Fantasy Baseball Prospects Injury Report

Colson Montgomery – 3B Chicago White Sox

Montgomery has been out of action all season and is rumored to be returning to the team at the beginning of May. He is baseball’s 33rd-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand – 3B Cincinnati Reds, Elly De La Cruz – SS Cincinnati Reds

Great news on both accounts. Encarnacion-Strand was initially targeting an April 24 date for a debut, but that has seemingly been postponed. The team will take things slowly and give him an extended spring before even considering a specific date. He is the team’s 6th-ranked prospect, according to MLB. As for De La Cruz, he was originally supposed to have debuted about a week ago, but, like Encarnacion-Strand, will be delayed. He, as well, will be given an extended spring. He is baseball’s 8th ranked prospect, according to MLB.

George Valera – OF Cleveland Guardians

Valera hurt his wrist during spring training and never really got his footing. He has since been ramping himself up to get into game shape, but has yet to make his 2023 debut. He is baseball’s 45th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Cody Morris – P Cleveland Guardians

Morris has had injury problems for the majority of his time in the majors. He is expected to be brought back slowly to ensure that his body can take the rigors of being a starter. Still, he has only 23.2 career innings over his career with the team. He is the team’s 16th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Jackson Jobe – P Detroit Tigers

Jobe had difficulty with his back late last year, and those pains have returned. It’s a shame that this year looks to be in jeopardy as he had a promising start to his professional career before this injury. He is baseball’s 57th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Sixto Sanchez – P Miami Marlins

Sanchez has worked hard this offseason to transform his body and get himself right. Thus far, he has ramped up toward bullpen sessions and live batting practices of fifteen pitches. Sanchez has 39 career innings under his belt, and those came in the 2020 season. He is the team’s 11th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Matt Canterino – P Minnesota Twins

The promising right-handed pitcher will miss most of the season. The team would love to see him get in some action late to see what they have and where they need to go. He is the team’s 13th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Connor Prielipp – P Minnesota Twins

Prielipp had been working his way back from Tommy John surgery back in 2021. With that and Covid, he has thrown just 28 innings of work since high school. Still, the highly regarded pitcher is trying to make a name for himself. He is the team’s 5th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Andrew Painter – P Philadelphia Phillies

The belief is that he can and will need to increase this throwing in order to comfortably pitch. There’s no timetable in place here, as he is their prized possession. The team would love for him to pitch for them later this season, but long-term health is the key. He is baseball’s 4th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Robert Hassell – OF Washington Nationals

The above was posted a few days ago. Since then, he has gone 1-8 with one strikeout, though the sample size is extremely small. He looks to be healed from his wrist injury and can focus on moving up within the organizational rankings. He is baseball’s 31st-ranked prospect, according to MLB.
