Week 25 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire
Morgan Frost, C, Philadelphia Flyers (28% Rostered)
Frost has had hot and cold stretches this season. He’s currently in another hot stretch. Over the past five games, he has three goals, four assists, four hits, six blocks, 14 shots, and a plus-5 rating. He’s up to 16 goals and 38 points through 72 matchups this year. All career highs for the 23-year-old center. He’s averaging 16:04 of ice time, with 2:12 on the man advantage. The Flyers are without leading scorer Travis Konecny, so they will continue to rely on their younger talents like Frost to fill the void.
Kyle Palmieri, RW, New York Islanders (21% Rostered)
The Islanders generally have a tough time putting the puck in the net, but that hasn’t been the case for Palmieri lately. Over the past seven games he’s scored five goals and five assists. Nearly a third of his points have been scored over that span, as he has 15 goals and 16 assists across 49 outings this season. Palmieri and his Islanders are playing desperate hockey while they seek to keep their playoff spot. Palmieri will be a go-to player for the club, especially with Mathew Barzal sidelined.
Sammy Blais, LW/RW, St. Louis Blues (21% Rostered)
Blais had been a St. Louis Blue his entire career until last season. His time with the New York Rangers was riddled with injuries, and when he was healthy it wasn’t the right fit. In being traded back to the Blues, it revitalized him. He’s playing the best hockey of his career. For comparison, Blais had five points in 40 games with the Rangers this season. With the Blues, he has 17 points in 23 games. He’s averaging 14:28 of ice time, with 1:41 on the power play. These are both the highest averages of his career. The Blues are dealing with injuries and have traded key forwards out, so expect Blais to continue playing an important role for St. Louis.
Marcus Johansson, LW, Minnesota Wild (19% Rostered)
Johansson was having a regular year by his standards, posting 28 points in 60 games for the Washington Capitals. He was traded to the Wild, a team he’s played for before. This time, he’s much more productive. Through 14 games he has 12 points, 27 shots, three power-play points, and a plus-9 rating. He’s playing in the top six, and has helped Minnesota climb up the standings despite missing their best player in Kirill Kaprizov. Johansson is on the top power-play unit, and is worth a waiver wire add for as long as he’s utilized in a scoring role.

The schedule has huge implications at this time of year. Having players who play on the quieter nights (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) is a notable advantage for getting extra man-games in. This is how the rest of the current scoring period shakes out:
