MLB Injury Report for Thursday, April 11, 2024

Eloy Jiménez – UT Chicago White Sox

Finally, some (potentially) good news for the White Sox, as they believe that Jiménez is healing well. While we’ve seen this before where the team speculates daily, the good news is that his injury likely isn’t as serious as first believed and that he could return shortly. Stay tuned.

Yoan Moncada – 3B Chicago White Sox

A brutal development here for Chicago and Moncada. He struggled to even make it to first base when he injured himself, and this only reveals how serious the injury is. This seemingly keeps him out of action for most, if not all of the season. It could also mark the disappointing end of his tenure as a member of the White Sox.

Danny Jansen – C Toronto Blue Jays

Jansen started at DH and mashed this home run. He finished the game with two hits and four runs batted in. More importantly, he displayed power with his wrist. The plan is for him to start at catcher tomorrow to test things out. He had a similar run last year where his rehab assignment was quite short because he was able to hit well and catch. Keep an eye out because it could be similar this year.

Nathaniel Lowe – 1B Texas Rangers

Lowe has been accelerating through his recovery as of late, and the announcement of a potential rehab assignment is great news. It will likely need to be somewhat long to get his timing down. That said, an early May debut isn’t out of the question here for him.

Matt Brash – RP Seattle Mariners, Gregory Santos – RP Seattle Mariners

Both Brash and Santos have encouraging news here, though both relievers are still without a timetable for an estimated return. That being said, Santos is behind Brash in terms of progression.

Lars Nootbaar – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Be prepared.

Brandon Lowe – 2B Tampa Bay Rays

The word about this news came late on Wednesday night. Lowe missed some time last week with left-side pains and then injured his right side in warmups earlier this week. Both injuries are considered to be unrelated, but also contributing factors to the decision here. As it stands, he will miss some time with this oblique strain, and, even though it’s only a Grade 1 type, the likelihood of him being ready within 10 days is very low. These types of injuries are tricky and vary in nature.

DJ LeMahieu – INF New York Yankees

LeMahieu has been absent all season with a foot injury and has been slowly getting himself into game shape. The fact that he is traveling with the team is a good sign of his potential readiness. That said, a rehab outing seems likely.

Robert Stephenson – RP Los Angeles Angels

Great news here, as Stephenson seems poised to return, beginning with a rehab assignment this weekend. Relief pitchers don’t need as much time as starters, so he very well could be ready close to his re-evaluation time next week, but we will have to wait and see. Until then, keep an eye on how he does in-game.

Chase Silseth – SP Los Angeles Angels

It’s fantastic news here for Silseth which has been backed by a second opinion. Good to see him and the team did their due diligence here to get it done right.

Kodai Senga – SP New York Mets

Senga’s move to the 60-day Injured List is not considered a setback by any means. The team decided that they needed the extra roster spot, and, seeing where he was in his progression, they realized that he wouldn’t be ready. He is still throwing from flat ground and has yet to progress to mound work. With the move here, the earliest that Senga can return is May 27.

Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update

Of note here is Mitchell’s estimated return date is a delay from the original four to six-week timeline. Still, the team is deep enough in his absence which should allow the talented young outfielder enough time to get himself right. As for Williams, his timeline too will be lengthier than the original estimation. Regardless, the team wants to make sure their elite closer is fully ready before returning to the mound.
