Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Tuesday, August 1, 2023. In this edition, the Jays may lose one of their best players in Bo Bichette, as he jammed his knee last night. The team will be looking for answers ahead of the trade deadline. Also, it looks like Max Fried will be back at some point this week, which is a relief for owners everywhere. Finally, Mike Trout took a significant step forward with some dry swings. Where does that lead him next? All that and more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves
Alex Anthopoulus #Braves just told us that Max Fried has made his last rehab start. His next start is expected to be with the Braves as early as next weekend against the #Cubs. In addition, #Braves are not close to any trades but will keep the dialogue going thru the deadline.
— Jim Bowden⚾️🏈 (@JimBowdenGM) July 30, 2023
The speculation is that Fried will start at some point this weekend when the Braves are at the Cubs.
Justin Turner – INF Boston Red Sox
Left heel contusion for Justin Turner who is day-to-day.
— Chris Cotillo (@ChrisCotillo) August 1, 2023
The injury isn’t thought to be overly serious, but it is something to monitor. He may miss a game or two while it heals.
Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds
To make room on the 40-man roster, the #Reds transferred to the 60-day injured list RHP Hunter Greene (right hip pain).
— Cincinnati Reds (@Reds) July 31, 2023
The move allows the Reds to add Sam Moll to the 40-man roster, as he was acquired in a trade yesterday. Greene isn’t expected back until at least August 20.
Noah Syndergaard – SP Cleveland Guardians
Noah Syndergaard's line in his Cleveland debut (he was pulled with a runner on third after getting hit in the lower right leg):
5 1/3 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, 0 strikeouts, 1 hit batter, 68 pitches, 43 strikes
Then, everything for the Guardians went sideways…
— Mandy Bell (@MandyBell02) August 1, 2023
There was no mention after the game if this was a serious injury or not, so the move may have been precautionary. There should be updates later today on his status, but for now, consider Syndergaard DTD.
Charlie Blackmon – OF Colorado Rockies
.@ABQTopes announced that #Rockies DH-OF Charlie Blackmon will join the team on an injury rehab assignment Tuesday and Wednesday at Rio Grande Credit Union Field in Albuquerque.
— Thomas Harding (@harding_at_mlb) July 31, 2023
Blackmon will begin a rehab assignment after having missed the last six weeks of games. With Kris Bryant injured and Randal Grichuk traded, there should be plenty of at-bats for Blackmon once he’s back and healthy.
Jose Urquidy – SP Houston Astros
José Urquidy’s three-month rehab from shoulder inflammation is over and he’s going to rejoin the Astros’ rotation later this week. pic.twitter.com/9kcqRIjpKm
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) July 31, 2023
Urquidy has now completed his rehab assignment and is ready to rejoin the team. As he says here, he was happy with the quality of his stuff in his last outing, specifically the location of his changeup.
Jo Adell – OF Los Angeles Angels
Regarding Jo Adell — the expectation is that he'll be out a while. The oblique injury is considered significant. He should return this year, but there's no timeline on that right now.
— Sam Blum (@SamBlum3) July 30, 2023
It looks like Adell will be out of action for quite some time. Given the construction of the team, it’s hard to find a spot with consistent playing time for him when he does in fact return.
Mike Trout – OF Los Angeles Angels
Mike Trout is progressing to taking dry swings today, Nevin said. Big step for him.
— Rhett Bollinger (@RhettBollinger) July 31, 2023
Once we find out how things went with him here, Trout may progress to swinging and making contact with a ball. That may come in the form of off-a-tee or right-to-live batting.
Griffin Canning – SP Los Angeles Angels
Canning called it “general soreness” that lingered a little bit longer than normal. Not overly concerned.
— Erica Weston (@EricaLWeston) July 31, 2023
Canning isn’t expected to miss much time, but it is noteworthy that he missed last night’s start. There has been no word on if and when he’ll be inserted back into the rotation.
Michael Wacha – SP San Diego Padres
Bob Melvin shared the latest update on Michael Wacha's status, and if he plans to go back to a 6-man rotation at any point: pic.twitter.com/bch3GztCOv
— 97.3 The Fan (@973TheFanSD) July 31, 2023
Wacha threw two eighteen-pitch innings and the velocity was apparently there. Melvin stated that there would be updates later today based on how he felt. He also said that looking ahead at the schedule, they could go to a six-man rotation at points depending on how the schedule looks. They’re always looking to give guys the rest that they need. That’s how Wacha could fit into the mix down the stretch.
Thairo Estrada – INF San Francisco Giants
Thairo Estrada will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento tomorrow, which sets him up to return to big league lineup later this week.
— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) July 31, 2023
That’s fantastic news for the Giants and for fantasy owners everywhere. It looks like he’s on track to be back by this time next week.
Mike Yastrzemski – OF San Francisco Giants
Gabe Kapler said Mike Yastrzemski will likely be out two to three weeks.
— Maria I. Guardado (@mi_guardado) July 31, 2023
Yastrzemski recently left a game with a hamstring strain, and will now be out for at least two weeks.
Jarred Kelenic – OF Seattle Mariners
Jarred Kelenic is expected to be in a boot for 4-6 weeks and likely won’t be back until early September, Jerry Dipoto tells @RealBradAdam.
— Adam Jude (@A_Jude) July 22, 2023
Kelenic has already missed two weeks and will need at least two more in that walking boot. If all goes well, he could be back within a month, but that’s assuming there are no setbacks and that he is on schedule.
Bo Bichette – SS Toronto Blue Jays
Per #BlueJays manager John Schneider, the team is “still gathering information” on Bo Bichette. Bichette said he “jammed it” and the team will know more tomorrow
— Mitch Bannon (@MitchBannon) August 1, 2023
Bichette rounded first base and had to stop midway as he couldn’t put much pressure on the knee itself. Either way, it’s a terrible situation for the Jays to be in so close to the trade deadline. The team will be racing against the clock to get a diagnosis on the injury and know what they need to do before the deadline later today.
