Lourdes Gurriel – OF Arizona Diamondbacks
Lourdes Gurriel is dealing with groin tightness, per Torey. He stayed back for a day with doctors in Phoenix but joined the team yesterday in DC and is available off the bench tonight.
— Theo Mackie (@theo_mackie) June 6, 2023
Gurriel was not used off of the bench, but the hope is that he’ll return shortly.
Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves
Max Fried and Dylan Lee are still just playing catch. Snit said he hasn’t been told when either will begin throwing off the mound.
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) June 6, 2023
Fried, who was recently placed on the 60-day IL, is basically starting from scratch. He will need to ramp himself back up, and is at the beginning stages of that journey.
Gunnar Henderson – INF Baltimore Orioles
Gunnar Henderson expects to be in lineup tomorrow. Said back feels pretty good #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) June 6, 2023
Gunnar has said that he’s felt better as of late, and was originally injured because of tightening up due to the cooler weather. He was less than 100% but says that he feels better and is likely ready to go today.
Cody Bellinger – OF Chicago Cubs
The plan is for Cody Bellinger go on a rehab assignment once his knee is good to go, Hoyer said.
Given the layoff since he sustained the injury in Houston, he will need at-bats. Hoyer said it hasn’t been decided yet whether Bellinger will go to AZ or join an affiliate.
— Meghan Montemurro (@M_Montemurro) June 7, 2023
Makes sense, given the time away from the team. The biggest question isn’t where he’ll go, but when. Bellinger has been out since mid-May and has just recently started a running program.
Nick Senzel – OF Cincinnati Reds
Nick Senzel to the IL with a right knee injury.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) June 6, 2023
This was the transaction that allowed top prospect Elly Del La Cruz to get his promotion. There’s been no word on if this will be a minimum stay or an extended stay on the Injured List. Stay tuned.
C.J. Cron – 1B Colorado Rockies
#Rockies Bud Black says 1B CJ Cron is still at least a week away from baseball activities. Sore back.
— Patrick Saunders (@psaundersdp) June 6, 2023
Cron has been out of action for weeks and has yet to resume baseball activities. He will likely need a lengthy rehab assignment before he returns to the Rockies.
Kris Bryant – OF Colorado Rockies
#Rockies Kris Bryant is improving after hitting the IL last week with a heel bruise.
Manager Bud Black said he’ll play catch today, might hit during BP, but won’t be doing any running.
— Patrick Lyons (@PatrickDLyons) June 6, 2023
There’s no word on how he felt afterward, but it’s good that he’s playing catch. There was also no word on if he hit during BP. All that being said, he has some work to do before returning.
Detroit Tigers – Team Update
#Tigers medical update: A lot of new information. pic.twitter.com/oLCNoEta5D
— Evan Petzold (@EvanPetzold) June 6, 2023
So much news here. Faedo met with a finger specialist who recommended and performed the operation. His timetable is unclear given how the injury itself depends on individual healing. Greene is getting daily treatment, which is a positive sign. There’s no indication of when he will return. As for Rodriguez, it’s good news that he is now playing catch. It’s unclear if his diagnosis has changed, given that he met a specialist yesterday. The timetable has apparently been maintained as a ten-week window before he returns. He said that the finger was so swollen that he couldn’t bend it. All of that leads one to believe that he won’t be back for a while despite yesterday’s advancements. Skubal will continue to rehab for the next little while until he is ramped up and confident in returning.
Julio Urias – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

— David Vassegh (@THEREAL_DV) June 6, 2023
Urias has quickly progressed to this point as the last little while has seen him do a lot. His return could come as soon as this weekend, but that’s if he avoids a minor-league rehab assignment. Stay tuned.
Jazz Chisholm – 2B/OF Miami Marlins
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is currently playing catch with INF coach Jody Reed on the field. I believe this is the first time he's doing baseball activities since being placed on the 10-Day IL.
— Daniel Álvarez-Montes (@DanielAlvarezEE) June 6, 2023
Chisholm has an appointment with a foot specialist today, so we should know more about his status after that.
Royce Lewis – 3B/SS Minnesota Twins

— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) June 6, 2023
While Lewis didn’t play in yesterday’s game, he at least took in some BP. He’s DTD and should be back soon.
Byron Buxton – OF/UT Minnesota Twins
Byron Buxton is going to the 10-day IL with the rib contusion to make room for Trevor Larnach, who is active today.
— Do-Hyoung Park (@dohyoungpark) June 6, 2023
The move is retroactive to Saturday. Buxton was hit by a pitch in the ribs and will need some time to get better. It’s unfortunate too because the Twins’ plan to keep him healthy while not playing in the field was actually working. This is nothing more than a freak accident.
Chris Paddack – SP Minnesota Twins
Chris Paddack started throwing off a mound last week and threw a bullpen session here today. He’s looking at a 3-month progression back to the big league mound and is still very hopeful to return in early or mid-September in either the bullpen or rotation depending on needs.
— Do-Hyoung Park (@dohyoungpark) June 6, 2023
Paddack has been throwing off a mound and tossed his first BP session yesterday. He still has a ways to go and is likely returning in mid-September. He’s not an option in fantasy until at least the beginning of the 2024 season.
Aaron Judge – OF New York Yankees
No break or fracture of Judge's big right toe – sprain and swelling. News could've been worse, but he's going on the IL. No timetable for his return.
— Bob Klapisch (@BobKlap) June 7, 2023
Apparently, the biggest hurdle right now is to get rid of any swelling on his toe. Manager Aaron Boone did say that this would take a few days (though he did mess up and say weeks, however, I think it was a miscue) and go from there. The good news is that there is no break or fracture, so it’s manageable on a much shorter timetable. For now, the biggest thing is to get rid of the aforementioned swelling.
Nestor Cortes – SP New York Yankees
Nestor Cortes, dealing with shoulder inflammation, says he is shut down from throwing for 15 days.
— Pete Caldera (@pcaldera) June 7, 2023
Cortes won’t throw for just under two full weeks and then get re-evaluated. He has already received a cortisone shot too. From there, he’ll need to throw bullpens and participate in a rehab assignment. If things work out, he should be back by the All-Star Break or just afterward.
Harrison Bader – OF New York Yankees
Harrison Bader can come off the IL Friday, but he said that might be a bit of a stretch. He and the #Yankees will evaluate at the 10-day mark. He's been building up with baseball activities and hasn't been bothered by the hamstring.
— Gary Phillips (@GaryHPhillips) June 6, 2023
Be prepared.
Carlos Rodon – SP New York Yankees
Carlos Rodon will face hitters on Wednesday, per Boone.
— Greg Joyce (@GJoyce9) June 4, 2023
This is a big day for Rodon, as he will face live hitters for the first time. If he clears this, he will likely advance to a rehab assignment in the near future. If all goes well, a return around the All-Star Break seems likely.
Alec Bohm – 1B/3B Philadelphia Phillies
Potentially great news for the Phillies and fantasy owners everywhere.
Xander Bogaerts – SS San Diego Padres
Padres manager Bob Melvin provides an update on Xander Bogaerts: pic.twitter.com/RNEOMNQql9
— 97.3 The Fan (@973TheFanSD) June 6, 2023
Bogaerts has taken groundballs and hit in the batting cage. He will continue to simulate in-game experiences. This means that he needs to advance to hitting the ball from high velocity and with movement.
Seth Lugo – SP San Diego Padres
So Seth Lugo (calf) was thumbs up after yesterday’s running drills. He threw a 50-pitch, up-and-down bullpen on Friday. He’ll throw another session tomorrow before facing live hitters.
He hopes to avoid a minor league rehab assignment.
TBD how persuasive he’ll need to be.
— Jeff Sanders (@sdutSanders) June 4, 2023
Lugo may actually be able to return without a rehab, given that he threw 50 pitches in his latest bullpen and will likely ramp that up too. Still, it seems like it would be wise for him to throw at least one rehab appearance.
Jacob deGrom – SP Texas Rangers
To clarify: Full extent of surgery will be determined once Dr Keith Meister gets inside of elbow. For now: Ligament repair. That doesn’t rule out something like an internal brace. Either way: Out at least 12 months https://t.co/Or6mRXmbOZ
— Evan Grant (@Evan_P_Grant) June 6, 2023
As the team stated, there was significant regression in the amount of damage done to deGrom’s elbow. He went from mere inflammation to structural damage. It’s unclear if he will have the traditional Tommy John Surgery or if he will go with the newer internal brace which could minimize the time away. Either way, both surgeries will take away the rest of his 2023 season and most of his 2024 season. This is a major disappointment for fantasy owners everywhere. Even more so, the Rangers and deGrom himself, who was in tears while discussing his injury.
