Michael Harris – OF Atlanta Braves
No worries with Harris, who will get at least a day off but no IL time
— 🪴paige🪴 (@paige_leckie) May 4, 2023
There was some worry and concern about Harris after jamming his right knee at first base. He exited the game as a precaution, but this report gives comfort to the fact that it probably won’t be an extended absence. That said, anything can change the day after, so stay tuned.
Kyle Wright – SP Atlanta Braves
Wright will go on the IL. Braves will call up Dodd to start tomorrow.
— 🪴paige🪴 (@paige_leckie) May 4, 2023
Wright exited Wednesday’s game after only two innings, where he surrendered three runs on six hits. Wright himself said that the shoulder didn’t feel right, but the team themselves were the ones that took him out and protected his health. This is Wright’s second time on the Injured List this season with right shoulder soreness.
Kenley Jansen – RP Boston Red Sox, Adalberto Mondesi – SS Boston Red Sox
Cora said Jansen is throwing a bullpen today and should be available tomorrow. Also Mondesi is coming to Boston for a check up in a few days but has but doing the same hitting and fielding routine, no games yet
— Jen McCaffrey (@jcmccaffrey) May 3, 2023
It’s looking like Jansen will be returning in short order, as predicted, by today. Be sure to get him into those lineups if you can. As for Mondesi, he has yet to play any games, so some clarity on his situation would be helpful.
Garrett Whitlock – SP Boston Red Sox
Garrett Whitlock has been cleared to throw. No red flags as @jcmccaffrey reported. May not be on the IL longer than the 15 days required for him.
— Chris Cotillo (@ChrisCotillo) May 3, 2023
This is an incredible development, as Whitlock went from an ominous second opinion to a fast-track return. He is eligible to return on May 9, and that, or around that, seems like a likely date to be back.
Jameson Taillon – SP Chicago Cubs
Jameson Taillon will come off the IL and start tomorrow vs. Nationals, Ross says.
— Meghan Montemurro (@M_Montemurro) May 4, 2023
Be prepared.
Jake Burger – 3B Chicago White Sox
Jake Burger left tonight's game with left side discomfort. He is being further evaluated
— Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) May 4, 2023
Burger said that the injury was a freakish thing, stating that it hadn’t crept up on him or lingered around. He also said that he’ll be re-evaluated today, so we’ll know more news when he does. Stay tuned.
Jose Altuve – 2B Houston Astros
Jose Altuve said he’s been cleared to field ground balls and test his grip on a bat, but it does not sound like he’s been cleared to swing. He said the next two weeks of his rehab are “really important.” Still no timetable for when he may return.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) May 3, 2023
It’s great news that he is cleared for his defensive work and to attempt to hold and grip a bat. The final real hurdle to clear is the actual swinging of a bat, which will come eventually. Once that clears itself out, a better timeline for a return will be revealed.
Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels
Zach Neto was removed from tonight's game with a right finger contusion. He is day-to-day.
— Angels PR (@LAAngelsPR) May 4, 2023
Neto will be DTD unless otherwise noted, as he seems to have avoided a serious injury here.
Trayce Thompson – OF Los Angeles Dodgers
#Dodgers Trayce Thompson has been ill past two days. Wasn’t even at the stadium today
— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) May 3, 2023
Here’s hoping that Thompson can get well soon. He’s DTD.
Johnny Cueto – SP Miami Marlins
Marlins SP Johnny Cueto will start for Jacksonville Saturday and is scheduled to throw 5 innings.
— Craig Mish (@CraigMish) May 2, 2023
Great news that Cueto is able to get a rehab assignment in. He was reportedly up to 60 innings pitched in an extended Spring Training start last week. No word on the extent of this rehab.
Adrian Houser – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Brewers probables for the San Francisco series:
Friday: Burnes
Saturday: Rea
Sunday: TBDAdrian Houser is the leading candidate for Sunday if he's not needed earlier.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) May 3, 2023
Be prepared.
Carlos Carrasco – SP New York Mets
Carlos Carrasco will make a rehab start Friday or Saturday. The Mets' plan is for him to rejoin the rotation next week.
He isn't a candidate to start Sunday. The Mets will need someone for that spot.
— Tim Healey (@timbhealey) May 3, 2023
Carrasco has not looked right all year, but he’ll have a chance to make things better after this rehab assignment. The team is cautiously approaching his return.
Harrison Bader – OF New York Yankees
Aaron Boone said that he thinks Harrison Bader will be OK, he’s in good spirits, but the Yanks will put him through tests
— Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) May 4, 2023
Bader had just made his season debut and will miss some time if these tests prove there’s a significant injury. Stay tuned.
Ranger Suarez – SP Philadelphia Phillies
Ranger Suarez will make another rehab start Sunday with Triple A Lehigh Valley and will increase to 70-75 pitches.
Nothing set in stone but he might not need another one after that if he comes out of it OK.
— Corey Seidman (@CSeidmanNBCS) May 3, 2023
Suarez continues to accelerate his return, and one last good outing this Sunday could be all that he needs to show that he’s ready. That said, the team was slowly cautious with him at the beginning and may retread that momentum near the end too.
Pete Fairbanks – RP Tampa Bay Rays
#Rays Fairbanks said the forearm inflammation is “unrelated” to the Raynaud’s issue, that it was bothering him on and off for a while, is more toward the wrist than elbow, and he fully expects to be back after minimum IL stint
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) May 3, 2023
This report is somewhat reassuring that things are going to be okay. While none of it is what anyone wants to hear, it’s comforting in that the issue should be dealt with within the fifteen-day timeline. It’s also believed that Fairbanks will be able to throw a bullpen and enter a rehab appearance within the next two weeks. For now, consider this a moderate injury.
