MLB Injury Report

Ketel Marte – 2B Arizona Diamondbacks

Marte did not come into the game and play. It doesn’t look like he will be out for long if he was in fact available to do so.

Kyle Wright – SP Atlanta Braves, Spencer Strider – SP Atlanta Braves

Wright could make his first start since May 3, as there could be an opening in their rotation. As for Strider, his start will be pushed back a bit while he gets healthy.

John Means – SP Baltimore Orioles

Be prepared.

James Paxton – SP Boston Red Sox

Paxton season ends on a sour note after doing so well after debuting in the spring. Look for Pivetta to get additional time to prove his worth to the Sox for 2024.

Jeimer Candelario – INF Chicago Cubs

Consider Candelario DTD until we’re told otherwise.

Marcus Stroman – SP Chicago Cubs

If Stroman does return this season, it will apparently be in a bullpen role. There is some speculation that he will be back this week, with the rumored date of Friday being the target.

Yoan Moncada – 3B Chicago White Sox

Moncada has apparently been dealing with this injury for a while, and Saturday’s game was when it climaxed to the point where he couldn’t perform. It may have plateaued during a strikeout where he fell.

Noelvi Marte – SS Cincinnati Reds

Marte was hit by a throw from a teammate on Saturday during warmups. A broken nose could lead to a trip to the Injured List, but he may opt for the protective mask.

Miguel Cabrera – UT Detroit Tigers

With only weeks of his career remaining, the hope is that he can finish it off healthy.

Shohei Ohtani – UT Los Angeles Angels, Nolan Schanuel – 1B Los Angeles Angels

It would be an incredible feat for Ohtani to return this week. That said, if anyone can do it, he can. As for Schanuel, there is no word on whether an Injury List designation is upcoming, but from the sound of it, he should avoid it.

Corbin Burnes – SP Milwaukee Brewers, Joey Wiemer – OF Milwaukee Brewers

Burnes was incredible in his outing yesterday, but this puts a damper on his celebrations. As stated, it looks like he will be able to pitch his next time out there. As for Wiemer, he shouldn’t miss any time.

Jorge Polanco – INF Minnesota Twins

The best is wished for the Polanco family.

Francisco Alvarez – C New York Mets

Alvarez was hit by a pitch yesterday, and the X-Rays coming back negative are a good sign. As Showalter said, it depends on how he comes back to the team today before a decision is made on his status.

Jasson Dominguez – OF New York Yankees

The decision to have Tommy John Surgery will be made in the near future. Whether or not he needs it, this is a tough injury for the Yankees, as Dominguez is a key piece of the team’s future. The timeline for this type of injury is sketchy since it’s dependent on the player, the team, and the arm itself. Manager Boone said it would require 9-10 months, whereas Passan himself said it could be 6-7 months. The latter later clarified that the shorter timeline was based on how aggressively the team wanted to handle the situation.

Andres Munoz – RP Seattle Mariners

It sounds like Munoz just needs a day or two to get himself right. The good news for Seattle is that the bullpen is a strength for them and they should be covered.

CJ Abrams – SS Washington Nationals

Abrams did not play in yesterday’s game, but Martinez seems confident that he will return today. Time will tell if that assessment comes to fruition.
