Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Waiver Wire Forwards – 12/26/23

The waiver wire is a great place to find hidden gems that will help your fantasy hockey team in the short term and sometimes the long term as well. You have likely already taken advantage of this through the first 11 weeks of the season. Regardless, there will still be strong options on the waiver wire at forward that we will look at. Even if it is only for a few games, these players are worth adding to help your team out. This is the place where you can find good options to take advantage of before anyone else in your league does.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 12

Morgan Geekie, Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins are a very good team once again, and that comes through contributions throughout the lineup. Morgan Geekie has not disappointed this season as he was one of the cheap players brought in with big shoes to fill. At points, he has played in the top-six, but right now he is the team’s third-line center. With the more ice time he has been getting lately, it has transferred to more offensive production.

The Bruins play three times this week, meaning Geekie will have as good of an opportunity as anyone in the league at producing. Over his past seven games, he has three goals and six points. Along with that, he consistently shoots, hits, and blocks shots. He may not be the biggest prize you’ll find on the waiver wire, but while he’s producing offensively, he can play a nice role on your fantasy hockey team.

Nick Foligno, Chicago Blackhawks

I bet you didn’t expect to see Nick Foligno’s name here, but he has rejuvenated his career somewhat on the Chicago Blackhawks. The team has struggled, that much is clear. But Foligno has been consistent for them all season. With the loss of multiple wingers, the Blackhawks still wanted a veteran presence alongside Connor Bedard. That is exactly what the team is now getting from Foligno.

Anyone playing alongside Bedard is worth a look, and Foligno has played at least 19 minutes in three of the past four games. Over that span, he has scored four goals and five points. He is also a pretty physical player who isn’t afraid to get in front of shots. The amount of ice time and opportunity he’s getting is translating to production all over the ice. As long as this continues, he’s a good option to snag off the waiver wire.

Ivan Barbashev, Vegas Golden Knights

Ivan Barbashev was drafted in most fantasy hockey leagues, but after his slow start offensively, many owners dropped him. He has finally started to pick up his game on the top line with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone. On a powerhouse like the Golden Knights, this line leads the charge in dominating opponents at five-on-five. Barbashev might be the least productive of the trio, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t effective or a good player to add in fantasy.

Barbashev’s season started to turn on Nov. 30. He kicked off a great stretch over the last month and has five goals and 12 points in 12 games. To keep contributing while his offensive game was lacking earlier in the season, Barbashev has made sure to do all of the little things like hit and block shots. For fantasy, this got owners to hold onto him for a little bit longer. Even though his offensive numbers have started to come, he still hits all categories, including penalty minutes and slight production on the power play.
