MLB Injury Report

Kyle Wright – SP Atlanta Braves

Wright had his rehab appearance moved from High-A Rome to Triple-A Gwinnett yesterday and the results weren’t up to par. That being said, his fastball was just below his 2022 average, which is encouraging. What’s important to remember is that this is essentially his Spring Training right now, given the time away he’s had from the team. He’s starting from scratch and will need time and patience before returning to his role. The team will be in the playoffs and will need anyone pitching to be at their very best.

Aaron Hicks – OF Baltimore Orioles

Interesting choice of words here, since Hicks has been out of action since August 14 and has played in one game since July 24. While a rehab appearance shouldn’t be ruled out completely, it would seem logical to give him some time to get back into the swing of things.

Wilyer Abreu – OF Boston Red Sox

Be prepared.

Jarren Duran – OF Boston Red Sox

Duran will miss the rest of the 2023 season but is expected to be ready for Spring Training.

Marcus Stroman – SP Chicago Cubs

This is progress for Stroman, as he was previously only able to play soft toss. He still has many hurdles to clear, but accomplishing two in two days is a step in the right direction.

Austin Gomber – SP Colorado Rockies

Gomber left his last start with back soreness. There’s a chance that he heads to the Injured List for this, which could cost him most of what’s left of the schedule.

Salvador Perez – C/1B Kansas City Royals

There was nothing listed about this injury that would suggest it’s more than a DTD situation. The team is off today, so there’s a chance Perez is back tomorrow.

J.D. Martinez – UT Los Angeles Dodgers

Be prepared.

Mason Miller – SP Oakland Athletics

It was believed that Miller would be back sooner than this, but he will apparently need one more outing. Stay tuned.

Ranger Suarez – SP Philadelphia Phillies

Be prepared.

Jake Cronenworth – INF San Diego Padres

Cronenworth took a pitch off of his wrist and suffered a fracture. He has been out of action for almost a week and will undoubtedly be out for much longer. It wouldn’t be surprising if he doesn’t return at all this season. He likely won’t need surgery, but that option is still on the table.

Julio Rodriguez – OF Seattle Mariners

Rodriguez has said that he is frustrated by this injury because it seemingly came out of nowhere. He will get precautionary examinations just to be sure everything is okay. The good news is that he plans on returning this weekend and may in fact avoid a trip to the Injured List.

George Kirby – SP Seattle Mariners

Be prepared.

Tyler O’Neill – OF St. Louis Cardinals

O’Neill has missed two of his team’s last four games. It remains to be seen if he will need to head to the Injured List.

Dylan Carlson – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Carlson still intends on returning this season, but surgery has not yet been ruled out either.

Lane Thomas – OF Washington Nationals

Consider Thomas DTD for now until we hear otherwise.
