Gameweek 21 Start and Sit
Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Fantrax HQ team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation-threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those players.
Our format is as follows: We will be choosing 2 different teams. One will be our starts of the week, made up of non-obvious, low-rostered players. The other will be our sits of the week, made up of highly rostered, normally started players.
Now let’s see the Gameweek 21 Start and Sit contenders!

At Goalkeeper, we’re going with Lukas Fabianski. It’s a must win game for West Ham & Moyes and they host a struggling & goal-shy Everton. He has a decent shot at a cleansheet and a good haul.
Our backline consists of Luke Ayling, Kurt Zouma, Mohamed Salisu, & Serge Aurier. Ayling has dropped double digit ghost points in back to back weeks and has Brentford at home. Zouma should be back from injury and will battle DCL for aerials and, like Fabianski, could bag a cleanie. Salisu just keeps scoring well – and Villa at home isn’t the worst matchup. Finally, Aurier has been on fire and is up against a Bournemouth side that hasn’t seen the back of the net in 3 games.
In the engine room, we have Conor Gallagher, Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Adams, & Amadou Onana. Gallagher is coming off the back of a 16 point outing and faces a leaky Liverpool defense. Ramsey is fit again and will get his opportunities v Southampton. Adams has quietly become a ghost point warrior and should continue his MID4 form – if you need 7-10 points, he’s your man. Meanwhile, Onana is more of a punt. He dropped his best score of the season last gameweek and will get in dangerous positions at West Ham.
Up front, we’re backing Danny Ings & Wilfried Gnonto. The Ings pick is a bullish prediction that he will immediately start in his new team in East London. Lowly Everton should be nervous about that prospect. And the diminutive Gnonto bagged another goal mid-week in the FA Cup and goes into this gameweek with renewed confidence.

A trip to Fulham will cap off an interesting week for GK Hugo Lloris (he is facing Man City at the time of writing). He bagged the first own goal of his career in the North London Derby & has generally looked pretty shaky. Fulham away is not the place to look for a revival/clean sheet. Avoid.
In defense, we have some big names: Gabriel Magalhaes, Raphael Varane, Thiago Silva, & Timothy Castagne. Gabriel has a big game against Man United in which Arsenal will likely concede one goal, which would ruin his score. Varane is in that same matchup but will probably concede more than one to high-flying Arsenal. And he doesn’t have the ghost points to offset that. Thiago Silva had a decent game v Palace but has a much more difficult matchup at Anfield, where clean sheets are very hard to come by – even now. While Castagne has had a decent fantasy season, Leicester is in poor form and the swashbuckling Seagulls are in town.
Midfield minefields include Brendan Aaronson, Ruben Neves, Harvey Barnes, & Joe Willock. Aaronson, while lively, scores very poorly fantasy-wise. Case in point, he has averaged less than 2 points per start in his last 4 outings. Don’t just bench, drop. Neves needs to be on the ball but won’t see much of it against Man City. Barnes has been dreadful & faces a dominant Brighton side. And Willock has been Willocking – his highest score in the last 4 games was a measly 6 points.
Last and potentially least, those who should not be leading your line this gameweek are: Jordan Ayew & Matheus Cunha. Ayew has struggled for points and for starts of late. If he does get the nod against the best defense in the league, Newcastle, don’t do it. Finally, Cunha has largely underwhelmed at Wolves since his arrival and posted a goose egg last time out in a great matchup against West Ham at home. So Man City is certainly not the fixture for him. And that’s your lot!
