Adam Duvall – OF Boston Red Sox
Good chance that Adam Duvall will be activated Friday, Cora said smiling. So basically yes, he will be activated
— Christopher Smith (@SmittyOnMLB) June 8, 2023
Be prepared.
Cody Bellinger – OF Chicago Cubs, Brad Boxberger – RP Chicago Cubs
Ross: Both Cody Bellinger and Brad Boxberger are heading to Arizona to continue rehab before Minor League rehab assignments. Can better control environment (live BP sessions, for example).
— Jordan Bastian (@MLBastian) June 8, 2023
For Bellinger, he can take place in batting practice alongside other offensive-related activities, while Boxberger can throw another BP session. It’s been determined that both will go on rehab assignments when their time here is done.
Eloy Jimenez – OF Chicago White Sox
Eloy Jiménez moved slowly after grounding a ball to short that seemed a surefire double play. Gleyber Torres threw the ball away, so no twin killing, but Eloy was grimacing a bunch after making it to first, then second. He departs for a pinch-runner.
— Vinnie Duber (@VinnieDuber) June 9, 2023
Yet again, Jimenez hurts himself in a game and cannot stay healthy. This time it was after hitting a ground ball and he ran gingerly to first. His power and talent are undeniable, but so is his inability to remain healthy. Consider him DTD for now until we have more details.
Graham Ashcraft – SP Cincinnati Reds
Graham Ashcraft said the comebacker hit his calf and his knee locked up, but he expects to be fine in 2-3 days. He said something similar happened earlier in the year and he was fine.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) June 8, 2023
Ashcraft looks like he’ll be ready to make his next start, even if it’s pushed back a day. The bad news for fantasy owners everywhere could be that he’s able to make his next start. He has struggled mightily since his initial surge to begin the season.
C.J. Cron – 1B Colorado Rockies
#Rockies C.J. Cron told me today that he still has pain in his lower back. There is no timetable for his return.
— Patrick Saunders (@psaundersdp) June 8, 2023
Cron last played a game on May 14, and it’s nearing a month of inactivity. With no timetable for a return, it might be time for Cron to consider alternate options for healing, which can include surgery. While that might be getting ahead of the situation, it’s starting to become ominous.
Yordan Alvarez – OF Houston Astros
Astros manager Dusty Baker with a rather ominous quote about Alvarez injury: "We’ve just got to to regroup and try figure out how we’re going to win some ballgames and get through this."
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) June 9, 2023
The implication is that Alvarez will be out of the lineup for some amount of time. Whether that means this weekend, ten days, or more, the Astros will be without their best offensive weapon. He allegedly tweaked it during BP before the game on the last pitch that he saw. During the game, he re-aggravated the oblique and was forced to leave the game. Stay tuned as there is more to the story.
Michael Brantley – OF Houston Astros
LF Michael Brantley hit in the cage today, did some throwing and ran some sprints on the bases.
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) June 8, 2023
Brantley is once again starting from scratch as he works himself into the Astros’ lineup. He has a long way to go before playing in a game, but he’s at least completing the preliminary steps.
Lance McCullers Jr. – SP Houston Astros
Dana Brown says Lance McCullers, Jr was feeling discomfort and will get a MRI tomorrow. Astros hope to have some clarity by early next week.
— Julia Morales (@JuliaMorales) June 8, 2023
Uh oh, this isn’t great news. McCullers had worked his way up to throwing from a mound but has since gradually been getting worse. Now, with a setback like this, his original timeline of the All-Star Break seems like it’s no longer in play.
Hunter Renfroe – OF Los Angeles Angels
Hunter Renfroe’s wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday, Nevin said. Renfroe is expected to return on Saturday.
— Rhett Bollinger (@RhettBollinger) June 8, 2023
Be prepared.
Dustin May – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
It’s probably safe to say that May won’t return by the end of the 60-day window of July 17. He has yet to pick up a baseball and has a lot of work to do once he does. Consider his return at all this season tenuous.
Noah Syndergaard – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Now official: Noah Syndergaard is on the injured list
Officially it’s because of a blister. But really, it’s also to get him a mental and physical reset amid his recent struggles
From last night, more on the context behind this move:https://t.co/oUgyRF9uf3
— Jack Harris (@Jack_A_Harris) June 8, 2023
Additionally, the team flew Syndergaard out to Los Angeles to take care of things mentally and essentially start his season over again from scratch.
Jorge Polanco – 2B Minnesota Twins
Rocco's preliminary update on Jorge Polanco is that he'll initially remain day to day.
"He's still, I think, pretty strong in the muscle, but he definitely felt something. We're going to have to pay attention to it."
— Do-Hyoung Park (@dohyoungpark) June 8, 2023
While that does seem optimistic, this is an injury that just won’t go away. One has to wonder if the Twins will put Polanco in as their DH now that Buxton is out in an effort to limit his movement. Consider him DTD for now with the possibility of him returning to the Injured List.
Pete Alonso – 1B New York Mets
Pete Alonso update: He had a CT scan in Atlanta this morning and then flew back to New York for an MRI and further tests, Buck Showalter said. No results yet.
— Tim Healey (@timbhealey) June 8, 2023
And so the waiting game with Alonso begins. Until we know the results of these tests, we won’t know if this is a pain tolerance, a week-by-week thing, or something more. Stay tuned.
Nestor Cortes – SP New York Yankees
Prior to Game 1 of today’s doubleheader, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
•Placed LHP Nestor Cortes on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 6/5) with a left rotator cuff strain.
•Recalled LHP Matt Krook (#92) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.— Yankees PR Dept. (@YankeesPR) June 8, 2023
As planned. Cortes will be shut down from throwing for around two weeks. Once that period is over, he will be re-evaluated. It’s then that his return date can be speculated upon. Until then, he’s just resting.
Mason Miller – SP Oakland Athletics
A’s injuries:
– Mason Miller has begun a throwing program
– Kirby Snead threw 22 pitches in a AZL game. He’s on a Spring Training-like build up
– Zach Jackson could begin throwing program next week
– Freddy Tarnok threw a bullpen yesterday but Kotsay did not have a report yet
— Martín Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) June 7, 2023
This is good news,m as Miller is once again throwing a baseball. There is no word on where is progress-wise, but it’s likely at the beginning stages as he ramps himself up toward throwing from long distances. The team would be wise to take their time with his return as he is a part of their long-term plans.
Alec Bohm – INF Philadelphia Phillies, Jose Alvarado – RP Philadelphia Phillies
Saturday is definitely in place for Alec Bohm’s return. He had a strenuous workout on the field this afternoon. José Alvarado will be active tomorrow.
— Matt Gelb (@MattGelb) June 8, 2023
Be prepared for both.
Patrick Bailey – C San Francisco Giants
Patrick Bailey is dealing with some neck tightness, which is why he’s not in the lineup today. He’s considered day to day and could be available off the bench again https://t.co/P9h3oLNAbp
— Maria I. Guardado (@mi_guardado) June 8, 2023
Consider Bailey DTD with the hopes of being able to play soon.
Yandy Diaz – INF Tampa Bay Rays
#Rays Diaz said his left hip is bothering him a bit, but is available off the bench today and expects to be back in the lineup Friday vs. #Rangers
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) June 8, 2023
Consider him DTD with the hopes of returning later today. Diaz has missed two games in a row now.
Kevin Kiermaier – OF Toronto Blue Jays
UPDATE: OF Kevin Kiermaier was removed from tonight's game with a left wrist contusion.
He underwent precautionary X-rays which came back negative for a fracture.
— Toronto Blue Jays (@BlueJays) June 9, 2023
The good news is that the X-rays did not reveal a fracture. Expect Kiermaier to miss part or all of this weekend’s action as a result of this.
Victor Robles – OF Washington Nationals
Victor Robles is heading to Rochester today to begin a rehab assignment. Sounds like he could spend up to a week there as he gets back into full baseball shape.
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) June 8, 2023
Robles looks to be getting close to a return.
