against the Patriots, who’ve allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends – including an 89-yard and two-touchdown day from Mark Andrews in Week 3. Green Bay’s offense is starting to turn the corner, and Tonyan is second on the team in targets. He should continue to get looks moving forward, especially with Sammy Watkins out.
- Tyler Conklin is the TE4 through three weeks. He’s seen at least seven targets each week and his 16.2% target share is second-most on the team. It’ll be worth monitoring to see if his usage changes once Zach Wilson returns, but right now he’s getting the volume you ideally want out of tight ends.
