Fantasy Hockey Week 3 Goalie Streams – 10/23/23

The NHL has started to get going as we head into the third week of the season. Players and teams are just settling in while others have gotten off to hot starts. As the schedule normally works, some teams play four times and some play as little as twice. When looking for goalie streams in fantasy hockey, it’s best to look at back-to-backs and if there are injuries to starters. That is what we have for you here today. This is a look at the three best options in net to stream in Week 3 of the fantasy hockey season.

Fantasy Hockey Week 3 Goalie Streams

Pyotr Kochetkov, Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes have gotten off to a very odd start by their standards this season. The typically great defensive team has a team save percentage of .833 this season so far. But, fortunately, they have scored a lot, getting their goalies wins. This team will surely clean things up very soon as they have too good of a team not to.

For the time being, Pyotr Kochetkov and Antti Raanta will be splitting the net as Frederik Andersen has found himself injured as he usually does. Though Kochetkov is 0-2 on the young season, he only got to start one of the games. He might not be in the crease on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, which could be a good thing, but he will draw in to start one of the back-to-backs against either the Seattle Kraken or San Jose Sharks. These two teams have one combined win and 18 total goals scored in 11 games this season. Even if some goals squeak in, a win is very likely for the Hurricanes.

Eric Comrie, Buffalo Sabres

After starting the first four games of the season, Devon Levi sat out in the Buffalo Sabres’ recent game due to injury. This saw Eric Comrie take the crease and he was very good. If he is the first option when Levi went down, this likely means he will get 2-3 starts this week if the Sabres’ starter doesn’t return to the lineup.

The Sabres have gotten off to a 2-3-0 start, but Comrie is 1-0. After his last performance, I would bet the team goes back to him for the first game of a week starting back-to-back against the Montreal Canadiens. If not, he would see the Ottawa Senators. With the matchups a bit tougher later in the week against the New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche, we’re looking for his value to come early in the week.

Jake Allen, Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens have an easier schedule this week and play four games. While Jake Allen and Sam Montembeault have each started two games, Allen has looked better with a .907 SV%. He helped the Canadiens defeat the Washington Capitals in his last start and I can see the team leading the week off with him against the Sabres. If not, the Devils are up the night after.

Since the Canadiens seem to just be alternating and judging which goalie is going to take the net, that means Allen will either get the Columbus Blue Jackets or Winnipeg Jets this week as well. Although they are a young team, the Canadiens don’t look bad and Allen is experienced.

You will want to jump on these goalie streams early. Also, keep a close eye on the waiver wire later in the week if you are in need of more quality starts. Goalies are tricky and it’s tough to predict who is going to play every night. These streaming options will all at least get one start this week to help out your fantasy hockey team.
