Key Fantasy Football Takeaways from NFL Week 6

Every week I take a look at all of the teams that played on Thursday and Sunday for a given week, and write out my Fantasy Football notes within this piece. It takes a long time, and it is not always the most fun but I am willing to do the dirty work for you here.

This specific article looks at what happened in Week 6, but I also reflect on prior weeks to really shape pictures for Fantasy Football. Being aware of who is scoring what for Fantasy as well as what the usage and production metrics look like with truly help you as a Fantasy Football manager. Below are my Fantasy Football notes from Week 6 that I believe you need to know.

Key Week 6 Fantasy Football Takeaways

Arizona

  • Week 6 was the first time Trey McBride had an impact. Four receptions on 5 targets for 62 yards and 10.2 Fantasy Points.
  • Rough day for Joshua Dobbs who threw 21/41 for 235 passing yards and an interception.
  • Season-high 11 targets for Marquise Brown but he only hauled in four of them. Poor Fantasy Football week but on a positive note it was the third straight week Hollywood earned double-digit targets and the fourth time this season he did.
  • 12 touches for Keontay Ingram, nine for Damien Williams, and just three for Emari Demercado. By the looks of it, Demercado was a waste of a waiver pickup.

Atlanta

  • Last week, Drake London earned a season-high nine targets and totaled a season-high 78 receiving yards. In Week 6, London upped both of those metrics to new season highs with 12 targets and 125 receiving yards. London scored a season-high 21.5 Fantasy Points and is showing signs of consistent usage and production.
  • Back-to-back weeks with Desmond Ridder throwing for over 300 yards with 329 last week and 307 this week. Week 6 was the first time Ridder threw a pair of touchdowns in a game but that seemed to nearly cancel out due to the three interceptions.
  • After scoring 15.7 Fantasy Points last week, Kyle Pitts scored 14.3 in Week 6 which was guided by 43 yards and a touchdown. This was the first time Pitts scored this season.
  • Jonnu Smith has scored double-digit Fantasy Points now for three straight weeks: 15.5-10.7-13.7.
  • Bijan Robinson out-touched Tyler Allgeier 18 to 13.

Baltimore

  • Justin Tucker led all Ravens in Fantasy Scoring with 19 points. 6/6 on the day.
  • For the fifth time this season, Lamar Jackson threw for a 70%+ completion percentage (21/30). 223 passing and 62 rushing yards with a one-to-one touchdown to interception ratio.
  • Zay Flowers scored his first touchdown of the season. Flowers caught six of his eight targets for 50 yards for his second week scoring 17-ish Fantasy Points. Flowers has 14 more targets than any other Raven so far this season.
  • 17 touches for Gus Edwards and 11 touches for Justice Hill, with Hill more Fantasy productive by a hair.

Buffalo

  • Stefon Diggs continues to be one of the most consistent wide receivers for Fantasy Football to roster. Week 6 Diggs caught 10 passes for the second time this season on a season-high 16 targets for 100 receiving yards. Diggs has finished with 10+ receiving yards now in five of his six games and with 20+ Fantasy Points in four games this season.
  • Josh Allen threw 19/30 for 169 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. This marked the second time this season Allen scored under 14 Fantasy Points.
  • James Cook finished with 14 touches, Latavius Murray with 12 and Damien Harris exited Week 6 with a neck injury.

Carolina

  • Adam Thielen looks like “this year’s Cooper Kupp”. Unbelievable streak of Fantasy production through six weeks. Thielen’s 28.5 Fantasy Points marks his fourth week over 20 points through six weeks. Week 6 was now the third time Thielen left a game with 11 receptions on 13+ targets for over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
  • With no Miles Sanders this week, Chuba Hubbard was able to touch the ball a lot more than usual resulting in a 16-point Fantasy week. 19 rushing attempts for 88 yards and a touchdown.
  • After his best outing in Week 5, 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young took a step backwards completing 23/38 for 217 and a touchdown.

Chicago

  • Justin Fields exited the game in the third quarter with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Rookie Tyson Bagent came in for Fields, who we will have to monitor this week when it comes to the thumb. The offense was terrible to follow, with only DJ Moore scoring double-digit Fantasy Points for players (10.1).
  • D’Onta Foreman totaled 16 touches with both Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson out of the mix.

Cincinnati

  • Tyler Boyd led all Bengals with 16.8 Fantasy Points. Boyd caught all seven targets with one resulting in a touchdown. Week 6 marked the fifth straight game with 7+ targets.
  • Ja’Marr Chase caught six of his 13 targets for 80 yards and scored 14 Fantasy Points. Definitely cooled off in Week 6 after his massive 52.2 outing in Week 5. The targets have been solid regardless since Week 3: 15-9-19-13.
  • Another poor Fantasy week for Joe Burrow who threw 24/35 for 185, two touchdowns, and an interception. Burrow has yet to rush for over seven yards this season and has thrown an interception in four of his last five games. Week 6 marked Burrow’s fourth game under 17 Fantasy Points.
  • Tee Higgins was questionable for Week 6 after missing Week 5 with a fractured rib. Higgins ended up catching just two of his four targets for 20 for his fourth game under five Fantasy Points.

Cleveland

  • Kareem Hunt carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards and a score and caught three passes for 24 yards. Hunt scored 16.1 Fantasy Points. Jerome Ford rushed 17 times for 84 yards and caught two passes for seven for 11.1 Fantasy Points. Committee approach with Hunt rising in it.
  • Amari Cooper still was productive with backup PJ Walker starting for an injured Deshaun Watson. Cooper caught four of his eight targets for a solid 108 receiving yards and 14.8 Fantasy Points. Week 6 marked the second game for Cooper over 100 receiving yards, and third of 90+ receiving yards.

Denver

  • Courtland Sutton scored his fourth touchdown of the season in week 6, resulting in 14.6 Fantasy Points. Sutton caught four of his six targets for 46 yards. Sutton has scored double-digit Fantasy Points in five of six games this season, mostly floating from the 11-14 point range.
  • Javonte Williams returned and carried the ball 10 times for 52 yards. Jaleel McLaughlin continued to have a role with nine total touches for 42 scrimmage yards.
  • Rough week for Russell Wilson who threw 13/22 for just 95 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Week 6 was the lowest yardage total through the air for Wilson, and the third time he has thrown for under 200 yards this season.

Detroit

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown finished Week 6 with career highs in targets (15), receptions (12), receiving yards (124) and Fantasy Points (30.4). ARSB scored his third touchdown of the season as well in Week 6, and all of these metrics come after missing Week 5 with an abdominal injury. ARSB has now finished three games with over 100 receiving yards and has scored 19+ Fantasy Points three times this season.
  • Jared Goff continues to produce and threw a season-high 44 times in Week 6. Goff completed 30 passes for a season high 353 passing yards and tossed two touchdowns. Week 6 was Goff’s second time throwing for over 320 passing yards, and third time throwing multiple touchdowns in a game.
  • Jameson Williams showed off his upside in deep plays with two receptions for 53 yards with one of them being a score.
  • David Montgomery left Week 6’s game with a rib injury, leaving Craig Reynolds to take over as the lead back with Jahmyr Gibbs out with a hamstring injury. Both Montgomery and Gibbs’ injuries will need to be monitored.

Houston

  • After opening up the first three weeks with under eight Fantasy Points, Dalton Schultz has been on a hot streak for the last three games now. Schultz caught four of his seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown for 16.1 Fantasy Points. Schultz has finished back-to-back weeks with over 60 receiving yards, scored a touchdown in three straight games, and has totaled 17 targets in the last two weeks. 13.2-19.5-16.1 Fantasy Points in the last three.
  • CJ Stroud threw 13/27 for 199 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Week 6 was Stroud’s lowest totals in completions, attempts, completion percentage, and passing yards and was his first interception of the year.
  • Nico Collins caught four of his six targets for 80 receiving yards and scored 12 Fantasy Points. Week 6 marked the fourth week that Collins finished with 80+ receiving yards.
  • Devin Singletary finished with 13 touches which matched Dameon Pierce and may want to be monitored.

Indianapolis

  • No Anthony Richardson, no problem for Michael Pittman Jr., who finished Week 6 with a season-high 109 receiving yards. Pittman was targeted for a season high 14 times by Gardner Minshew. Week 6 marked the second time Pittman has scored 19+ Fantasy Points and the fourth time he was targeted over 10 times.
  • Zack Moss finished with 13 touches in Week 6, seven on the ground with six receptions. Moss scored his fourth rushing touchdown as well. Jonathan Taylor rushed the ball eight times and had five receptions. Both backs were again utilized, with both highly involved in the passing game this week.
  • Another FLEX-worthy week for rookie Josh Downs, who caught five of his eight targets for 21 yards and a touchdown. 13.7 Fantasy Points in Week 3, 15.7 in Week 5, and 13.1 in Week 6.

Jacksonville

  • Travis Etienne rushed 18 times for 55 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 23.3 Fantasy Points. Etienne has scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in back-to-back weeks and has scored over 21 Fantasy Points three times this season so far.
  • Trevor Lawrence threw 20/30 for 181 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Lawrence exited the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury that will need to be monitored this week.
  • Christian Kirk scored his second touchdown of the season and scored 13.9 Fantasy Points. Five straight weeks for Kirk scoring this amount or higher. Poor Calvin Ridley day, earning eight targets for the second consecutive week but catching just four for 30 yards.
  • Evan Engram caught all seven targets for 41 yards. Seven targets broke Engram’s streak of exactly eight targeted weeks, which lasted four straight weeks.

Kansas City

  • Second week in a row that Travis Kelce scored over 21 Fantasy Points. Kelce caught all nine targets for a season high 124 receiving yards. Kelce was coming off of a game where he caught 10 of 11 targets for 67 yards and a score. Definitely back to TE1 form.
  • Patrick Mahomes threw 30/40 for 306 yards and both a touchdown and interception. Solid volume through the air with back-to-back weeks at 41/40 attempts but Mahomes has scored under 20 Fantasy Points the last three games in a row now which is under his Fantasy Football ADP expectation.
  • Isiah Pacheco continues to produce and see quality volume. 16 rushing attempts for 62 yards and a season high six receptions for 36 yards. 15.8 Fantasy Points marks the third time he hit this score or higher across the last four weeks
  • Rashee Rice deserves some more attention from Fantasy managers. Fourth double-digit Fantasy week of the year in Week 6, catching four passes for a season high 72 receiving yards. The rookie being second on the team in targets is significant in my book.

Los Angeles

  • After scoring 19.8 Fantasy Points in his season debut last week, Cooper Kupp scored 27.8 points in Week 6. Kupp caught seven of his nine targets for 148 receiving yards and a touchdown. 118 then 148 receiving yards is a great trend to have and aligns with the heavy Kupp expectations we all have had.
  • Kyren Williams rushed the ball 20 times for a season high 158 yards and scored his sixth rushing touchdown of the season. 21.8 Fantasy Points marks the third time Williams hit this score or higher. Williams unfortunately suffered an ankle injury and reports came out that he will miss Week 7. Backup Ronnie Rivers suffered a PCL injury after coming in as well. Tough week for the Rams running back room.
  • Matthew Stafford threw 15/24 for 226 yards and a touchdown. Stafford has yet to score 18 Fantasy Points this season.
  • Down week for Puka Nacua, who scored just 6.6 Fantasy Points. Nacua has scored 20+ Fantasy Points in four of his six games this season.

Las Vegas

  • Jakobi Meyers continues to absolutely ball out for the Raiders. Five receptions on seven targets for 61 yards and a touchdown for 17.1 Fantasy Points in Week 6. This was coming off of a game Meyers finished with 75 yards, a touchdown, and 20.5 Fantasy Points last week. Meyers has scored 15+ Fantasy Points four times this season now.
  • After earning three targets in Week 5, rookie Michael Mayer earned six in Week 6 and caught five of them for 75 receiving yards. Mayer had a solid receiving profile out of Notre Dame, so this is encouraging to see from the second-round selection.
  • Josh Jacobs finished Week 6 with season highs in rushing attempts with 25 and rushing yards with 77. The two receptions for Jacobs was the lowest since Week 1.
  • Jimmy Garoppolo left Week 6 with a back injury and ended up taking a trip to the hospital.
  • Davante Adams caught two of his five targets for 29 yards and scored 4.9 Fantasy Points. Back-to-back weeks scoring under nine Fantasy Points is not very Adams-like.

Miami

  • Raheem Mostert operated once again as the lead back, rushing 17 times for 115 yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns. Mostert caught three passes as well and scored a third total touchdown on one of those. 34.2 Fantasy Points was huge for Fantasy managers. Mostert has now rushed for 115+ yards twice and scored over 25 Fantasy Points three times now. Mostert has scored 11 total touchdowns through six weeks of football.
  • Even with Tyreek Hill briefly exiting Week 6 due to cramping, he finished with 163 receiving yards. Hill caught six passes on 10 targets and scored on one of them resulting in 28.3 Fantasy Points. Hill has had receiving yard lines of 215-157-181-163
  • Tua Tagovailoa threw 21/31 for 262 passing yards and three touchdowns. This marks the third week Tua has thrown for at least three touchdowns in a week and also his third week over 22 Fantasy Points.

  • TJ Hockenson caught six passes for 50 yards on eight targets. Hockenson has had back-to-back weeks with eight targets and has hit this or more targets five times through six weeks.

New England

  • Kendrick Bourne showed us life for the first time since his 24.4 Fantasy Points in Week 1 with 19.3 in Week 6. Bourne caught 10 of his 11 targets for 89 receiving yards. No other Patriot caught more than one ball or earned more than three targets.

New York
