Congratulations on making it to week 22 of fantasy basketball. These are deep waters where not many have been so go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. Unless you’re in a league where everyone plays in week 22. Regardless, you might be looking for a second opinion on what players to add off the waiver wire. Well, you’ve clicked on the right link because this page right here will give you a few names to consider for your fantasy team. Just scroll down a little bit.
Week 22 Fantasy Basketball Deep Waiver Wire Adds
Trendon Watford, PF/C – Portland Trail Blazers (21% rostered)
Stat highlight: Ranks 5th in the league in steals over the last 10 days
With Jeramy Grant not looking ready to return from a quadriceps injury, Trendon Watford is worth a look in most leagues. In the last 3 games, all of which Grant has missed, Watford averaged 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2.3 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. That ranks him in the top 60 of 9-cat per-game rankings of the timespan. The Blazers are playing three games this week so it’s not a perfect situation with Watford but Watford should be considered just for the steals at the very least. Grant’s eventual return from injury will, obviously, plummet Watford’s value.
Josh Green, SG/SF – Dallas Mavericks (17% rostered)
Stat highlight: Averages 23.5 points in games both Doncic and Irving are out
Luke Doncic and Kyrie Irving are both listed as questionable for Monday’s game against Memphis. If they both were to miss it, Josh Green should take a big role in the Mavs offense. In the 3 games, both were out in last week, Green scored 21, 23, and 21 points with 3 threes and 6 assists. With both Doncic and Irving likely to play some of the 4-game gameweek for the Mavs, I would lock Green in for a weekly roster spot but he is someone to keep an eye on for streaming purposes should both superstars miss more games.
Rodney McGruder, SG – Detroit Pistons (16% rostered)
Stat highlight: 36th in 9-cat fantasy over the last 5 games
Did you know that Rodney McGruder ranks as the 36th best player in 9-cat fantasy over the last 5 games? Unless you read the line above, I bet you didn’t. Sounds like a no-brainer waiver wire pick-up but the Pistons only play twice in week 22. So leagues with a weekly roster lock should probably look elsewhere. With daily roster changes, I’d add him in a heartbeat. The Pistons will also play a total of 8 games in weeks 23 and 24, which ties for a league-high but may not be applicable for most fantasy leagues.
Jonathan Kuminga, SF/PF – Golden State Warriors (26% rostered)
Stat highlight: Scored season-high 24 points against the Grizzlies on Saturday
Wanna ride the hot hand? Why not?! The Warriors have a nice 4-game gameweek and Kuminga is coming off his best game of the season having scored 24 points with 4 threes, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal against the Memphis Grizzlies. The next two Warriors opponents (Rockets and Mavericks) play no defense whatsoever so if Kuminga were to have another big game, those would be the teams he would do it against.
