NASCAR DFS: Go Bowling at The Glen Picks

The NASCAR Cup Series rolls through Watkins Glen for some road course racing on Sunday. This is the second race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Last week at Atlanta, the playoff standings saw quite the shakeup. Atlanta is a slightly higher variance track, so it was a good day for several drivers needing points. And now we have a road course which caters to the strengths of certain drivers. We previewed a handful of drivers earlier this week. Definitely reference that article as we dissect the practice and qualifying results to build out our NASCAR DFS lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. Here are the latest NASCAR DFS Go Bowling at The Glen picks for Sunday afternoon’s action from New York!

Go Bowling at The Glen Picks: The Top 10

  1. Ross Chastain (#1 Trackhouse Racing)
  2. Martin Truex Jr. (#19 Joe Gibbs Racing)
  3. Shane Van Gisbergen (#16 Kaulig Racing)
  4. Alex Bowman (#48 Hendrick Motorsports)
  5. Austin Cindric (#2 Team Penske)
  6. J. Allmendinger (#13 Kaulig Racing)
  7. Joey Logano (#22 Team Penske)
  8. Daniel Suarez (#99 Trackhouse Racing)
  9. Noah Gragson (#10 Stewart-Haas Racing)
  10. Michael McDowell (#34 Front Row Motorsports)

The interesting thing about Watkins Glen is that we typically see a lot of win equity come from drivers starting in the top 10. In fact, seven of these drivers have won on road courses in their Cup Series career. Most weeks, we count Kaulig Racing out. But this week both SVG and Allmendinger qualified very well. Both drivers also ran Saturday’s Xfinity Series race. But considering this is a road course, we probably shouldn’t be starting too many drivers in the top 10. Some of my builds will be built with one or two. I will cap it at three. Dominator points matter less here, especially on FanDuel. Get one or two of these drivers into your build if you’re confident they can win or finish well. Otherwise, we’re looking at PD from drivers starting deeper in the field.

Which Value-Priced Go Bowling at The Glen Picks Got A Points Movement Bump?

DraftKings

  • Ryan Blaney – $7,400; Starting P30
  • Brad Keselowski – $7,000; Starting P28
  • Todd Gilliland – $6,800; Starting P37
  • Bubba Wallace – $6,600; Starting P32
  • Justin Haley – $6,300; Starting P36
  • Carson Hocevar- $6,200; Starting P29
  • John Hunter Nemechek – $5,500; Starting P35

FanDuel

  • Chris Buescher – $8,500; Starting P24
  • Denny Hamlin – $8,200; Starting P22
  • Ryan Blaney – $7,200; Starting P30
  • Juan Pablo Montoya – $6,500; Starting P34
  • Todd Gilliland – $5,800; Starting P37
  • Brad Keselowski – $5,500; Starting P28
  • Carson Hocevar – $5,000; Starting P29
  • Justin Haley – $4,500; Starting P36
  • John Hunter Nemechek – $3,200; Starting P35

This is one of those weeks I genuinely hate FanDuel’s pricing. Position differential will weigh heavy here and they’ve effectively priced way too many drivers down. In this list I’ve included some drivers I really like to move up. But not all of them are guys that really thrive on road courses. Ryan Blaney does have a win at the Roval on his resume, but overall, he struggles on this type of track. Bubba Wallace has made it known many times he’s awful on road courses. Even Brad Keselowski isn’t the greatest. But some of them are just in equipment that’s too good to pass up for this weekend. Todd Gilliland is arguably a lock for cash games. He has top 20 potential and is affordable on all formats. Be sure to balance your exposure with these plays. Some of them are surely due to bust.

Which Higher Priced Drivers Got A Similar Bump?

  • Kyle Larson – Starting P20
  • Chase Elliott – Starting P14
  • Tyler Reddick – Starting P16
  • Christopher Bell – Starting P17

For what it’s worth, Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher, and Juan Pablo Montoya all start outside the top 20 and are mid-range plays on DraftKings. I like them just fine, but the four drivers above are truly “higher priced” drivers in this race. Three of these drivers appeared in our “Top Plays” section of this week’s preview. Larson won Sonoma earlier this year. Reddick has three road course wins in the NextGen era. Bell has had some good results on these tracks. And Chase Elliott was regarded as the best road course driver in the Cup Series prior to the NextGen car. So, there’s plenty of win equity. Most Watkins Glen races are won by drivers starting in the top eight. Despite starting further back, you can make an argument for these four drivers. You have to imagine these four Go Bowling at The Glen picks carry heavy ownership.

Go Bowling at The Glen Picks

DraftKings

  • Kyle Larson – $10,500; Starting P20
  • Tyler Reddick – $9,500; Starting P16
  • Christopher Bell – $9,300; Starting P17
  • Ryan Blaney – $7,400; Starting P30
  • Todd Gilliland – $6,800; Starting P37
  • Justin Haley – $6,300; Starting P36

I’m playing this lineup on DraftKings on Sunday. It’s chalky, for sure. Easy to be duplicated. But even the most duplicated lineup can win a tournament. Sure, you split the top prize. But I’m also playing a few variations of this build with plenty of pivots. There could very well be negative correlation between Larson, Reddick, and Bell. But at the end of the day if they move up and all finish in the top five, then they’re scoring well. We punt with some affordable drivers like Blaney, Gilliland, and Haley. But again, there are plenty of pivots to make with this build. This build, or something very similar to it, will likely be the most played cash game lineup utilizing our Go Bowling at The Glen picks.

FanDuel

  • Kyle Larson – $13,500; Starting P20
  • Tyler Reddick – $14,000; Starting P16
  • Chris Buescher – $8,500; Starting P24
  • Denny Hamlin – $8,200; Starting P22
  • Todd Gilliland – $5,800; Starting P37

Similar to the DraftKings build, we utilize the Go Bowling at The Glen picks to produce another popular build. There are only 90 laps for this race. On FanDuel, laps led are worth 0.1 points. That means there are just nine dominator points available on FanDuel. That is why we’re going so heavy on PD. And again, this will be a popular build in cash games and tournaments. And once again, I’ll be building variations of this build with plenty of pivots. We target win equity with Larson and Reddick. Buescher and Hamlin are good enough to move up and finish top 10. And lastly, Gilliland can crush value with a top 20 finish. Play around with this one and generate your own version if you see fit!

White Flag Thoughts Before You Go

Another week where we see the payouts diminish. But alas, the thought process with building our lineups is locked in. Laps led and fastest laps are still a nice bonus on DraftKings. There are 63 dominator points available through that provider. On FanDuel, we have just nine. Overall, lineup theory comes down to position differential and finishing well while having the winner in your lineup. Best of luck with this weekend’s Go Bowling at The Glen picks! I hope to see you all in victory lane!
