Fantasy Hockey Week 11 Waiver Wire Forwards – 12/19/23

The waiver wire is a great place to find hidden gems that will help your fantasy hockey team in the short term and sometimes the long term as well. You have likely already taken advantage of this through the first 10 weeks of the season. Regardless, there will still be strong options on the waiver wire at forward that we will look at. Even if it is only for a few games, these players are worth adding to help your team out. This is the place where you can find good options to take advantage of before anyone else in your league does.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 11

Dylan Strome, Washington Capitals

Dylan Strome has taken over the role as the number one center for the Washington Capitals and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon. Most of the points that come from the Capitals come through that top line of Strome, Alex Ovechkin, and Tom Wilson nowadays. This team is a middle-of-the-pack team, but Strome is providing scoring that you can count on in fantasy.

He is up to 12 goals and 18 points in 28 games this season, but a lot of his production has come recently. In just the last six games he has four goals and seven points, including three on the power play and 23 shots. These are all the areas where he will provide fantasy value to your team. If you’re looking for hits, penalty minutes, and a lot of blocks, look elsewhere. Points are harder to come by and it’s not every day that a first-line center is available.

Blake Coleman, Calgary Flames

I wouldn’t say the Calgary Flames have turned their season around, but they are getting contributions from players they didn’t expect. Blake Coleman is among the leaders in that group as he is currently riding a six-game point streak with three goals and eight points. The thing about the Flames is that they change their lines up a good amount, but Coleman always sticks alongside his centerman Mikael Backlund with whom he has great chemistry.

Coleman isn’t known as a point producer. His highest point total in a season was last season with the Flames where he recorded 38 points. He has now scored nine goals and 21 points in 31 games and is on pace to blow by that mark. You can count on a lot more than just points from him too. He will shoot the puck a good amount while adding hits and blocked shots as he’s a defensively-minded player. I don’t expect his points to continue to flow in, but while he’s hot, take advantage and pick him up for your fantasy hockey team.

Dakota Joshua, Vancouver Canucks

On the very productive Vancouver Canucks, an unexpected fantasy performer has come out of nowhere. Dakota Joshua has himself in a third-line role and has played very well recently. He’s known for the physical aspect of the game with penalty minutes and hits, but he has been putting the puck in the back of the net recently and doing everything.

Joshua has seven goals and 12 points in 31 games on the season, but four goals and six points have come in the past seven games. When he’s shooting, it seems like the puck is finding the back of the net. The big winger has also managed at least three hits in six of his past seven games, great for leagues where hits are needed. He is definitely a short-term option, but as his confidence is running high, he’s worth a look if you need the areas he covers in fantasy.

Players that may seem like great waiver wire pickups could fade quickly, while others could turn out to be great for a long time. These three players appear to be the best options in Week 11 of the fantasy hockey season among those who should be available. Take advantage before it is too late and make sure to check in with us next week for more strong options.
