The NFL Offseason is a tough one to navigate. With a ton of player movement and injuries and recovery programs to monitor, it can be difficult to keep up with who is doing what, where, and when. Understanding what is happening is the key to success. That’s why the Fantrax Fantasy Football Injury Report is here to make sure you stay on top of the NFL injuries and have all the information you need to dominate your upcoming drafts.
NFL Injuries to Monitor Heading into 2024 Fantasy Football Drafts
Keaton Mitchell, RB, BAL (ACL)
We have placed RB Keaton Mitchell on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) July 15, 2024
Unsurprisingly, Mitchell will begin Training Camp on the PUP List, as hinted previously. There is no timetable for a return, as he could very well be ready for Week One, though the likelihood of that happening is nowhere near where it should be.
Chase Claypool, WR, BUF (toe)
Claypool is looking for a fit on a new team, and any setbacks aren’t helpful. The hope is that this isn’t a long-term issue and he can carve a role for himself.
Ty Johnson, RB, BUF (hamstring)
It’s a hamstring injury for Ty Johnson https://t.co/nJ7d9S7yKi
— Joe Buscaglia (@JoeBuscaglia) July 30, 2024
It is unknown if this is a long-term injury, but any hamstring issues can’t help running backs, especially those trying to become THE running back.
Tommy Tremble, TE, CAR (hamstring)
Canales says Jordan Fuller was out today with a family matter.
Tommy Tremble has dealt with some hamstring tightness, so they tried to limit him to keep it from becoming a bigger problem.
— Darin Gantt (@daringantt) July 25, 2024
Tremble, who is competing for playing time this year, was taken out of practice for precautionary reasons.
Nick Chubb, RB, CLE (ACL, MCL)
"Nick is making sure to make every day count"@NickChubb | #DawgPound pic.twitter.com/PJbCftnm8w
— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) August 2, 2024
Chubb is doing everything he can to stay up to date and in a positive frame of mind, but it’s been reported that he has a lot to do before being ready.
Cleveland Browns – Team Update
#Browns run their first two-minute drills but without Deshaun Watson (rest day), Elijah Moore (walked off with trainer) and Jerry Jeudy (limited with knee). Winston vs second team D finds David Bell for diving TD.
— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) August 2, 2024
Both Jerry Jeudy (knee) and Elijah Moore (concussion) will need to get their reps if they are going to be difference-makers in Cleveland. Jeudy is being integrated slowly back into the mix, while the official diagnosis for Moore is not yet known.
D’Onta Foreman, RB, CLE (neck)
#Browns RB D’Onta Foreman officially is back with team after trip to hospital yesterday. Not on field for practice.
— Scott Petrak ct (@ScottPetrak) August 2, 2024
Foreman was hospitalized on August 1 due to being hit hard in practice. There was no structural damage done and he has returned, but he has yet to practice with the team.
Josh Jacobs, RB, GB (groin)
Packers RB Josh Jacobs wasn't worried about his new "injury" at all. He said it wasn't even an injury, more of a "tweak." Said he would have played if Thursday was a game.
— Zach Kruse (@zachkruse2) August 2, 2024
From the sounds of it, had there been a game, Jacobs would have played and this isn’t something to worry about.
Joe Mixon, RB, HOU (hamstring)
#Texans Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon making steady progress in his recovery from minor quad muscle injury, and he's on track to resume practicing during preseason as his activity continues to ramp up @KPRC2
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) July 31, 2024
The hope is that Mixon is able to play in at least one preseason game and the team expects that to happen.
Justin Watson, WR, KC (foot)
It's good news for Chiefs WR Justin Watson, who is expected to miss only a few days of training camp with a minor foot issue, per source. Looked potentially worse on Wednesday when it happened but Watson should return soon.https://t.co/ovzYlkuNgh
— Matt Derrick (@mattderrick) July 25, 2024
Good news for Watcon and the Chiefs, who could use consistency on the receiver front. Watson will be trying to take a step forward this season.
Justin Herbert, QB, LAC (foot)
Following yesterday’s practice, Justin Herbert was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot.
Doctors have recommended approximately two weeks in a boot — followed by a graduated return to play protocol — with the expectation that he will be ready for the…
— Los Angeles Chargers (@chargers) August 1, 2024
Herbert may miss training camp and all of the preseason, but his Week 1 status is still up in the air. A big blow to the Chargers here.
Tyler Higbee, TE, LAR (ACL, MCL)
Higbee’s return is up in the air, and he shouldn’t be counted on for a full season.
Odell Beckham, WR, MIA (undisclosed)
The #Dolphins are placing WR Odell Beckham Jr. on the active/physically unable to perform list to start training camp, per source.
My understanding is Beckham, 31, is working through minor things and this is part of the plan for easing him back into football. pic.twitter.com/T7MQmfQH52
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) July 23, 2024
While the part about “easing him back” is concerning regarding his fantasy stock, he will be fighting for third-string leverage all year with the Dolphins who have better options in front of him. All that being said, he has the ability to provide WR1 or WR2 upside when healthy on any given week.
T.J. Hockenson, TE, MIN (ACL, MCL)
This was a very interesting article, as it went through how far Hockenson has come in such a short time. That being said, seeing him play in Week 1 would be a very surprising development.
Kendrick Bourne, WR, NEP (ACL)
RB Antonio Gibson has been placed on the active/non-football injury list, while WR Kendrick Bourne, LB Sione Takitaki, C/G Jake Andrews and LG Cole Strange have been placed on the active/physically unable to perform list.
This means they are not yet cleared to practice.
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) July 23, 2024
There were some murmurs about him being available for Week 1, but for now those can be put to rest.
Demario Douglas, WR, NE (hand)
Pop Douglas was in white for the initial part of practice, but as the video shows, he is back in the red non-contact jersey. https://t.co/m5olYaGDJK pic.twitter.com/EBfHaq2zN5
— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 2, 2024
Douglas came out in the white (fully cleared) practice jersey but later changed into the red (non-contact) one during some drills. Regardless of this change, it is believed that he is just about ready to return and should be ready for Week 1.
Kendre Miller, RB, NO (hamstring)
Kendre Miller left today’s practice with a hamstring injury
— Luke Johnson (@ByLukeJohnson) July 24, 2024
Coach Dennis Allen seemed frustrated and disappointed in this development during a press conference when asked, which could mean that Miller’s injury is something that will keep him off the practice field for quite some time.
Darius Slayton, WR, NYG (undisclosed)
Daboll said there are no changes on the injury front except WR Darius Slayton is “tight” and will be backed off. Slayton’s workload was scaled back yesterday, too.
— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) August 2, 2024
It’s been very vague around the Slayton-front, but the belief is that this isn’t anything overly serious.
Mike Williams, WR, NYJ (ACL)
The Jets placed three players on the PUP list (can be activated any time): WR Mike Williams, FB Nick Bawden, DT Leonard Taylor.
Placed on the non-football injury list: QB Jordan Travis and WR Tyler Harrell. #Jets
— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) July 18, 2024
The move was an expected one, and with the ability to be activated at any time, he could be ready for Week One, which has not been ruled out.
Russell Wilson, QB, PIT (calf)

— Andrew Havranek 📺 (@Andrew_Havranek) August 2, 2024
This is an upgrade from when Wilson missed practice. At least here he is throwing a football. That said, it has been said that he will be brought around slowly, so keep that in mind.
Geno Smith, QB, SEA (knee)
Injury update: Testing on Seahawks QB Geno Smith’s knee and hip injuries did not reveal anything significant and, as one source said, “he shouldn’t miss any time.” https://t.co/pbXqRSpig1
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 2, 2024
Good news here, as there was enough concern for Smith’s knee that led to some testing. While there’s no word on when he will return to practice, he should do so soon enough.
Chase Edmonds, RB, TB (undisclosed)
HC Todd Bowles says RB Chase Edmonds is “nursing an injury.”
— Brianna Dix (@briannadixNFL) July 25, 2024
The hope here is that because the team failed to give details on what the injury is and the extent of it, Edmonds will return sooner rather than later.
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, TEN (knee)
As @PaulKuharskyNFL reported, the initial diagnosis is 4 – 6 weeks. The #Titans are optimistic but as of now, best care scenario is Hopkins is ready for the Bears in the season opener. https://t.co/bZdNKZna4q
— TURRON DAVENPORT (@TDavenport_NFL) August 1, 2024
Hopkins suffered a knee injury during practice this past week, and the initial timeline of a return is four-to-six weeks. This puts his Week 1 status in jeopardy, though it would appear he could return shortly after that. Stay tuned.
