The hope is that everyone continues to be profitable playing NFL DFS. Regardless, that is now in the past and we have a new week of action in front of us. My intention is to help you make Week 7 of NFL DFS a week to remember as you finish in the green. With that being said, let us jump right into my top Week 7 DFS picks. With six teams on bye this week though, things will be a little more difficult.
Each week, I will take a look at one option at each position that can be a nice piece in your lineup. Additionally, I will provide one stud and one value option to target along with one expected bust.
NFL Week 7 DFS Picks
Quarterback
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks, $6,000
This week at the quarterback position, there is a pretty big cliff. While Geno Smith will never be confused with being an elite quarterback, it’s also been hard to argue with what he’s done as of late. It also doesn’t hurt that this week he faces an Arizona Cardinals team that has allowed the fifth most DraftKings points to opposing quarterbacks.
Playing at home will benefit Smith, and then factor in the favorable matchup, and we are in business.
While he failed to get into the end zone last week, Smith did throw for 323 yards in Cincinnati. It was the first time this season Smith failed to pick up a touchdown this season in what has been an up-and-down year. With D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the fold, Smith isn’t lacking for weapons downfield. In his last four games, Smith is four yards away from having three games of at least 300 passing yards. Based on the matchup that we’ve seen thus far, the Seattle quarterback is in a good spot entering Week 7.
Running Back
Brian Robinson, Washington Commanders, $5,800
Brian Robinson is coming off a rough game last week against Atlanta and their tough rushing defense. In Washington’s victory, Robinson managed just 31 yards on 10 carries, but things were saved from a fantasy perspective by a receiving touchdown.
From a yardage perspective, it has been an up-and-down season for Robinson averaging 50.3 rushing yards per game. If we take a closer look though, one of those games (10 rushing yards) was a causality of game flow. Robinson also struggled against the Eagles gaining 45 yards on 14 carries in the game prior. However, in his other two games, Robinson rushed for 87 and 70 yards with better matchups.
This week, Robinson gets a favorable matchup against a Giants team allowing the seventh most DraftKings points to opposing running backs. Also, with five touchdowns on the season (three on the ground and two in the air), Robinson has multiple paths toward production.
Wide Receiver
Drake London, Atlanta Falcons, $5,100
I promise this isn’t a repeat of last week’s installment. We hit on Drake London as he finished with nine receptions for 125 yards. With 12 targets, London was a clear focus of the offense, and I wouldn’t expect that to change this week.
After London’s success, his price went up just $300 and this week he has a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay. Atlanta has to focus on developing Desmond Ridder along with London, and the talent (at least on the latter’s side) is very much there. Even when the results haven’t been there, the targets have been for London.
At this salary, let’s run it back again with our Week 7 DFS Picks.
Tight End
Michael Meyer, Las Vegas Raiders, $2,700
Entering the NFL Draft there was a lot of buzz surrounding Michael Meyer but others surpassed him. Over the past two weeks though, we have seen Meyer take on a larger role.
Last week that was especially the case as Meyer caught five of six targets for 75 yards. After Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders receiving corps gets pretty thin. With Brian Hoyer back under center this week, the expectation is that the veteran will also look for the security of Meyer once again.
The fact that the rookie is essentially free also helps here. It is a favorable matchup against Chicago, and Meyer is one of my Week 7 DFS targets.
Defense
Indianapolis Colts, $3,400
While Deshaun Watson has returned to practice on a limited basis, the thought process here is that it will be another week of PJ Walker. With Walker under center, the strategy is to target the Browns’ offense.
Cleveland did pull off the upset victory against San Francisco last week, but it wasn’t necessarily an explosive offense performance. In fact, we really haven’t seen that in general from the Browns yet this season.
Even if Watson does return, there is not much concern as the Browns are allowing opposing defenses to score the fifth most DK points. With four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 18 sacks on the season, Indianapolis has the ability to make things happen.
DFS Stud
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams, $9,500
Was Cooper Kupp ever really out? Was he actually injured? I guess preseason really is irrelevant here as Kupp has been dominant since his return.
Now that we are done gushing over Kupp, let’s take a look at what he has done to this point. There are not many big “pay up” options, but Kupp is one of them. He followed up an eight-catch, 118-yard season debut by catching seven passes for 148 yards. Additionally, Kupp found the end zone as he truly picked up where he left off.
There is no reason to expect Kupp to slow down, and he has a great matchup against the Steelers this week.
DFS Value
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks, $3,900
While both are expected to play, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf are banged up leaving their status in question. Should either not be active this week, then Jaxon Smith-Njigba will really take a step forward, but I like the rookie regardless this week. With that being said, he also is line to benefit from Lockett and/or Metcalf being limited.
At some point, Smith-Njigba will emerge as he continues to adjust to the NFL game. Last week was the rookie’s best game as he caught four passes for 48 yards. It is a great matchup against Arizona this week, and Smith-Njigba is a great low-cost pairing with Geno Smith.
DFS Bust
Saquon Barkley, New York Giants, $8,100
We don’t have to worry about volume here as Saquon Barkley will be busy. In fact, the Giants simply don’t have a choice to lean on Barkley, but their offense is a mess. Tyrod Taylor will likely be back under center, the offensive line is a complete mess, and they haven’t generated any momentum this season.
Last week, Barkley was only able to generate 93 yards on 24 carries while catching four passes for just five yards. It’s difficult to count on Barkley getting into the end zone. Without the big play potential, Barkley is simply too expensive.
