There is plenty of firepower in this position. The two best outfield prospects might be the best overall prospects in the game. With so much high-end talent and depth, many big names will be left out of the Top 30 Outfield prospects ranking list. Below we’ll take a deep dive into the top 10 and then lay out our Top 30 Outfield Prospects Rankings for 2024 Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Leagues.
Top 10 Outfield Prospects
Jackson Chourio, MIL
(128 GP, .282/.338/.467, 22 HR, 88 R, 91 RBI, 44 SB)
Many times, you will hear this player is a five-tool player and most of the time it is a false statement. When people in the industry say that about Chourio, most are very confident it will be a true statement. He won’t turn 20 until spring training and already has signed an eight-year, $82 million contract. He started the 2023 season slow like many others in Double-A Southern League because of the tacked ball. Once they went back to the normal ball, he went .323/.380/.544 with 11 home runs and only a 14% strikeout rate in 51 games. He has a plus hit and power tool and is a plus-plus runner with his 44 stolen bases this past season.
Wyatt Langford, TEX
(44 GP, .360/.480/.677, 10 HR, 36 R, 30 RBI, 12 SB)
The rich get richer as the defending champions selected Langford 4th overall in the 2023 draft. He led the University of Florida Gators to the College World Series this past season with a stat line of .372/.498/.784. He shows plus hitting and power tools but is a patient hitter as he walked more than struck out in his junior year at Florida than duplicated it in the minors with 38 walks to 34 strikeouts. He has posted 115 MPH exit velocities at college and 110 MPH in the minor leagues. Showing he can also run with 12 stolen bases in 44 games. The Rangers have stated he will be given every opportunity to make the club out of spring training.
Dylan Crews, WAS
(35 GP, .292/.377/.467, 5 HR, 26 R, 29 RBI, 4 SB)
Crews was highly touted coming out of high school, but he decided to go to LSU where he led the Tigers to a National Championship and won the Golden Spikes Award with a stat line of .426/.567/.713 in 2023. The two-time SEC player of the year was drafted second overall by the Nationals. He has the skills to hit for a high average with plus power while showing a strong eye at the plate with 71 walks that led Division 1. He went up three levels in the minors and put up solid numbers in Single-A but struggled at Double-A striking out 19 times in 20 games. We shouldn’t be too concerned with his track record.
Evan Carter, TEX
(108 GP, .288/.413/.450, 13 HR, 79 R, 67 RBI, 26)
In his brief stint in the majors, Carter put up an insane OPS of 1.058 in 62 at-bats. He has an advanced approach and rarely chases balls outside the strike zone. In his three seasons in the minors, he has a career on-base percentage of .410. Even though Carter has hit 110 MPH exit velocity in the minors he has plenty of room to gain strength on his lean frame. The Rangers showed tons of confidence in Carter as he batted third in the lineup during the World Series for the eventual Champions. Carter has above-average speed which should give him 10 -15 steals a season.
Jasson Dominguez, NYY
(118 GP, .265/ .377/.425, 15 HR, 89 R, 76 RBI, 40)
The Martian had an up-and-down season. He started the season at Double-A Somerset and had a very slow start with a batting average of .197 on June 30. Once the temperature started to heat up so did Dominguez, slashing .372/.442/.557 in his next 44 games at Double-A and Triple-A. The Yankees called up Dominguez in early September and he hit a home run in his first Major League at-bat against future Hall of Famer Justin Verlander. He batted third in the line-up in seven out of his eight starts.
Dominguez offers plenty of power and has plus speed on the base paths as evidenced by his 40 stolen bases. Dominguez looks like the next star for the Bronx Bombers, but it will have to wait until mid-season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.
Walker Jenkins, MIN
(26 GP, .362/.417/.571, 3 HR, 16 R, 22 RBI, 6 SB)
The 2023 MLB Draft had tons of high-end talent and any of the top 5 picks could have been selected first overall. The Minnesota Twins were extremely excited that Jenkins fell to them at fifth overall and signed him to a full-slot bonus of 7.14 million dollars. Showing exceptional tools across the board with incredible bat speed and an above-average batting eye, Jenkins did not disappoint in his brief stint to start his professional career. He hit 12 extra base hits and walking 9 times to 14 strikeouts in 105 at-bats. He should be a middle-of-the-order bat for the Twins for many seasons.
James Wood, WAS
(129 GP, .262/.353/.520, 26 HR, 80 R, 91 RBI, 18 SB)
At 6’7, this left-handed masher shows incredible power at the plate with a max exit velocity of 114 MPH and 41 home runs in his first 231 games to start his professional career. He should continue to get stronger being he is only 20 years old. He shows above-average speed, stealing 18 bases this past season and 44 total during his first three minor league seasons. Wood struggled at Double-A with a slash line of .248/.334/.492 and 124 strikeouts in just 87 games. He may be a low-average high-power bat as he continues to face better pitching.
Roman Anthony, BOS
(106 GP, .272/.403/.466, 14 HR, 78 R, 64 RBI, 16 SB)
The Red Sox might have struck gold selecting Anthony 79th overall in the 2022 draft. Coming from South Florida powerhouse Stoneman Douglas High School, Anthony continues to show his big-time tools as he finished the 2023 season at the Double-A level as a 19-year-old. He played in three levels with his numbers getting better after each promotion. During his last 64 games in High-A and Double-A, his slash line was .318/.444/.556, adding 13 home runs with 48 walks against 81 strikeouts. Anthony shows plus power to all fields with a max exit velocity of 110 mph and is still gaining strength. His speed won’t hurt you as he projects to be a 10-15 base stealer a season. It would not surprise me if he were a top 5 prospect in the game after the 2024 minor league season.
Chase DeLauter, CLE
(57 GP, .355/.417/.528, 5 HR, 35 R, 39 RBI, 6 SB)
DeLauter has the tools across the board, playing all three outfield positions. His only knock right now has been trying to stay on the field as he has a long injury history and has had multiple foot surgeries. Considered to be a very disciplined hitter, he showed it in 2023, walking 23 times to 30 strikeouts with just a 20% chase rate, while having 27 extra-base hits in only 214 at-bats. He was healthy at the end of the season during his time at the AFL and showed off his skills slashing .299/.385/.529 with 5 home runs, 14 walks to 11 strikeouts, and led the league with 27 RBIs.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, CHC
(107 GP, .283/.365/.511, 20 HR, 98 R, 82 RBI, 37 SB)
You shouldn’t be scared off by his brief 0-14 debut to the Major Leagues. Defense doesn’t mean much in fantasy baseball, but he will be a human highlight reel at the center field position. As for his bat, he may be the outfield version of his teammate Nico Hoerner. He continues to show more power at the plate, setting a career-high with 53 extra-base hits between Double-A and Triple-A. PCA should be a top of the order hitter with tons of stolen bases and a solid batting average to go along with double-digit home runs.
