MLB Injury Report for April 14

Orlando Arcia – SS Atlanta Braves

There is some speculation that Vaughn Grissom will take over at shortstop for the Braves. He was left off of Gwinnett’s Triple-A lineup last night, and people within the industry believe it’s due to this. He will be a must-add if this is the case. As for Arcia, the microfracture will need time to heal, and surgery is not necessary. There is no timetable for him to return.

Anthony Santander – OF Baltimore Orioles

The fact that he was available off the bench is encouraging and shows he’s likely back as soon as possible.

Seiya Suzuki – OF Chicago Cubs

Suzuki has missed the entire season thus far but has looked good in his rehab assignment. A return this weekend is great news to fantasy owners everywhere. Stay tuned for the official word.

Jesse Winker – OF Milwaukee Brewers

The illness continues, but he is at least back with the team. The hope is that he’ll play at some point this week.

Kenta Maeda – SP Minnesota Twins

Maeda has had a quick exit, a disastrous start, and now this. Definitely not the way he or the team envisioned it going. Arm fatigue has been the culprit as Maeda works back from Tommy John surgery. More updates should be made available, but it would seem that the team is about as worried as fantasy managers should be.

Max Kepler – OF Minnesota Twins

Great news. Be prepared.

Kyle Farmer – SS Minnesota Twins

Here’s hoping that he’s able to make a speedy recovery.

DJ LeMahieu – INF New York Yankees

He did not play, but he was ultimately ready to do so. Given that, he should return shortly.

Joe Musgrove – SP San Diego Padres

Straight from the source himself, Musgrove feels good, despite the setback. The plan is for him to throw a bullpen today and then, if all goes well, pitch a rehab outing. This delays his return but makes certain that he’s ready for the long haul.

Paul DeJong – SS St. Louis Cardinals

DeJong worked hard in the offseason on retooling his swing and his mechanics. The team wants to ensure that all of that effort doesn’t go to waste. In the meantime, Tommy Edman and Brendan Donovan get reps at shortstop. Seeing how everyone works themselves into the lineup once he returns will be interesting.

Adam Wainwright – SP St. Louis Cardinals

Wainwright has been slowly returning from the injury that he sustained at the WBC, and this could be one of the final stages. He and the team would like to have him back by the end of April.

Lars Nootbar – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Nootbar could be back this weekend. Be prepared.

Jeffrey Springs – SP Tampa Bay Rays

Springs left his start yesterday with tingling in his forearm, around where the funny bone is. He has been diagnosed with ulnar neuritis, which is something that I was admittedly unfamiliar with. Essentially it is when the ligaments providing stability to the elbow have been compromised. There will be tests and imaging done to see the severity of the situation, which ranges from inflammation and fluid to a more substantial injury. What it boils down to is that he will likely miss time on the Injury List, but it’s not necessarily season-ending. More updates will be brought forth today. Stay tuned.

Matt Chapman – 3B Toronto Blue Jays

Chapman missed time due to an illness, but he’s hopeful of returning.
