As I was writing this article the news was delivered that Joe Burrow is out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury. Injuries have ravaged NFL and fantasy football teams alike this season. If your team has not been destroyed by the injury bug you should be thankful. It is the perfect time of year for you to give thanks as Thanksgiving is this coming Thursday. It’s also a reminder that value can pop up on the waiver wire at any time during the week. It doesn’t end on Wednesday!
I am going to keep the introduction short this week and say a special thank you to Doug my editor. He is old like me and typically he actually gets my jokes. Thank you to Nick and the entire Fantrax fantasy team as we all work so hard to get content out there to help people win.
Finally, thank you to anyone reading this article. It means the world to me that you allow me to do something I truly enjoy. I hope it helps you in fantasy football. Now let’s get to the best waiver wire additions you can make prior to the games starting this weekend.
This column refers to players rostered in under 50% of Yahoo, ESPN, and Sleeper Leagues.
Week 11 Weekend Waiver Wire
Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is the third week in a row I have been writing about Mayfield in this weekend waiver wire article. He also has three straight weeks of passing for over 230 yards and two touchdowns. With players like Joe Burrow out for the season, I would add Mayfield now. He has been very steady even in tough matchups. I know, I know I can’t believe he continues to produce as well, but he does.

Running Backs
Latavius Murray, Buffalo Bills
We keep thinking it will be Leonard Fournette who will be James Cook’s backup for the Bills, but it was Murray who the Bills turned to after a James Cook fumble. Murray had 9 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown in Week 10. He is a nice addition with the potential to get more touches in the future, even at his age. Lombardi Lenny might be a nice little addition too if you have space.

Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
15 carries for 45 yards and a TD. Out-touched and out-produced the “just another guy” Alexander Mattison in Week 10. The Broncos are up in Week 11 and give up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The Vikings have been splitting carries between two running backs all season.

Other running backs to consider if you are desperate:
- Zach Charbonnet – 43% rostered on Yahoo. If anything were to happen to Kenneth Walker Charbs walks into top 12 territory at RB.
- Tyjae Spears – 39% rostered on Yahoo. Spears splits time with Derrick Henry and has a great rest-of-the-season schedule.
- Rico Dowdle – 15% rostered in Yahoo. 12 carries for 79 yards and a TD in Week 10. Clearly outproduced Tony Pollard this week is his clear backup.
- Ezekiel Elliott – on a bye in Week 11. 39% rostered in Yahoo. Super easy schedule for the rest of the season and is the clear backup to Rhamondre Stevenson.
NOTE: Now is a great time if you have space on your roster to add one of these running backs above. If anything happens to the starter in front of them they will all be getting an uptick in touches and production.

Wide Receivers
Jalen Guyton, Los Angelos Chargers
The Chargers are losing wide receivers like the trees are losing leaves this time of year. They just keep falling, this week Keenan Allen is questionable, and they have already lost Josh Palmer and Mike Williams. Guyton is a nice addition if you have room.

Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
Reed certainly made Christian Watson look bad. He saw 5 targets, 5 receptions, 84 yards and a TD in Week 10. He has been very solid since Week 6 Bye. Reed has a 15% share of the Packers targets. He also has a 62% catch rate which is the highest of the Packers wide receivers. The Chargers are up next week, and they give up the 4th most points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. HE could be what we hoped Christian Watson would be the rest of the way.

Other wide receivers to consider:
- Demario Douglas – 33% rostered on Yahoo. He has seen 23 targets over the past 3 games. In Week 10 he had 6 receptions and 84 yards. If you are playing PPR he is the top option for the Patriots.
- Quinton Johnston – 33% rostered on Yahoo. Another Chargers wide receiver that will be thrust into a bigger role with everyone in front of him getting injured.
Tight Ends
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
13 total targets in the past 2 games. 100% catch rate with those 6 receptions for 66 yards in Week 9 and 7 receptions for 70 yards in Week 10. Zach Wilson is putting passes on him like it’s a friend of his mom.

Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers
In Week 11 the Packers are playing the Chargers who give up the 6th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. The Lions are up in Week 12, and they give e up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends. You get at least two weeks of potential production. Musgrave is a pretty dynamic tight end and has a high catch rate. I have nothing funny to say here.

Other wide receivers to consider:
- Pat Freiermuth – Freiermuth is 49% rostered on Yahoo and coming off an injury. He has been a viable play when healthy.
- Isaiah Likely – Isaiah is only 3% rostered on Yahoo. With Mark Andrews getting injured Likely will be the starting tight end for the Baltimore Ravens.
