The waiver wire is a great way to add hidden gems and overlooked players to your fantasy hockey club. This remains true whether you plan to have them as short-term or long-term parts of your fantasy hockey roster. Now that we are three months into the season, we better understand which waiver-wire defensemen are worth snagging. As a result, here are three waiver-wire defensemen worth adding to your roster in Week 14.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Defensemen to Consider for Week 14
Brock Faber, Minnesota Wild
One waiver-wire defenseman that fantasy managers should consider adding is Brock Faber. The young defenseman is having a strong season for the Minnesota Wild, and the truth is seen in his stats. In 38 games thus far, he has two goals, 19 points, and a plus-9 rating. However, what is more encouraging is that his play is only seeming to get better.
In his last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 6, Faber dominated, posting a three-assist night. He is only making a bigger impact as he continues to gain more NHL experience. Due to this, don’t hesitate to scoop him up as a waiver-wire addition if he is still available in your fantasy hockey leagues.
Thomas Harley, Dallas Stars
Thomas Harley is another young defenseman who is having a strong season. The 2019 first-round pick is having a breakout campaign in 2023-24 and keeps getting better. In 35 games on the season, the 22-year-old has nine goals, 19 points, and a plus-10 rating. That is excellent production from the point, and his offense has been going up as of late, too. Because of this, he is a clear waiver-wire defenseman who warrants consideration.
Harley has four points over his last five games and nine points over his 11 contests. Needless to say, he has been heating up significantly and is starting to emerge as a legitimate top-four defenseman. Because of this, if he is available for the taking in your fantasy hockey league, consider bringing him in as a waiver-wire addition. He has been a big positive for the Stars this season and is finally becoming the defenseman they had hoped for when they picked him in the first round.
Gustav Forsling, Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers are the hottest team in the NHL right now, winning seven straight games. They are rapidly climbing in the NHL standings because of it, and one major reason for their success is Gustav Forsling. The skilled defenseman has been on a tear, posting seven points over the Panthers’ seven-game winning streak. Due to this, he is a waiver-wire defenseman to bring in.
Playing for a small-market club, Forsling is sometimes overlooked by fans outside of the Florida area. However, make no mistake about it: he’s an excellent offensive defenseman and is continuing to prove it with his recent play. Due to this, don’t hesitate to add him as a waiver-wire defenseman if he is still available in your league.
Nevertheless, it is clear that the NHL has some excellent waiver-wire defensemen to add in Week 14. It will be fun to see how this trio performs for the remainder of the season from here.
