Mid/Late Round Draft Values in College Fantasy Football

Top College Fantasy Football Values In Rounds 10-16, was part I of my series of articles around draft values in different “pockets”. Today is part II. I will cover some mid/late round values within rounds 17-20 and 21-24 of your college fantasy football drafts. ADP is based on Fantrax ADP. When I mention points per game (ppg), I am assuming a 12-team league that uses 6-point passing TDs and 1 point per reception (PPR).

There’s no such thing as too much football! 2022 is the perfect time to add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!

Mid/Late CFF Draft Values In Rounds 17-20

Quarterback CFF Draft Value

Josh Hoover – TCU (APD: 192.33)

Sneaking into the first part of the 17th round is Josh Hoover. Hoover attempted 30 passes per game in 2023. However, in the final five games of the season, he averaged 43.6 passes per game. Chandler Morris and Hoover both took snaps in 2023. Hoover played in 10 games while Morris only played in 7. Let’s do some loosey-goosey math. If you rolled Morris and Chandler into one quarterback for 2023, he would have had a stat line of 501 pass attempts, 3738 yards passing, 27 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. TCU played 10 games in 2023 so that stat line would have been good for 28.35ppg. Chandler Morris has since transferred to North Texas. If you like loosey-goosey math and scoring fantasy points, draft Josh Hoover. The Goose is Loose!

Wide Receiver CFF Draft Value

Silas Bolden – Texas (APD: 224)

Given the injury to Texas RB, CJ Baxter, Texas may need to rely on the passing game more than they had originally planned. Enter Silas Bolden. Bolden transfers in from Oregon State. In 2023, Bolden led Oregon State in all-purpose yards with 1,319 and was tied for 2nd on the team with 8 total touchdowns. He caught 54 passes for 746 yards and 5 touchdowns. Texas DB, Michael Taaffe, said this of Bolden, “He’s a monster. Do it all. Selfless guy. Whatever he needs to do, whatever the coaches need him to do, he’s going to do it.” With Ja’Tavion Sanders off to the NFL, I can see the middle of the field being where Silas Bolden makes hay in 2024.

Kris Hutson – Washington State (APD: 227.29)

In part I of this series I highlighted Washington State wide receiver, Josh Meredith. Today, I want to highlight Kris Hutson. Over the last 3 years as Offensive Coordinator, Arbuckle’s #2 wide receiver runs from the outside.  The #2 has averaged 72 receptions for 1065 yards and 9 touchdowns. That is good for 5.40 receptions/game and 17.59ppg. Kris Hutson will be manning the outside in 2024 for the Cougars. If you missed out on Josh Meredith, you can grab the cheaper option a few rounds later!

Tight End CFF Draft Value

Keanu Hill – BYU (APD: 225)

From a Washington State Cougar to a Brigham Young Cougar, I like Keanu Hill. Hill will be making the transition from wide receiver to tight end in 2024. In 2023, he had 12 receptions for 187 yards and 1 touchdown. Those numbers are nothing to write home about, but Hill dealt with injuries in 2023. Isaac Rex was the starting tight end last year, and he is off to the NFL. Rex was 2nd on the team in receptions and yardage. He had 34 receptions for 422 yards and 3 touchdowns. There are not many bona fide tight ends options in 2024, so take a shot on Keanu Hill in the 19th round.

Mid/Late CFF Draft Values In Rounds 21-24

Running Back CFF Draft Value

Dylan Carson – Air Force (APD: 252.89)

The Triple Option! Dylan Carson was the 3rd guy in a rotation with Emmanuel Michel and Owen Burk in 2023. Michel and Burk are no longer in this backfield. That leaves Dylan Carson to man this full back roll. Michel had 905 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns in 2023. Burk had 439 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. It could be a MONSTER year for Dylan Carson. While I worry about that offensive line, the upside is hard to deny in the 21st/22nd round.

Wide Receiver CFF Draft Value

Eric McAlister – TCU (APD: 244.17)

It is hard to find that prototypical outside wide receiver nowadays. TCU went out and got one from the portal this offseason. McAlister is 6’3″ and 205 pounds. McAlister is in line to be the wide receiver 1 at TCU. I believe he will be given every opportunity to be the guy for the Horned Frogs. Above I highlighted the TCU quarterback, Josh Hoover. I talked about all the passing coming for the Horned Frogs in 2024. Well, someone has to catch all those bombs! Realistically, I could see McAlister getting 18-22ppg in 2024. Don’t let this value pass you by.

Quarterback CFF Draft Value

Devon Dampier – New Mexico (APD: 275.22)

Devon Dampier will be everything for the Lobos in 2024. The Offensive Coordinator, Jason Beck, has spent many years learning from Robert Anae. Why is that important? Anae’s quarterbacks average: 36 pass attempts, 245 passing yards, and 37 rushing yards per game, which is good for 25.87ppg. Ryan Tomari, Co-Founder of The Pit Press New Mexico, had this to say on the G5 Hive’s Worker Bee Series, “I think I’ve heard Vince Young. I don’t think he is as tall as Vince Young. The accolades and the skills set, I think is probably the first thing that comes to my mind.” Talk about high praise! This offense will depend heavily on how Dampier plays, and for the cost of a 23rd-round pick… count me in!

Those are my favorite seven draft values in the mid/late rounds of your 2024 college football drafts. Similar to part I of this series, there are not many running backs I love in this area. I mentioned in my previous article, the RB “Dead Zone” starts around round 10. We have finished round 24, and there are not a ton of guys I like in this area. I can’t stress this enough, but grab running backs early in your drafts! Then grab all the wide receiver and quarterback value later in your draft.
