Week 4 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire By Position

Quarterbacks

Andy Dalton

Yes, Andy Dalton! When you throw for 361 yards and 2 touchdowns you end up being a player of interest. Dalton threw the ball 58 times to get those numbers. The Vikings are up next, and they give up the 7seventh-most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. The Panthers will throw the ball and the Vikings will let them in Week 4. The Vikings give up an average of 257 yards and 2 touchdowns per game to quarterbacks. The Red Rifle is available everywhere!

Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy G is coming off a 324-yard 2-touchdown game against the Steelers. The Steelers are actually pretty good against the pass, so this game is relatively impressive. Next up are the Chargers, the Chargers give up the second most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Quarterback average 356 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Chargers. They were torched by Tua Tagovailao in Week 1 for 466 yards and 3 touchdowns and in Week 3 by Kirk Cousins for 367 yards and 3 touchdowns. If you need Quarterback help, Garoppolo is a nice plug-and-play in Week 4.

Other Quarterbacks to Consider

CJ Stroud has 4 touchdown passes in the last two games. Stroud is third in the league in pass attempts. The Texans have passed the ball the 5th most in the NFL with 207 pass attempts in the first 3 games. They pass the ball 638% of their offensive plays. Stroud is not about to stop throwing the ball anytime soon.

Running Backs

De’Von Achane

Achane literally exploded on the scene in Week 3. He had 18 rushing attempts for 203 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Achane also had 4 receptions for 30 yards and another 2 touchdowns. I Would say he most likely has earned some touches moving forward. I am sure people will be breaking the bank to add Achane if available in their league. He is the number one add if available.

Jerrick McKinnon

McKinnon was back to his red zone usage in Week 3. He had 2 carries for 9 yards and 3 receptions for 19 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you are RB needy, I would make the speculative add. I wouldn’t break the bank for McKinnon as it appears the Chiefs are using a 3-back committee. The schedule the rest of the way for the Chiefs has only one game with a team that is tough on running backs. That is Week 11 against the Eagles.

Rico Dowdle

Rico had 4 carries for 21 yards, and 3 receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. He is Tony Pollard’s back up which makes him the current handcuff if you have space on your bench. Dowdle is another speculative add and a nice handcuff.

Other Running Backs to Consider

Matt Breida started in Week 3 for the Giants as Saquon Barkley missed the game with an ankle sprain. Breida carried the ball 4 times for 17 yards and saved his fantasy day with a touchdown. He also had 3 receptions for 1 yard. Not the stellar numbers you would hope for. But if Barkley misses Week 4 as well there is good news. The Seahawks are the opponent in Week 4. The Seahawks give up the 7th most fantasy points to opposing teams running backs. In each of the first three games of the season opponents have had at least one rushing touchdown and a running back has reached double-digit fantasy scores.

Some other players are seeing significant snap share and could potentially become relevant. Like Melvin Gordon, who saw 45% of a snap share of the Ravens backfield in Week 3. And Tyjae Spears continues to see significant time on the field with 56% of the snaps for the Titans. Both players are nice speculative adds for deep benches.

Wide Receivers

Adam Thielen

Thielen has scored a touchdown in each of the past two games. He also is leading the Panthers in targets with 25 for the season. In week 3 Adam had 14 targets which he turned into 11 receptions, 145 yards, and a touchdown. The Vikings are up next, the Panthers will throw against them. I would add and play Thielen in Week 4.

Tank Dell

In Week 2 Tank had 10 targets which he made into 7 receptions, 72 yards, and a touchdown. In Week 3 Tank had 7 targets for 5 receptions, 145 yards, and a touchdown. The Texans will continue to pass the ball. It seems like we are talking about adding Tank Dell every week.

Marvin Mims Jr.

Mims is only playing roughly 25% of the snaps so far this season. But in the last two games, he has a total of 5 receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown receiving. He has also totaled 166 return yards and a touchdown in these two games. The guy has been incredibly efficient with his targets and will grow into a larger role as he simply produces. If you play in a league that rewards return yards for the individual player, I would add him today.

Joshua Palmer

Palmer was already in on 3 wide receiver sets. In Week 3 Mike Williams had a season ending injury which will move Palmer into the WR2 role for the Chargers. Justin Herbert trusts Palmer and he has had success in this role in the past. In Week 3 Palmer responded to more targets with 4 receptions, 66 yards and a touchdown. He a great addition as he plays on a Chargers team that has passed the ball 121 times through 3 games.

Other Wide Receivers to Consider

Another Panthers wide receiver had a significant number of targets in Week 3. That was DJ Chark, who saw 11 targets which he turned into 4 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. Romeo Doubs continues to see targets from Jordan Love in Week 3. Doubs saw 12 targets and had 5 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Then there is Pittsburgh Steeler Calvin Austin III. Austin had 6 Targets, 2 receptions, 72 yards, and a touchdown in Week 3. He is on the field in 3 wide receiver sets, he has been very efficient so far and his target share will go up. Quinton Johnston is a nice speculative add as he moves into the third wide receiver role for the Chargers. Johnston’s snap count should jump from roughly 24% of the snaps to 60%. More snaps, more opportunities for the rookie.

Tight Ends

Donald Parham

Do you know who leads all tight ends in touchdowns this season? It is Donald Parham with 3 touchdowns. He seems to only be used in the endzone, but he is used there. He had 2 targets for 2 receptions 4 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 3.

Luke Musgrave

Musgrave had 8 targets in Week 3. Luke turned that into 6 receptions for 49 yards. This is the famine which is the tight end position this season. We are talking about players that score 7 points or see 2 targets are players to add. For Musgrave the next three games are beautiful The Packers play the Lions in Week 4, the Raiders in Week 5 and the Broncos in Week 7. All three teams are currently bottom 10 against defending the tight end. I would take the good matchups where I can get them.
