With the trade deadline and All-Star Break pretty far in the rearview mirror, it’s time to check back in with the NBA Fantasy Basketball landscape and find out what stocks are going to rise down the stretch, and what stocks are going to fall. As we near the end of the season, the moves we make now, could win/lose us a fantasy title.
That’s where our NBA Fantasy Basketball Hype Report comes in! Every week, we’ll give you two players you should be buying low on (either via trade or waiver wire), and two players you should be selling high on (dropping, trading, or benching). When it comes to fantasy sports, FantraxHQ will always have your back! Let’s get into this week’s Hype Report.
Fantasy Basketball Buy Low, Sell High
Buy Low
Andre Drummond, Chicago Bulls, C
Andre was recently getting additional minutes as the Bulls decided to go with a bigger lineup while Alex Caruso was out. In that start, he had 17/26(!)/3 blocks. He’s just a force of nature. He doesn’t get in foul trouble, he just goes and gets rebounds, putbacks, and layups. He’s a fantasy beast in your center position if you need depth, or even if you need a starter. In the two games he didn’t start, he had double-digit rebounds in both and exceeded 24 minutes. I think the Bulls have decided giving him minutes alongside Vuc is something that works for them. He’s less than 15% owned, so you can go scoop him off of the waiver wire right now.
Royce O’Neal, Phoenix Suns, SF/PF
He’s only 33% rostered, which is insane considering he’s been a borderline triple-double threat on a nightly basis since he got to Phoenix. The Suns are using him as a Swiss army knife, but have also empowered him to shoot when he’s open. As opposed to just swinging the ball back to Booker, KD, or Beal, as if a shot from those three is always the best option. He’s played 27-33 minutes in his last four games and has had 20+ points in two of those four games. He’s also a great candidate for steals/blocks if you’re in a categories league. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be owned in 70%+ leagues. People have not yet caught on to O’Neal’s role on this team. Get in while you still can.
Sell High
GG Jackson, Memphis Grizzlies, PF
This isn’t really a call on Jackson’s talent. The kid can flat-out put the ball in the hoop. I think when Memphis took him, they thought he’d be a multiple-year project, but he’s ready to contribute right now. The problem is that since JJJ has returned, Jackson has gone from someone who filled out a stat sheet, to someone whose role is only to score. He’s had 5 or less rebounds in four of his last five games. Last week, in two games in which he had 23+ minutes, he had two rebounds and one rebound. He’s only 5% owned, so it might be a stretch to say you’d be selling high, but those who know about Jackson, value Jackson. You can possibly leverage that to fill a different need on your roster because his talent outweighs his fantasy production.
