MLB Injury Report for April 7
Michael Harris III – OF Atlanta Braves
Brian Snitker said Michael Harris Ii banged his back against the outfield wall on a catch. He’s day to day.
— Jeff Schultz (@JeffSchultzATL) April 7, 2023
The good news is that Harris looks to be okay and only shaken, not stirred. He should be back in the lineup very quickly.
Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves
Brian Snitker said both Max Fried and Raisel Iglesias are feeling good. Fried is throwing, but Iglesias has yet to do so. That's his next step.
Fried hasn't tested the hamstring running yet, but could soon. Once he does so, #Braves will have a clearer timeline for his return.
— Grant McAuley (@grantmcauley) April 6, 2023
It’s discouraging that Fried has yet to start running, but once he does, the team will know exactly what they need to do next. Until then, all speculation is that he won’t be ready to return from the Injured List when eligible.
Raisel Iglesias – RP Atlanta Braves
Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) hasn't resumed throwing yet.
He's already been shutdown for two weeks. Still no timetable for his return. pic.twitter.com/xjmO9B92Qf
— Mike Daddino (@mike_daddino) April 6, 2023
Iglesias has been shut down for quite a while, and all hope the team had of him returning in the middle of April seems to have dissolved. As of now, a May debut seems more likely.
Kyle Wright – SP Atlanta Braves

— Minor League Baseball (@MiLB) April 6, 2023
Great news that he was able to stretch himself out to six innings and 84 pitches. It’s somewhat concerning about his reduced velocity, but overall a positive outing. He could return over the next few days if the team deems him to be ready.
Garrett Whitlock – SP Boston Red Sox
Garrett Whitlock's final line: 6.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 SO
— Portland Sea Dogs (@PortlandSeaDogs) April 7, 2023
He looks primed and ready for his rumored debut this Tuesday.
Brayan Bello – SP Boston Red Sox
Brayan Bello will have at least one more rehab start, likely in Worcester
— Christopher Smith (@SmittyOnMLB) April 6, 2023
Upon this, he should be ready to debut shortly after.
Yoan Moncada – 3B Chicago White Sox
Moncada fouled pitch off foot yesterday but today is simply a rest day, Grifol said. He also discusses TA ejection here. pic.twitter.com/yUdhVYIdQ8
— Daryl Van Schouwen (@CST_soxvan) April 6, 2023
Despite his absence, it seemed that this was more of a planned day off than anything else. Moncada will look to keep his quick start going once he returns.
Eloy Jimenez – OF Chicago White Sox
Eloy Jiménez said he played catch and ran today. He added that if he were available, he would be ready to pinch hit. He is not available, but Pedro Grifol said they’ll be reviewing his day to day once his minimum 10 days on the IL are up.
— James Fegan (@JRFegan) April 6, 2023
Interesting here that he believes he’d be ready. That said, the team needs to step up and take over any and all progress here and not let him rush back early.
Brusdar Graterol – RP Los Angeles Dodgers
#Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Brusdar Graterol’s back tightened up in the middle of the game and wasn’t available. That’s why he turned to Phil Bickford in that eighth inning.
— Juan Toribio (@juanctoribio) April 7, 2023
Graterol has been hurt before, and it’s starting to look like that’s just part of who he is. Consider him DTD until told otherwise.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 2B/OF Miami Marlins
Describing his injury, Chisholm Jr. said that it was like nothing he’s ever felt before. While the injury looked and sounded scary, he himself has said that he felt he could have gotten back into the game. With yesterday’s game postponed, there’s a chance he misses no extra time if he plays today. Conservatively speaking, they would be wise to keep him out a little longer just to be safe with their best player.
Jorge Polanco – 2B Minnesota Twins
🚨 REHAB ALERT 🚨@Twins All-Star Jorge Polanco will be in the lineup for us at Hammond Stadium tonight!
He is scheduled to bat 2nd and play 2B at 7pm against the @DunedinBlueJays!

Great news that he seems ready. The Twins have been saying that he hasn’t had typical Spring Training, so a lengthy rehab is the likeliest of outcomes here.
Omar Narvaez – C New York Mets
Omar Narváez underwent imaging this morning that revealed a medium to high-grade strain of his left calf. He will be placed on the Injured List. A typical return to play for this type of injury is 8-9 weeks.
— New York Mets (@Mets) April 6, 2023
It’s officially time for Francisco Alvarez to do his thing.
Mitch Haniger – OF San Francisco Giants
#SFGiants don't expect Mitch Haniger (oblique) or Austin Slater (hamstring) back by the end of the upcoming home stand. SFG has caught a break so far, facing only righties, but they're lined up to face 3 lefties on opening home stand: KC's Bubic, LA's Urías and Kershaw.
— Evan Webeck (@EvanWebeck) April 6, 2023
Haniger was diagnosed with a Grade 1 oblique strain, and the thought was that he’d be back sooner rather than later. This report indicates that the middle of April is the earliest he will return, and there’s no guarantee of that.
Brandon Crawford – SS San Francisco Giants
Brandon Crawford had a little forearm tightness. Expected to play in tomorrow’s home opener.
— Susan Slusser (@susanslusser) April 6, 2023
It’s Crawford’s non-throwing arm, so the concern is not as high. Regardless, stay tuned for updates.
Leody Taveras – OF Texas Rangers
Leody Taveras is beginning his rehab assignment tongith with Double-A Frisco
— Evan Grant (@Evan_P_Grant) April 6, 2023
With rehab starting today, there’s a chance that he’s reinstated within a week. He should be a fixture in the team’s lineup when healthy.
