Must Know Fantasy Football Notes from Week 3

Every week following an NFL slate of games, I dig through every team and note what happened. Usage and production notes are very important to note each week as they can have Fantasy Football implications for the following week and sometimes for the rest of the season. As Fantasy Football managers, we often focus on how our specific players score and often miss the finer details. I do the dirty work here and give you everything you need to know in one spot which I believe can give you an edge in your Fantasy Football leagues. I hope this becomes your go-to article every week as a one-stop shop for everything you need to know after a week of games and that you enjoy reading this piece every Tuesday. Let’s get it –

Must Know Fantasy Football Notes from Week 3

Arizona Cardinals

  • After a monster Week 2 for Fantasy Football with 29 Fantasy Points, first-round rookie Marvin Harrison Jr scores 17.4 points in Week 3. MHJ earned a season-high 11 targets and caught five of them for 64 yards and a touchdown. MHJ has now scored three touchdowns across the last two weeks and looks like a future elite in the NFL with that future being as soon as now.
  • Michael Wilson had a FLEX-worthy week scoring 14.4 Fantasy Points. Wilson caught eight of nine targets for 64 yards after earning just four total targets the first two weeks combined.
  • Trey McBride left the game to be evaluated for a concussion, which we need to monitor for his Week 4 availability.

Atlanta Falcons

  • After an encouraging Week 2 in terms of targets, touchdown scoring, and Fantasy Points Drake London again hit those categories in Week 3. London caught six of his nine targets for 67 yards and a touchdown for 18.7 Fantasy Points. Season-high numbers across the board. This is very encouraging for a guy who has had so much promise but has been held back in the past due to quarterback play and coaching.
  • After finishing with 88 yards and a touchdown in Week 2, Darnell Mooney followed up that performance catching eight passes for 66 yards in Week 3. Mooney has earned 15 targets across the last two weeks with Fantasy scores of 17.8/14.6 which proves he is a solid FLEX option moving forward.
  • Bijan Robinson scored his first rushing touchdown of the season in a game he only produced 52 scrimmage yards. Bijan averaged 1.9 yards per carry in Week 3 after averaging 6.9 the prior game.

Baltimore Ravens

  • We knew Derrick Henry was going to have touchdown upside as a Raven, and four rushing touchdowns through three weeks confirm this. King Henry rushed for two scores in Week 3 but what was most encouraging was his massive 151 rushing yard total. Off-season talk indicated that he is slowing down but Henry looked a lot younger than 30 years old in Week 3. Season-high 30.4 Fantasy Points.
  • Lamar Jackson scored 25.98 Fantasy Points which was the second time through three games he has scored 25ish points. Jackson only threw the ball 15 times and completed 12 of them for 182 yards and a touchdown. Lamar rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown as well. 254 rushing yards through three weeks is pacing 1,000+ yards on the ground.

Carolina Panthers

  • Andy Dalton threw 26/37 (70.3%) for 319 yards and three touchdowns which meant 24.56 Fantasy Points. Not only did Dalton elevate the Panthers offense through the air, he also made a Fantasy Football statement which could mean being a quarterback streamer in future weeks.
  • Diontae Johnson was the biggest beneficiary of Dalton elevating this offense. Johnson caught eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets for 26.2 Fantasy Points. To put Week 3 in perspective, if you were to combine Weeks 1 and Week 2 Johnson would have five receptions, 12 targets, 34 receiving yards, zero touchdowns, and 8.4 Fantasy Points.
  • Chuba Hubbard rushed 21 times for 114 yards and caught five passes for 55 yards with a receiving touchdown. 27.9 Fantasy Points for Week 3 was a huge difference maker in lineups.
  • Adam Thielen caught three of his five targets for 40 yards and a touchdown but ended up suffering a hamstring injury. If Thielen misses time this could mean a target boost for sophomore Jonathan Mingo or rookie Xavier Legette.

Chicago Bears

  • Caleb Williams threw for 93 yards then 174 yards with no passing touchdowns through his first two NFL appearances but took a step forward in Week 3. The 2024 first-overall pick threw 33/52 (63.5%) for 363 yards, two passing touchdowns, two interceptions, and scored 17.32 Fantasy Points. A fumble and those interceptions impacted what could have been a solid Fantasy week so hopefully this was a sign of passing upside to come.
  • Cole Kmet caught 10 of his 11 targets for 97 yards and scored 25.7 Fantasy Points. The real eyebrow raise is for rookie Rome Odunze catching six of his 11 targets for 112 yards and a touchdown for 23.4 Fantasy Points. Kmet could end up being the intermediate outlet for Caleb, but this connection to Rome could have huge implications moving forward rookie to rookie.
  • Roschon Johnson finished with 12 touches and more yardage than D’Andre Swift who finished with 15 touches. With Fantasy Football scores of 5.0, 8.2, and 6.2 it is clear that Swift cannot be trusted right now for Fantasy Football. Especially with two weeks in a row rushing for 1.3 then 1.5 yards per carry.

Cleveland Browns

  • Amari Cooper has earned solid targets this season but was a Fantasy disappointment but that changed in Week 3. Cooper caught seven of his 12 targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns. 27.6 Fantasy Points scored. Sometimes with solid targets, the production needs patience. Cooper did suffer an undisclosed injury that needs monitoring.
  • Deshaun Watson has climbed from 10.66 to 15.44 to 16.44 Fantasy Points through three weeks. Watson threw for a season-high 196 yards and a season-high two passing touchdowns but fumbled twice.
  • After being out-touched by D’Onta Foreman in Week 2, Jerome Ford out-touched him this time with carries 10 to two. Ford rushed for 37 yards and also caught three balls for 33 yards.

Dallas Cowboys

  • Huge Dak Prescott week throwing 28/51 (54.9%) for 379 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown for 29.86 Fantasy Points. After scoring under 13 points the first two weeks this is a clear bounce-back Fantasy Football performance.
  • After missing Week 2 with an injury, Jake Ferguson returned to solid production catching six of his 11 targets for 95 yards which meant 15.5 Fantasy Points. Ferguson should continue to be the second target for Prescott rest of the season.
  • KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Tolbert both scored a touchdown and 13+ Fantasy Points while CeeDee Lamb had a quiet 8.7-point outing.
  • Rico Dowdle finished with 11 touches, Ezekiel Elliott finished with four touches, and Deuce Vaughn had three touches. No Dallas running back has scored 10 Fantasy Points in the last two weeks.

Denver Broncos

  • Rookie Bo Nix scored under 12 Fantasy Points in his first two NFL appearances but scored 19.34 in Week 3. Nix threw 25/36 (69.4%) for 216 yards and rushed nine times for 47 yards and a touchdown.
  • Courtland Sutton opened up his first two games of the year scoring under eight Fantasy Points but scored 13.8 in Week 3. Sutton caught seven of his 11 targets for 68 yards. Sutton has had two games earning 12 and 11 targets this season which at least shows a solid target possibility weekly.
  • Jaleel McLaughlin finished with six touches with one of them resulting in a rushing touchdown. Tyler Badie rushed nine times for 70 yards which was a solid 7.8 yards per rush. Javonte Williams finished with nine touches with the only positive being him catching four passes after catching five the week prior. Murky and not productive here.

Detroit Lions

  • David Montgomery has now rushed for a touchdown in three straight games. Monty rushed 23 times for 105 yards which were both season-highs and caught three passes. Monty has scored 16.3, 17.0, and 21.2 Fantasy Points through three weeks.
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown has scored 20+ Fantasy Points two weeks in a row. ARSB caught seven of his eight targets for 75 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season for 20.5 points.
  • Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 16 times for 83 yards and scored a touchdown on a lateral from St. Brown for 16.3 Fantasy Points. Gibbs has scored 16+ Fantasy Points in all three weeks this season.
  • Sam LaPorta suffered an ankle sprain that we will need to monitor. After finishing as the TE1 for Fantasy Football as a rookie last season, LaPorta has scored under nine Fantasy Points for three straight weeks.

Green Bay Packers

  • Malik Willis had his revenge game in Week 3 against his former Titans team. Willis threw 13/19 (68.4%) for 202 yards and a touchdown paired with 73 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. 25.98 Fantasy Points.
  • Emmanuel Wilson rushed 12 times for 50 yards and caught two balls for 35 yards with a receiving touchdown. 16.5 Fantasy Points pops as a potential waiver add as a handcuff. Josh Jacobs rushed 14 times for 43 yards and caught a pass for five yards in a down Fantasy week.
  • Jayden Reed was the only pass-catcher to reach double-digit Fantasy Points (10.9) in Week 3 which is understandable with just 13 completed passes. Reed caught four passes for 50 yards and rushed twice for 19 yards. Reed now has 89 rushing yards on the year as the Packers’ “Deebo”.

Houston Texans

  • Stefon Diggs was the standout of the day catching 10 of his 12 targets for 94 yards for 19.92 Fantasy Points. Season-highs in targets, receptions, and receiving yards could be a positive sign of a building connection to his new quarterback.
  • Nico Collins caught four of his 10 targets for 86 yards and scored 12.6 Fantasy Points. Back-to-back games for Collins with 10 targets. Tank Dell caught five of his six targets for 62 yards which was his most productive day through the air and for Fantasy (11.2 points).
  • CJ Stroud threw 20/31 (64.5%) for 215 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Stroud has not shown the true upside he did last season, especially for Fantasy Football, but I still have plenty of faith.

Indianapolis Colts

  • Jonathan Taylor had his first huge game of the season rushing 23 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns for 26.5 Fantasy Points. Taylor has now rushed for over 100 yards in back-to-back weeks.
  • Anthony Richardson has scored under 10 Fantasy Points and tossed five total interceptions across the last two weeks. Richardson has also finished completing 50% of his passes in back-to-back games. 27 completions total across the last two weeks has greatly impacted the ceiling of his pass-catchers. I would not be comfortable playing any wide receiver on the Colts.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Rashee Rice continued his solid sophomore campaign catching 12 of his 14 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown for 29.1 Fantasy Points. Rice has finished two of his three games with over 100 receiving yards and scored touchdowns in back-to-back weeks. This is clearly the #1 target in the offense.
  • Patrick Mahomes threw 26/39 (66.7%) for 217 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. 16.38 Fantasy Points was his best 2024 score to date, which is disappointing. Not as disappointing though as Travis Kelce who also scored a season-high in Fantasy Points in Week 3…with seven.
  • Carson Steele out-touched Samaje Perine 19 to 10. Steele rushed 17 times for 72 yards and caught a pass for two.

Los Angeles Chargers

  • Quentin Johnston scored yet another touchdown after scoring two the week prior. Johnston only earned two targets and has yet to have a solid yardage day so that is what you may be chasing.
  • Justin Herbert is an injury worth monitoring, with him re-aggravating the ankle he has been having trouble with. X-rays came back negative for Herbert but monitor him this week.
  • JK Dobbins cooled off but it is important to note he finished with 18 touches to Gus Edwards’ three which could mean less of a committee approach. Edwards finished with 18 touches the game prior.

Los Angeles Rams

  • Kyren Williams showed us his 2023 self, scoring 31.6 Fantasy Points. 24 rushing attempts for 89 yards and two touchdowns along with two receptions for 27 yards and another touchdown. Season-highs in rushing attempts, rushing yards, touchdowns scored, and Fantasy Points.
  • With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua both out, it was Tutu Atwell who was the Fantasy Football standout from the wide receivers. Atwell caught four of five targets for 93 yards and scored 13.3 Fantasy Points. Jordan Whittington was targeted three times, tight end Colby Parkinson was targeted five times, Tyler Johnson was targeted four times, and Demarcus Robinson was targeted four times.

Las Vegas Raiders

  • Tre Tucker caught seven of nine targets for 96 yards and a touchdown for 22.6 Fantasy Points. Huge day for the sophomore after earning just five targets the two games prior. The field-stretcher caught a 54-yard pass for a good chunk of that yardage.
  • Jakobi Meyers started the season with two weeks under 10 Fantasy Points but then scored 21.2 Fantasy Points in Week 3. Meyers caught seven of his nine targets for 62 yards and a touchdown.
  • Davante Adams caught four of his nine targets for 40 yards. Brock Bowers caught three of his four targets for 41 yards. Both players scored under nine Fantasy Points as the above two surprises took their place in relevance.
  • Zamir White had a great matchup on paper but rushed just 10 times for 34 yards. Alexander Mattison rushed three times for seven yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 37 yards which meant 13.4 Fantasy Points. I faded White in pre-season and seeing as though he has yet to score seven Fantasy Points that looks spot on.

Miami Dolphins

  • With Skylar Thompson starting in place of an injured Tua Tagovailoa the Dolphins offense did absolutely nothing and lost to the Seahawks 24-3. No Dolphin scored nine Fantasy Points. Thompson also suffered some sort of chest injury to monitor.

Minnesota Vikings

  • Aaron Jones opened up 2024 with a solid Fantasy week (18.9 points) followed by a poor week (9.8 points) then exploded for 25.8 Fantasy Points in Week 3. Jones rushed 19 times for 103 yards and caught five passes for 46 yards and a receiving touchdown. The veteran has finished games with 94/102 yards which shows upside on the ground but also has back-to-back games with five receptions which shows that Packers dual-threat ability.
  • Sam Darnold threw 17/28 (60.7%) for 181 yards and four passing touchdowns for 23.24 Fantasy Points. Darnold now has thrown eight touchdowns across three games and looks like a quarterback streamer for Fantasy Football as a 3-0 starter. Darnold suffered a bone bruise to his knee and is not expected to miss any time.
  • Justin Jefferson scored over 20 Fantasy Points for the second week in a row which shows everyone that fading him because of Darnold was a mistake. Jefferson caught six of eight targets for 81 yards and scored his third-straight touchdown of the season.
  • Speaking of touchdowns, Jalen Nailor has scored in every game this season. Eight targets across the last two games with back-to-back weeks scoring double-digit Fantasy Points.

New England Patriots

  • Demario Douglas was the only bright spot of the Patriots catching seven of his nine targets for 69 yards and rushing once for nine yards. 14.8 Fantasy Points after scoring 3.2 and 0.0 the opening two weeks.
  • Antonio Gibson rushed five times for 29 yards and caught three passes for eight yards. Rhamondre Stevenson had a nightmare rushing six times for 23 yards which only meant 0.3 Fantasy Points.
  • Despite Jacoby Brissett throwing for just 98 yards in this one and rookie Drake Maye getting some reps Head Coach Jerod Mayo said the veteran will remain the starter.

New Orleans Saints

  • Chris Olave came to life in Week 3 catching all six targets for 86 yards and a touchdown for 20.6 Fantasy Points. Olave has finished with over 80 receiving yards in back-to-back weeks with six targets in each of those games.
  • Alvin Kamara rushed 26 times for 87 yards and caught three passes for 40 yards. So far this season Kamara has scored 22, 44, and 15.7 Fantasy Points as one of the most productive backs to roster.
  • After starting on fire the opening two weeks, Derek Carr cooled off throwing 14/25 (56%) for 142 yards paired with a touchdown and an interception (7.98 points).

New York Giants

  • After the explosive 28.7 Fantasy Point Week 2, Malik Nabers nearly matched that with 28.2 Fantasy Points in Week 3. Nabers caught eight of 12 targets for 78 yards and scored two touchdowns. Nabers has scored three touchdowns across the last two weeks and has been targeted 30 times during this span. Huge implications for the rest of the season and even bigger ones for Dynasty.
  • Daniel Jones threw 24/34 (70.6%) for 236 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and rushed eight times for 20 yards which was 19.44 Fantasy Points. Dimes scored 18.32 Fantasy Points last week and has now thrown two passing touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.
  • Devin Singletary had his most productive day of the season rushing 16 times for 65 yards and a touchdown while also catching four passes for 43 yards which meant 18.8 Fantasy Points. Singletary scored 14.5 Fantasy Points last week so that is two weeks in a row scoring as a decent RB2.
  • Wan’Dale Robinson caught seven of his eight targets for 61 yards for 13.1 Fantasy Points. Wan’Dale was targeted 12 times in Week 1, scored a touchdown in Week 2, and hit his season high in Fantasy Points Week 3. FLEX value.

New York Jets

  • We saw some vintage Aaron Rodgers in Week 3 as he threw 27/35 (77.1%) for 281 passing yards, two touchdowns, and rushed for 18 yards for 21.04 Fantasy Points. Rodgers looks like he is settling into some form here.
  • Breece Hall rushed 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 29 yards. Hall has now scored 18.3, 24.4, and 18.3 Fantasy Points through three weeks.
  • Rookie Braelon Allen scored a rushing and a receiving touchdown in Week 2 which may have earned him some more work in Week 3. Allen rushed 11 times for 55 yards (5 yards per carry) and caught three passes for 13 yards. Allen looks like a top handcuff to roster for Fantasy Football who may have some stand-alone value.
  • Garrett Wilson scored 14.3 Fantasy Points which was his best score so far of the year. Wilson caught five of his nine targets for just 33 yards but a touchdown. The touchdown is encouraging, and the nine targets are encouraging, but the overall Fantasy production and yardage this season have not been. Wilson averaged 61.3 receiving yards per game last season with mediocre quarterback play but has yet to hit his average this season with Rodgers.
  • Tyler Conklin caught five of his six targets for 93 receiving yards for 14.3 Fantasy Points. Conklin was only targeted a total of four times the previous two weeks, so if Week 3 is a sign for more things to come he could be a streaming tight end.

Philadelphia Eagles

  • Saquon Barkley continues his monster tear as an Eagle with a 33.6 Fantasy Point week. Barkley has opened up 2024 in his new home with 33.2, 17.6, and 33.6 Fantasy Points. Barkley rushed 17 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns and caught four passes in Week 3. I believe he is the best running back to roster this season.
  • Dallas Goedert had a monster game catching 10 of his 11 targets for 170 yards for 27 Fantasy Points. Goedert was targeted nine times in total prior to Week 3. With AJ Brown out, Goedert could continue to be a solid play with volume.
  • DeVonta Smith suffered a concussion in the early fourth quarter after catching seven of his 10 targets for 79 yards for 14.9 Fantasy Points. A nearly identical stat line minus a touchdown from Week 2. Keep an eye on Jahan Dotson, who could rise to the occasion with DVS and AJB both potentially out for Week 4.

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Justin Fields is now 3-0 as a Steeler and had his best Fantasy week so far this season. Fields threw 25/32 (78.1%) for 245 yards, a passing touchdown, an interception, and rushed for a touchdown for 18.4 Fantasy Points. Season-highs in all of passing attempts, completions, completion percentage, passing yards, and his first rushing touchdown.
  • Calvin Austin III caught four of his five targets for 95 yards and a touchdown for 19.5 Fantasy Points. Austin was targeted just four times in total the previous two weeks and rose to the occasion with Fields throwing more.
  • Najee Harris sustained some sort of injury to his right arm/elbow and has been seen wearing a sling. An injury to monitor. Harrisa rushed 18 times for 70 yards and caught five passes for 13.6 Fantasy Points. Cordarrelle Patterson out-touched Jaylen Warren seven to four which could mean something if Harris is indeed injured.

Seattle Seahawks

  • Zach Charbonnet followed up his Week 2 Fantasy score of 17.9 with 25.7 Fantasy Points in Week 3 in place of an injured Kenneth Walker III. Charbonnet rushed 18 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes. I am wondering if when KWIII comes back, Charbs will stay involved.
  • After scoring 28.9 Fantasy Points in Week 2, DK Metcalf scored 20.4 Fantasy Points in Week 3. DK caught four of his six targets for 104 receiving yards and a touchdown. Back-to-back games with over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown scored for Metcalf is a great sign.
  • Geno Smith cooled off after a solid two weeks due to tossing two interceptions. Geno threw 26/34 (76.5%) for 289 yards and a touchdown but the turnovers hurt. Smith has been displaying upside through the air for yardage the last two weeks.

San Fransisco 49ers

  • Brock Purdy threw 22/30 (73.3%) for 292 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, fumbled, rushed 10 times for 41 yards, and scored a solid 25.78 Fantasy Points. After tossing 319 yards last week, throwing the touchdowns this week, and rushing shows some more upside that could all come together.
  • Jauan Jennings caught 11 of his 12 targets for 175 yards and three touchdowns as the biggest shocker of the weekend. 46.5 Fantasy Points won some deep league matchups, or some dart throw FLEX play lineups in Week 3. With Deebo Samuel and Geroge Kittle out Jennings went miles beyond just stepping up into a role. Jennings will likely be the most added waiver wire player this coming week.
  • Brandon Aiyuk has yet to score 10 Fantasy Points. Encouraging was the 10 targets in Week 3 but not encouraging is the lack of production with Deebo and Kittle out.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Chris Godwin has been the hottest wide receiver for Fantasy Football through two weeks and scored a solid 17.3 FAntasy Points in Week 3. Godwin caught six of his nine targets for 53 yards and a touchdown and has scored in every game this season. Nine targets was actually a season-high after being targeted eight times a week the two games prior.
  • Bucky Irving rushed nine times for 70 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards. Rachaad White rushed six times for 17 yards and caught five passes for 18 yards. 12 touches to 11 in favor of the rookie, along with coach-speak that Irving will be involved means Irving needs to be off of waivers and that there is a concern for White.
  • Cade Otton opened up 2024 quiet after having a solid 2023 NFL Playoffs but caught seven of his eight targets for 47 yards this week. Mike Evans caught just two of his three targets for 17 yards and has now scored under eight Fantasy Points in back-to-back weeks.

Tennessee Titans

  • After scoring under two Fantasy Points in the opening two games, DeAndre Hopkins rose from the dead to score 19.3 Fantasy Points. DHop caught six of his seven targets for 73 receiving yards and a touchdown for 19.3 Fantasy Points.
  • Will Levis threw 26/34 (76.5%) for 260 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, two interceptions, a fumble, and rushed for 12 yards for 13.6 Fantasy Points. If you take away the interceptions and fumble the scoring could have been something here.
  • Tyjae Spears’ scoring was boosted by four catches for 54 yards, which marks the second time this season he has caught four balls in a game. Tony Pollard cooled off due to game script and efficiency rushing six times for 14 yards and catching three passes for 15.
