The first edition of the 2024/25 dynasty basketball point guard rankings are here. Nine rookies make their debut on this ranking, with two in the top-20. Several players are poised to take their fantasy games to the next level this season. On the flip side, there are a number of key players from last season that will see their dynasty stock drop. Let’s take a closer look at some of the risers and fallers entering this season.
Dynasty Risers
Scoot Henderson, Portland Trail Blazers
Malcolm Brogdon was traded to the Washington Wizards this offseason, giving Henderson the keys to run the offense. He will have some lofty expectations to live up to after being the third overall pick in the 2023 draft. We got a taste of what Henderson is capable of last season. In the final seven games of the season, he averaged 19.4 points, 9.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 three-pointers and 1.1 steals per game. If Henderson can improve his dreadful field goal percentage, he could likely enter the top-10 dynasty basketball point guard rankings.
Keyonte George, Utah Jazz
Rumors have been swirling that Lauri Markkanen will be dealt to the Warriors in a deal involving multiple draft picks. If this were to happen, George and Collin Sexton would be the two offensive focal points for the Jazz. George gave us a glimpse of his fantasy potential last season. He averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers per game in the month of March. The 16th overall draft pick in last years draft is primed to take a big step forward this season. His achilles heel is poor defensive stats and an unpleasant field goal percentage, which are the only things holding him back from being higher on these dynasty basketball point guard rankings.
Dynasty Fallers
Jaden Ivey, Detroit Pistons
Ivey was the fifth overall pick in the 2022 draft. He had a tremendous rookie season, averaging 16.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game. However, in his sophomore season, he regressed in every category. He averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game last year. The Pistons drafted Ron Holland II, whose natural position is small forward, which could push Ausar Thompson to play more shooting guard and absorb more of Ivey’s minutes. The Pistons also signed Tobias Harris this off-season, which could mean less scoring opportunities for Ivey.
Tyus Jones, Phoenix Suns
Jones was just recently signed to a one-year deal by the Phoenix Suns. He goes from being a starter on a bad team, to a back-up on a good team. It will definitely be a big blow to his dynasty value. If the suns get ravaged by injuries, Jones could play a vital role, but when this team is at full strength, he will have minimal value. It is only a one-year contract for Jones, so he could potentially find himself in a better situation after this season. However, for now he has tumbled down the dynasty basketball point guard rankings.
