South Point 400: NASCAR DFS Picks
One of my favorite things about the NASCAR playoffs happened last week at the Roval. When he took the lead, Christopher Bell was 30 points below the cut line and never looked back.
As the headline of the video states, Kyle Larson was eliminated, meaning NASCAR will have a new Cup Champion in 2022. It’s an exciting time to be a fan and an exciting time to play NASCAR DFS. Here’s a look at who we want as our lineup anchors and builders heading into the South Point 400.
Who is left?
In a typical playoff race, playoff drivers are highly sought after in DFS lineups. This is somewhat obvious as the drivers left are typically quite good while also having the extra motivation to pull out all the stops for a win. However, we are not currently in a typical playoff season. Only two playoff drivers have won playoff races so far.
Let’s pretend things might normalize here. Historically, only playoff drivers have ever won a playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With that in mind, here are the eight remaining playoff drivers, their driver ratings at Vegas, and their salaries on each site.
- Chase Elliott (105.4): $13,500 FD/$10,700 DK
- Joey Logano (106.2): $9,200 FD/$8,900 DK
- Ross Chastain (64.8): $11,500 FD/$9,900 DK
- Christopher Bell (73.1): $13,000 FD/$10,500 DK
- Ryan Blaney (98.5): $10,500 FD/$9,500 DK
- William Byron (96.6): $11,000 FD/$9,700 DK
- Denny Hamlin (107.2): $14,000 FD/$11,100 DK
- Chase Briscoe (60.0): $8,200 FD/$8,100 DK
The safest plays to build your lineups around are Hamlin and Logano. Both have had great recent success in Sin City, and Logano is reasonably priced, given this fact. Blaney is, apparently, determined to win this championship without actually winning a race, but he is always in contention at intermediate 1.5-mile tracks. I also feel like Briscoe is sitting quietly in a corner, eating an apple, and telling us to just keep ignoring him, and he could be an interesting lineup filler.
Following Saturday’s qualifiers and now that the lineup is set, I see some values on the board.

Denny Hamlin did us all a favor and qualified 31st, which puts him in a prime spot to gain positional points while having a legitimate chance to win the race. Truex has won in Vegas twice in the last two races, and Justin Haley has a bottom-barrel price for a guy with one top-20 finish in three races here.
