Marcell Ozuna – OF Atlanta Braves
Marcell Ozuna's X-rays were negative. He is day-to-day with a right wrist contusion.

— Justin Toscano (@JustinCToscano) June 13, 2023
Ozuna left the game for precautionary reasons. The x-rays were negative and things look to be okay. Something to watch though. Approximately one hour after this tweet, Toscano sent another tweet to say that Ozuna was undergoing further evaluation at the hospital. Time will tell if that’s something to monitor or another at all.
John Means – SP Baltimore Orioles
The hope is that this setback is a minor one and that he can pitch at some point this year. The injury happened at some point last month but Means himself thinks that he has gotten past it. He has yet to throw again since then, so that’ll be a big hurdle to clear before anything else. He had previously advanced to throwing all of his pitches, so he was doing well. Keep in mind, he is recovering from Tommy John Surgery, so he is more of a 2024 option.
Trevor Story – 2BSS Boston Red Sox
Trevor Story said a rough timeline to come back at shortstop is August. Could come back to DH sometime in July but they haven’t decided which route to take. Shortstop or DH are the only options though, not second. He’s at 120 feet and aiming to build up to 150 feet throwing
— Jen McCaffrey (@jcmccaffrey) June 12, 2023
This coincides with the report that he could return earlier than expected as just a designated hitter. He continues to be a nice stash in leagues with spots on the Injured List.
Alex Faedo – SP Detroit Tigers
Good day for Alex Faedo today. He was able to do some plyo drills and very light tossing. Hadn’t been able to do that without pain until today.
— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) June 12, 2023
Faedo is feeling better after having a right fingernail removed. He had not been able to hold a ball and throw, so this is a nice development. Look for him to ramp up and start throwing, though he will likely need a rehab outing or two.
Gio Urshela – INF Los Angeles Angels
For those of you asking, Gio Urshela is dealing with some back trouble.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 12, 2023
Urshela has been in and out of the lineup for about a week now. He may end up on the Injured List if things don’t improve.
Johnny Cueto – SP Miami Marlins
Johnny Cueto is back and rehabbing 🚨

— Minor League Baseball (@MiLB) June 11, 2023
It’s been a while since Cueto last pitched for the Marlins due to an abundance of injuries. While this outing is promising, he will likely need a few more of these before he returns.
Robbie Ray – SP Seattle Mariners
Mariners have placed Penn Murfee on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation, Ty Adcock selected from AA. To make room on the 40-man roster, Robbie Ray has been transferred to the 60-day IL.
— Shannon Drayer (@shannondrayer) June 13, 2023
Ray’s recovery from Tommy John Surgery last month continues as he’s been officially placed on the 60-day Injured List.
Lars Nootbar – OF St. Louis Cardinals
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol said Lars Nootbaar (back spasms) continues to make progress. Nootbaar took batting practice swings & did sprint work today, Marmol said. Nootbaar, who has been out since May 14, will most likely need a MiLB rehab stint before returning to the Cards.
— John Denton (@JohnDenton555) June 12, 2023
Nootbar had some discomfort while swinging off of a tee last week, but he appears to be recovered from that ailment. Look for that rehab assignment to start within the next week, but it could be a long one since he’s been out for almost one month.
Ryan Helsley – RP St. Louis Cardinals
#STLCards manager Oli Marmol said closer Ryan Helsley (15-day IL) felt tightness in his right forearm while playing catch before Sunday’s game. Imaging showed no structural damage, so Helsley will be “no throw” for several days before starting a rehab program.
— John Denton (@JohnDenton555) June 12, 2023
The good news is that there is no structural damage, so anything incredibly long-term seems to be off the table for now. However, with Helsely shut down from throwing for several days, we are likely looking at a lengthy absence. He will undoubtedly need a rehab assignment once he’s at that point. He potentially has a long road ahead of him.
Josh Fleming – SP Tampa Bay Rays
Fleming was already transferred over to the 60-day Injured List this weekend. Now, with potential inflammation and cartilage build-up, we could be looking at an even more time away from the team. Stay tuned.
Pete Fairbanks – RP Tampa Bay Rays
This will be the second time he has thrown at the team’s Florida Conmple League base, and if this goes well, he may be back shortly afterward. There’s been no word on if he will require a rehab assignment or not.
Jon Gray – SP Texas Rangers
Pitching news: Bochy said Jon Gray has been scratched from tomorrow’s start vs. the Angels with a blister; TBD on who will pitch.
Bochy said it’s still TBD on when Gray returns, but it seems like more of a precaution to avoid a bigger injury.
— Shawn McFarland (@McFarland_Shawn) June 12, 2023
Consider Gray DTD and available to start once the blister goes away.
