Week 6 Quarterback and Running Back Starts and Sits

Starts and sits treated us very well in Week 5. Here are the players from last week’s article and where they finished. Trevor Lawrence was the QB10, Kirk Cousins finished as the QB1, D’Andre Swift was the RB2, and Javonte Williams was the RB12. It’s safe to say that my starts hit at a 100% rate.

For the sits, I had Sam Darnold (QB27, Dak Prescott (QB13), Zack Moss (RB35), and Rachaad White (RB31). I could not be more proud of myself for getting seven out of the eight calls correct. My approach to fantasy football has changed this year, and I hope I have helped you win games across all your leagues this season. Week 6 starts, and sits starts now!

Week 6 Quarterback Starts

Caleb Williams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Caleb Williams will be playing across the pond in London for the Chicago Bears Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bears are 3-2 and winners of their last two games. Williams has had two 20-point games in his last three outings. In Week 5, he had his first-ever QB1 week with a QB6 finish against the Carolina Panthers. Williams surpassed 300 passing yards as well for the second time in three weeks.

In Week 6, he gets the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars allow the most fantasy PPG to wide receivers and quarterbacks. Williams will once again be a QB1, and he is slowly getting in his groove after a rocky first two weeks in the NFL. My hot take is that in London, Williams will post another QB1 week, but this time, be a top 3 quarterback and my favorite start in starts and sits.

Dak Prescott vs Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are a top-three team in terms of the least amount of fantasy PPG allowed to running backs. They are a bottom-12 team against the pass and fantasy ppg allowed to quarterbacks. This leaves Dak Prescott in a tremendous position to replicate a top-five finish such as he did in Week 3. With the Cowboys’ defense not being the defense it once was, Prescott has to be on point. Also, with the Lions’ high-powered offense, Prescott will certainly throw the bowl 40-plus times to give the Cowboys a shot in this game.

Quarterback Sits

Josh Allen @ New York Jets

Josh Allen was drafted to be your starter every single week. I am going with the data and can be roasted later if this blows up in my face. Allen has not been good against the New York Jets in his career. In 11 career games, Allen has 12 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, an 81.5 QB rating, and 2,552 passing yards. Allen averages 19.5 fantasy ppg against the Jets in his career, below his career average. This has a great chance to blow up in my face since it is the best fantasy quarterback next to Lamar Jackson. This is a gut call, along with the data.

Justin Fields @ Las Vegas Raiders

Justin Fields has been a great QB2 in superflex leagues. Most redraft leagues are 1QB, and Fields has been riding the bench unless you took a chance on him as your QB1. Fields has had two QB1 finishes this season, with an overall QB1 finish in Week 4. He is currently the QB9 on total points, but I just do not feel confident to start him week in and week out.

The issue with Fields is that he is too inconsistent with his play. Despite the Steelers starting the season 3-0, Fields was the QB18 on average in those three games. Fields is a threat with his legs, but I do not trust him against a top-12 team in the least fantasy PPG allowed to quarterbacks.

Week 6 Running Back Starts

Cam Akers @ New England Patriots

Cam Akers has seen over 4 YPC (yards per carry) in three of the four games he has played in. He is not a must-start, but with the matchups the Texans have, he deserves consideration. Akers was out-carried by Dare Ogunbowale, but Ogunbowale had 30 yards on 15 carries, which is horrible. Despite Akers getting the lesser amount of work, I love him in Week 6. The New England Patriots are set to start rookie quarterback Drake Maye this week. I believe the Texans will have their way with Maye and end up running most of the game with Akers and Ogunbowale. With that being said, I believe Akers to be the better runner. IF Joe Mixon ends up playing, I will adjust and find a replacement.

Najee Harris @ Las Vegas Raiders

I cannot stop putting Najee Harris on these articles. I truly believe a spike week with two touchdowns is on the horizon. Jaylen Warren is still banged up, and even if he plays, it should not affect Harris. Harris has one finish inside the top 20, with the rest of his finishes as RB30 or worse. Also, Najee Harris has not found the end zone once this season. In Week 6, Mr. Harris ends up with a touchdown and a top-20 finish.

Running Back Sits

Brian Robinson Jr @ Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are deadly as a run defense and have been for a very long time. The Ravens are a top-five team in terms of the least amount of fantasy PPG allowed to running backs. It gets worse for Brian Robinson Jr as the Ravens are allowing only 84 total ypg (yards per game) to running backs with only 48 rushing ypg. Jayden Daniels will have to showcase his passing ability other than his rushing upside, as a ton of points will be needed to beat the Ravens.

Brian Robinson Jr has been one of the better value picks in fantasy drafts, but he will not be in Week 6. This is going to be the best game this week between two former Heisman winners, or the Ravens will win by three scores. Regardless, I will be sitting Brian Robinson Jr this week.

Rico Dowdle vs Detroit Lions

Yes, Rico Dowdle finished as the RB3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are one of the better run defenses in the NFL. A touchdown is what sent Dowdle into the RB1 finishes in Week 5, but the Lions are a different beast. Despite Kenneth Walker, who is an absolute alpha of a running back, the Lions have kept runners in check. The Lions allow a measly 58 rushing ypg (yards per game). They also have given up four rushing touchdowns, with three of those to just one guy, Kenneth Walker.

As I stated above about Dak Prescott throwing the ball over 40 times, I believe Dowdle and the Cowboys rushing attack will be a non-factor in Week 6. Despite a great Week 5 performance, pivot towards other choices. Dowdle is my favorite sit in starts and sits for Week 6.
