IDP Stock Market: Week 2

Football is back!!! With Week 1 in the books, I am here to help you with your IDP portfolios. Each week I will bring you my IDP Stock Market which suggests which players you should be starting or investing in and which ones you should be sitting or liquidating. Nothing is more important than staying ahead of the market and making the right decisions as you embark on your championship quests. No matter what type of IDP format you play, I am here to guide you. Let’s get right into it with three investments and three liquidations that can get your season off on the right foot.

Week 2 IDP Investments

Darrell Taylor, DE, Chicago Bears

If you are looking for help at the defensive end (DE/DL) position, then my first IDP stock market investment Darrell Taylor of the Chicago Bears, is one you should invest in. The Seattle Seahawks traded Taylor to the Bears just before the start of the season and the move paid an immediate return for them and fantasy managers. In his debut for his new team, all Taylor did was fill up the box score with eight tackles, seven solos, an 87.5% solo rate two TFLs, two sacks, and one forced fumble. Will this output continue? I believe so, as opposing offenses are focused on blocking Montez Sweat and their linebacking core as top priorities. With that should come a high volume of playmaking opportunities for Taylor. If he can keep that tackle number above five and with his ability to rush the passer, he’s going to be a waiver wire steal. The time to invest in Taylor is now before everyone starts taking notice of his potential return value.

Zack Baun, OLB, Philadelphia Eagles

My next IDP stock market investment, OLB Zack Baun of the Philadelphia Eagles, will likely be this week’s biggest IDP waiver adds. With all the defensive talent that the Eagles have on their roster and four less-than-desirable seasons for Baun in New Orleans, I’m not sure anyone saw this output explosion coming. In his first game with Philly as their starting outside linebacker, Baun put on an absolute show versus Green Bay in week 1. Baun had one of the best performances of the week with 15 total tackles, 11 solo stops, one TFL, two sacks, and two QB hits. That’s a 30+ fantasy point that will have fantasy managers checking their waiver wires and chasing any possible trade opportunities. I get the appeal of the insanely high tackle numbers but don’t expect that every week. The demand for shares of Baun’s stock is gonna go quickly and the price to invest will as well.

Riley Moss, CB, Denver Broncos

I typically don’t suggest many cornerbacks for my IDP stock market investments as most fantasy managers stream the position. But if you play in position-specific leagues Riley Moss of the Denver Broncos is an investment you should be making for your IDP portfolios. All offseason I heard the praise coming out of Denver for Moss and after last week’s performance you can see why. This past weekend Moss recorded 12 total tackles, eight solo stops, and one TFL for a 29 fantasy point week. There is a lot to like about Moss, such as him playing opposite of shutdown corner Patrick Surtain II and his willingness to play aggressively against the run. I have been a huge fan of Moss since his days back at Iowa where he was among the nation’s best at the position. The Broncos will host the Pittsburgh Steelers this week and I expect Moss to have a good game versus a team that likes to run and has QB concerns to fix. Make your investment in Moss now while the cost is still low.

Week 2 IDP Liquidations

Payton Turner, DE, New Orleans

My first IDP stock market liquidation is defensive end (DE) Peyton Turner of the Washington Commanders. If you have been patiently waiting for Turner to break out, your loyalty is to be commended, but it is time to liquidate any shares of him from your IDP portfolios. Turner only played 22 defensive snaps (37%) last week and his only stat was one PBU. He’s entering year four of his career and there is a lot of inactive or DNP on his sheet. Turner has only played in 16 out of 52 games so far and only has 29 tackles and three sacks on record.  Between his unavailability and lack of production after four years, it just isn’t enough for me to hold onto any of his shares. Use that roster space for a stock with more upside.

Ivan Pace Jr, LB, Minnesota Vikings

My next IDP stock market liquidation for week 1 is inside linebacker (ILB) Ivan Pace Jr. of the Minnesota Vikings. This is not a complete liquidation for me on Pace, but with the recent game, I am looking at any possibilities to move Pace in a trade. We discovered late in the week from Pace himself that Blake Cashman would wear the green dot for the Vikings and not Pace. Pace played just over half of the defensive snaps (39 snaps/55%) last week versus the Giants. If this trend continues it has me cautious at the least. You also have to consider that the Vikings have been playing a three-safety set as well. Taking all of that into account, I am looking to see what the trade value for Pace is and if it’s worth moving him in a deal. Again maybe this is just a one-week aberration, so I’m not rushing to dump my shares of him, but open to the idea of moving him. If a linebacker-needy team makes a decent offer that can help my team overall, I may just pull the trigger.

Chad Muma, LB, Jacksonville Jaguars

My final IDP stock market liquidation for week 1 is linebacker (LB) Chad Muma of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Muma is entering year three and things just haven’t gone the way everyone had hoped. We have seen his defensive snap count drop from an already unimpressive 26% down to a 14% share in week 1. His special teams snaps continue to be in the 60-65% range and that’s basically his value, is on special teams. While I had high hopes for Muma maybe getting a little bigger role or maybe even being traded to another team that would give him a better opportunity, it just hasn’t happened. You could stash him on your taxi squad, if eligible, but even then I am ready to move on to a player with more upside. Muma’s stock isn’t helping my team and his trade value is minimal at best, so now is the time to liquidate any shares of him you may have.
