Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds: Week 17

My top waiver wire adds for Week 16 featured two new players who lived up to what I had written about them. Scotty Pippen Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies saw his roster percentage increase by 5% in the past week. Although Pippen played in just one game, he delivered a 29.5 fantasy basketball performance with his fourth consecutive double-digit scoring game. Then, Precious Achiuwa found himself in a key role with Julius Randle and OG Onunoby out for the foreseeable future. Achiuwa has had three consecutive games over 30 fantasy points and is still rostered in just 63% of Fantrax leagues, still. Lastly, Aaron Nesmith was the only Waiver Wire add disappointment last week. In his three games last week, Nesmith averaged under his season average of 22 fantasy ppg to just 19.6 fantasy ppg.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds

Gregory Jackson, F – Memphis Grizzlies (53% rostered)

First things first, Gregory Jackson has already seen his roster percentage increase by 13%. Currently, at 53% rostered in all Fantrax leagues. As stated about Scotty Pippen last week, the Grizzlies have been defeated this season. With the countless amount of injuries to this team, it is time for the young guys to make a name for themselves. Last week, it was Scotty Pippen. This week, it is Gregory Jackson. Jackson has averaged 31.92 fantasy ppg the past week, 14.82 ppg higher than his season average. The Grizzlies need scoring from others besides Jaren Jackson Jr. With players such as Marcus Smart, Ja Morant, and Desmond Bane hurt, this is where Jackson comes into play. Jackson, a 2023 45th overall pick, has something to prove and is a must-add in all Fantrax leagues.

Vince Williams, G/F – Memphis Grizzlies (72% rostered)

Overall, just because they are not star players, does not mean they cannot help you win in Fantasy Basketball. It is a fire sale for the Memphis Grizzlies’ players in Fantasy Basketball. Vince Williams is another player on the Grizzlies who has played well as of late. Since January 20th, Williams has seen 29 minutes or more with 34 or more in the past three games. Also, Williams has taken double-digit shots in the past six games. The scoring has to be achieved elsewhere and Williams is making the best of his playing time. Williams has seen double-digit scoring dating back to January 13th. With the decimation of the Grizzlies’ team this season, players like Williams should be rostered in 100% of Fantrax leagues for the rest of the season.

Andre Drummond, C – Chicago Bulls (65% rostered)

The Chicago Bulls have been searching for hope since Michael Jordan stopped playing for them. Then, Derrick Rose came along in 2008, but injuries got the best of him. Since then, the Bulls have tried numerous ideas to win games and found themselves with a “big 3”. Their “big 3” was Zach Lavine (hurt), DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic. In summary, it has not worked out and it has been very underwhelming in Chicago. Andre Drummond comes into this because the Bulls do not have a clue on what to do, they have brought along Andre Drummond for the ride.

While that mess happens, Drummond has found himself a solid role in all of it. Drummond sees under 20 minutes (16.5 minutes) and still has games of 27.75, 24.75, and 21.5 fantasy points. Then, in games he sees over 30 minutes, he has had 41.75 fantasy points and 43 fantasy points. With a 65% rostership in Fantrax leagues, Drummond is a guy who will help you crush your rebound category in category leagues. In H2H leagues, Drummond’s efficiency still makes him a must-add.
